Pahang unveils ambitious vision to become east coast growth leader

KUANTAN: The newly-launched Aspirasi Pahang 1st marks a vital turning point in steering the east coast state towards becoming a developed and efficiently governed entity. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail described Aspirasi Pahang 1st not merely as a slogan but as a comprehensive state policy encompassing all sectors, which serves as both a vision and an aspiration to elevate Pahang to a higher level. "This aspiration adopts the identity of Pahang, anchored by visionary leadership and driven by all people regardless of background, with the goal of making the state a leader in development, excellent governance, environmental sustainability, and the preservation of values, culture, and religion. "Based on the potential we possess, in terms of resource wealth, strategic location, political stability, and experienced leadership, we have no doubt that Pahang can become the driving force behind the east coast's future," he said during his speech at the launch of Aspirasi Pahang 1st at Sukpa Indoor Stadium here today. Wan Rosdy said that strategic projects such as the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) and the Halal Industrial Parks will not only attract investments but also create high-value job opportunities, positioning Pahang as a new hub for economic growth. "The ECRL has paved the way for high-impact transit-oriented development projects within a 15km radius of its stations. "The Pahang Economic Transformation 2025-2030 (PET30) is not just a development plan but a comprehensive transformation strategy based on the state's resource strengths, global market realities, and the aspirations of the people. "We must step out of our comfort zones to act swiftly and responsibly to build a more prosperous Pahang. If the PET30 plan succeeds, it is possible for the state's annual revenue to reach RM2 billion within the next five to ten years," he said. Wan Rosdy said the Aspirasi Pahang 1st will prioritise education, with a focus on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a main career path, while giving equal importance to Artificial Intelligence (AI). He said that civil servants across Pahang will play a larger role by embracing the digital era to make the state more developed, progressive, and competitive. Wan Rosdy said that the aspiration is not solely about pursuing economic growth or physical development, but about improving the quality of life for the people through affordable housing and addressing other essential needs, ensuring no one is left behind. Meanwhile, he told reporters that besides providing further explanations through a series of talks, pamphlets will be distributed statewide to help residents better understand Aspirasi Pahang 1st.

Pahang's PET30 to drive economic transformation across state

BENTONG: The Pahang Economic Transformation 2025-2030 (PET30) is a strategic initiative aimed at reshaping the economic landscape of the east coast state into a more sustainable, inclusive and people-centric model. PET30 is built upon three main pillars namely the well-being of the people, environmental responsibility and economic growth driven by the private sector. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail described it not merely as a development plan, but as a comprehensive transformation exercise based on the state's resource strengths, current global market realities and the aspirations of its people. "PET30 will focus on strengthening the agro-food and plantation industries, advancing materials development, promoting nature-based tourism, enhancing human capital and workforce quality, and driving regional transformation and district empowerment. "Conserving forests and biodiversity will serve as the foundation of the green economy. "The green economy is a strategic asset, not only from the perspective of ecological sustainability but also as a new engine of growth, including carbon investment and the climate economy," he said in a statement today. Wan Rosdy earlier attended the PET30 master plan workshop led by Pahang Economic Advisory Council chairman Tan Sri Mohamed Nazir Abdul Razak at Genting Highlands near here today. Meanwhile, Wan Rosdy emphasised that strategic infrastructure projects, such as the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park, East Coast Rail Link, Kuantan Port, Pekan Automotive Park, Central Spine Road, and Gebeng, would be fully leveraged as catalysts for investments. He said PET30 could not rely solely on policy documents but must be translated into concrete actions, supported by strict monitoring, key performance indicators, and cross-agency collaboration. "I call upon all parties to treat the years 2025 to 2030 as an era of execution, not just planning. We must step out of our comfort zones and act swiftly to steer Pahang toward a more prosperous future. "I am confident that PET30 will build a more prosperous, sustainable, and united future for the benefit of all the people in Pahang and future generations," he said.
