CHENNAI Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister P. K. Sekarbabu on Saturday said that three homes, Tirunelveli and Palani by December this year. Speaking to presspersons after inspecting the work at Kolathur, he said that the Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who laid the foundation stone for these projects, was eager to see them function and serve the needy. The home at Kolathur, would be able to provide shelter to 100 persons and have facilities including a park, walking pathways, yoga hall meditation centre, library and individual rooms with attached bathrooms. These homes will be maintained from the Corporate Social Responsibility funds. 'Till now, ₹ 5 crore have been received for the home at Kolathur,' he added. Asked about the arrangements for the Kumbhabhishegam at the Sri Subramaniaswamy Temple at Thiruchendur, he said that it was a milestone in the Dravidian model of governance. 'A lot of planning has gone into the conduct of the event that has been attracting thousands of persons from all over,' he said. Three temporary bus stands will come up and large LED TVs will be set up at various locations. A total of 6000 police personnel will be on duty, fire vehicles will be stationed at 27 points and medical centres are to come up at 25 places, ensuring the safety of the devotees. 'Three IAS officials have been specially made in charge for the smooth conduct of the event,' he said.

Minister reviews preparatory measures at Tiruchendur temple

T Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister P.K. Sekarbabu on Thursday inspected the preparatory works for the upcoming consecration ceremony at Tiruchendur Subramanya Swamy temple on July 7. The temple has undergone extensive renovation at a cost of ₹300 crore, and the consecration is being conducted after a gap of 15 years. Over 10 lakh devotees are expected to participate in the event. The yagasala puja for the festival commenced on July 1. To ensure a smooth experience for devotees and to improve overall temple infrastructure, several development works have been carried out. As part of the inspection, Mr. Sekarbabu reviewed the new facilities constructed at a cost of ₹24.80 crore. These include a new joint commissioner office within the temple premises, a conference room, locker room, a separate complex for counting the temple's hundi collections, sashti mandapam, first aid centre, CCTV surveillance room, server and UPS room and an electric lift. In addition, he also inspected newly constructed accommodation facilities including four luxury suite rooms, 24 airconditioned rooms, and 24 non-airconditioned rooms, and a 52-room dormitory building. They were built at a cost of ₹10.57 crore and set to be inaugurated by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on July 4. Mr. Sekarbabu and Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Minister Anitha Radhakrishnan also participated in the fourth phase of the yagasala puja held in the temple premises. During the ritual, the new gold plated Vimana Kalasam of Lord Shanmuganathar was placed and worshipped. Collector K. Elambahavath, District SP Albert John and other officials were present during the inspection.

CMDA hands over ₹ 2.25 crore to Dy CM for developing badminton court in CM's Mini Stadium in Kolathur

Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments P.K. Sekarbabu, along with officials from the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA), handed over a cheque for ₹2.25 crore to Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Wednesday. The funds from CMDA will be used for constructing an indoor badminton court at the Chief Minister's Mini Stadium in the Kolathur Assembly Constituency in Chennai. The badminton court project inside the mini stadium is a part of the Vada Chennai Valarchi Thittam initiative. Officials from the Department of Sports Development were also present.

2,00,001-acre boundary stone to mark temple lands under purview of HR&CE department installed

CHENNAI A boundary stone to mark the 2,00,001 acres of land belonging to temples under the purview of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department in various parts of Tamil Nadu, was symbolically installed on Wednesday near Sriperumbudur. Ministers T.M. Anbarasan and P. K. Sekarbabu jointly placed the stone on the land belonging to Sri Valleeswarar temple in the presence of officials, including Kancheepuram Collector Kalaiselvi Mohan, an official press release here said. The project to mark lands belonging to temples was inaugurated at Kapaleeswarar temple on September 8, 2012. All the stones have the text HRCE engraved on them. A total of 40 tahsildars and 172 licenced surveyors using 36 DGPS rovers have been identifying and marking the lands. The 1,00,001-acre stone was kept on January 25, 2023 at Tiruvallur on the land belonging to Sri Bhavani Amman temple at Periyapalayam, the release said.

Over 7,550 acres of temple land worth ₹7,871.23 crore retrieved in four years, says HR&CE Minister

Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments P. K. Sekarbabu on Wednesday said that a total of 7,560 acres of land belonging to temples worth ₹7,871.23 crore had been retrieved in the last four years. Speaking after releasing a book with details of the lands, he said that Chief Minister M. K. Stalin had drawn up a special programme as soon as he took over. The department got 38 tahsildars on deputation and encroachments were removed. Action has been taken on encroachers. Earlier, only the commissioner could initiate action and that has been changed now, he said. Steps have been taken to change the names on pattas of 648 temples corresponding to a total of 5,400 acres of land. The pattas are in the names of the respective deities. The e-chitta has been corrected for 4,491.47 acres and a rent of ₹1,046.31 crore has been collected. The department will complete measuring and marking two lakh acres of lands and planting stones in Mevalurkuppam in Kancheepuram district. Mr. Sekarbabu welcomed the order of the Supreme Court on archakar appointments and said that identification of Agamic and non-Agamic temples would be taken up soon and posts of archakars would be filled in non-Agamic temples.
