'Lifetime Achievement': Revanth Reddy Equates Sonia's Praise Letter To Nobel, Oscar; BJP Reacts

Last Updated: While addressing a presentation of Telangana's caste census in New Delhi, CM Revanth Reddy said Sonia Gandhi's words of praise were like a "lifetime achievement award" to him. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy sparked a political buzz after he compared veteran Congress leader Sonia Gandhi's letter of praise as a 'lifetime achievement award", an Oscar and a Nobel Prize. Revanth Reddy shared a letter by Sonia Gandhi, the current Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, who thanked him for inviting her to an event at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi on Thursday. 'While I would have been delighted to be part of this significant and auspicious occasion, I regret that due to prior commitments, I will be unable to attend. However, I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to you and all participants for a successful and memorable event," Sonia Gandhi wrote in the letter. 'Madam Sonia Gandhi, our leader, icon of sacrifice, diety who made the dream of a separate Telangana possible… Her letter of appreciation is the acme of achievement and the peak of satisfaction," Reddy wrote on X. While addressing a presentation on caste census to Congress MPs in New Delhi in the presence of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Reddy unveiled the 'Telangana Socio-Economic Survey – Model and Methodology' exercise, calling it the RaRe model (based on Rahul Gandhi-Revanth Reddy). In an emotional speech, the Telangana CM showed a handwritten letter from Sonia Gandhi praising the survey and described it as 'more valuable than a Nobel Prize or an Oscar," and 'personal lifetime achievement." If anyone has an issue calling it as Telangana Model of Caste Census, we can call it RaRe model – CM Revanth ReddyA letter of a appreciation from Sonia Gandhi is Oscar Award , Nobel Prize & Lifetime achievement for me — Naveena (@TheNaveena) July 24, 2025 'If anyone has an issue calling it the Telangana Model of Caste Census, we can call it the RaRe model," he added. The survey comprised 88,000 pages of data gathered from self-declared 'foolproof" data from door-to-door surveys, showing that OBCs constituted over 56% of Telangana's population, while SCs contributed 17.4%, STs 10.9% and 3.9% with 'no castes". BJP, BRS Hit Back The BJP hit back at Reddy's remarks on Sonia Gandhi, saying there was no limit to sycophancy in Congress. 'Revanth Reddy, after receiving a letter of praise from Sonia Gandhi, went as far as comparing her to a deity — this is pure devotion to their political family," said BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala. 'If the caste survey in Telangana is really so good, then why don't they make an OBC Chief Minister in Telangana or Karnataka?" he added. BRS leader Dr Krishank mocked the CM, saying, 'How can a letter from Sonia Gandhi ji of not being able to attend be called as a Lifetime Achievement or Oscar Award for CM Revanth." How can a letter from Sonia Gandhi ji of not being able to attend be called as a Lifetime Achievement or Oscar Award for CM Revanth ❓️ 😂 — (@Krishank_BRS) July 24, 2025 Revanth Reddy also criticised the BJP at the event, accusing the party of resisting caste census efforts and asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a 'legally converted OBC," whose caste was officially recognized in that category only after he assumed the position of Gujarat Chief Minister. view comments Location : New Delhi, India, India First Published: July 25, 2025, 10:27 IST News politics 'Lifetime Achievement': Revanth Reddy Equates Sonia's Praise Letter To Nobel, Oscar; BJP Reacts Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Revanth pushes for 42% BC quota

Urges Congress MPs to take forward the BC quota 'battle' CM explains caste survey modalities via PPT to Rahul, Kharge 'Exceeded expectations': Rahul, Kharge hail TG caste survey Cong high command backs Telangana model of social justice Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy urged Congress party MPs to take forward the 'battle' to achieve 42 per cent reservation for backward classes (BCs) in Telangana, which would set the 'benchmark' for the entire country. He urged Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leaders of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, respectively, to lead the battle in both Houses, while Telangana's Congress leaders would build the momentum at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. While giving his power-point presentation in Delhi on the caste survey taken up by the Congress government in Telangana to party MPs, including Rahul, Kharge and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the CM explained how the state government had made 'meticulous efforts' to complete the task within 60 days. Reiterating that the survey would be a 'roadmap' for the nation, he said the survey could be called 'RaRe model'. 'If anyone has an issue calling it as the Telangana Model of caste census, we can call it 'RaRe model', the Chief Minister said. While showing the letter of appreciation from Sonia Gandhi, the chairperson of Congress Parliamentary Pawrty, the CM described it as a lifetime achievement award. 'A letter of appreciation from Sonia Gandhi is an Oscar Award, Nobel Prize and lifetime achievement for me,' he said, to the applause from fellow partymen. With the achievement of the state government's SEEEPC (Social, Education, Employment, Economic, Political, Caste) survey in Telangana, Revanth Reddy felt that the Congress had placed a massive challenge before Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). 'We would have unseated Modiji if the Centre failed to incorporate caste enumeration in the upcoming census. This is the success of Rahul Gandhi, similar to successful withdrawal of farm laws. Modi not only withdrew the three farm laws, but also apologised,' Revanth recalled. The Chief Minister dared anyone to challenge the survey conducted by the Telangana government. '88 crore pages of data are with me now. This is 100 per cent foolproof data which was self-declared by people, and I dare anyone to challenge this,' he stated. Citing the examples of how only few households opted out of the survey, Revanth Reddy said that BRS leaders K Chandrashekar Rao, his son K T Rama Rao and nephew T Harish Rao decided to not to become part of the survey and hence remained 'unaccounted for' in Telangana. 'Since they failed to become a part of the process, they remained unaccounted for,' he said. Rahul, Priyanka laud Revanth Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi lauded the efforts of Revanth Reddy. 'Revanth Reddy and other party leaders exceeded my expectations; they not only did the caste census but did so exceptionally well and in the right spirit. I can say with certainty that the level of competence they have demonstrated is a milestone for social justice in the country. It will set the standard for a nationwide caste census, regardless of whether the BJP likes it or not,' Rahul said, during his address. Priyanka Gandhi said, 'Very proud of you for this achievement and even more for having the political courage to do it.'

The strong turnout was a mark of pride for the academy's mission of nurturing creativity, confidence and collaboration through storytelling and theatre. A special highlight was the staging of Maleficent, which featured four students from the Dignity for Children Foundation who received the academy's performing arts scholarship. In addition to Kaeley Ng Mei Shuen, three students – Aviela Nkechiamara Chukwu, Raoul Lee Tzyy Hao and Casey Chee Seng Quan were returning scholars. 'We're thrilled that so many families came to cheer on the children,' said academy director Jeanisha Wan. 'Presley was a very good role model': Malema pays tribute to the late actor

EFF leader Julius Malema has conveyed his condolences to the family of the late actor Presley Chweneyagae. The 40-year-old award-winning actor died on May 27 from natural causes after experiencing sudden respiratory challenges. Malema visited Chweneyagae's home on Wednesday in Pretoria North to pay his respects. He was accompanied by party members, including EFF Gauteng chair Nkululeko Dunga and other leaders from the provincial structure. Speaking to the media after his visit, Malema remembered Chweneyagae for his talent and humility. 'We are here to send our condolences to the family. Presley was a very good actor and put South Africa on the international map when the movie Tsotsi won an Oscar Award. We started to appreciate that we have talent in our country,' Malema said. 'He was a very good role model; he had talent, and a lot of young people looked up to him. He interacted with people with such ease. He didn't throw his weight around if you found him at social events. Though he had a strong presence, he didn't behave like a typical celebrity who looked down on people. That's what brought us here. When a man has been good to you, you have to be there during difficult times.' He assured the family that the party would be there to support them through this difficult time. 'We told them that they're not alone. If they need anything, they should be able to shout, and we'll see where we can assist as the EFF. 'When a brother like that passes on, especially at the age of 40, it should be a concern for us to come and hear it from the family as to what happened.' Chweneyagae's first memorial service was held at the Mmabatho Convention Centre in Mahikeng on Tuesday. The second one will be held at the State Theatre in Pretoria on Thursday. His funeral service will take place at the Akasia Community Hall in Pretoria on Saturday.
