Will reclaim Gachibowli land, asserts Telangana CM Revanth Reddy; says area will be used for IT development & job creation

HYDERABAD: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday took a defiant stand on the Kancha Gachibowli land controversy and and said his govt would reclaim the entire land, spanning over 400 acres. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "Certain individuals are creating obstacles, but the govt will pursue the issue legally and reclaim the land," he said without specifically mentioning 'Kancha Gachibowli'. Inaugurating the six-lane PJR flyover in Kondapur, spanning 1.2 km, he said, "We will establish IT companies on the land and generate lakhs of jobs. The Financial District has already created nearly 10 lakh jobs, while the Knowledge Park near Durgam Cheruvu has generated an additional five lakh jobs. We planned to create five lakh more jobs with Rs 1 lakh crore investment across 400 acres near Gachibowli stadium, but faced hurdles from certain quarters. " He added the land had been wrongly allocated to private parties in 2002-03. What has Modi done for Hyderabad, asks Revanth Revanth said, "But we successfully contested the claim in the Supreme Court and reclaimed it for the state govt after two decades." Controversy around Kancha Gachibowli started in Feb after the state govt announced plans to clear the land for development projects. The move met with stiff opposition from environmentalists and University of Hyderabad (UoH) student groups who alleged that damaging the forest flora and fauna would fuel the climate crisis. The issue had reached up to the Supreme Court which warned the state govt against clearing the forest. Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the flyover, Revanth challenged Union minister G Kishan Reddy and BJP's eight MPs in Telangana to explain Prime Minister Narendra Modi's contribution to the city. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "Bengaluru, Chennai, and Andhra Pradesh were sanctioned metro rail projects," he said. "Gujarat was given a bullet train worth Rs 2 lakh crore. Telangana faces unequal treatment in riverfront development funding. While Sabarmati in Gujarat, Yamuna to Delhi, and Ganga to Uttar Pradesh got funds, our Musi riverfront remains unfunded." Hyd vying with NY, Tokyo "I made a personal visit to Kishan Reddy's home and invited him to join us. We will call on Amit Shah during his upcoming visit to the city to seek approvals for our Metro project, regional ring road, and Musi River development initiatives," said Revanth Reddy. He said Hyderabad aspired to compete with New York and Singapore, not just Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, and Mumbai. "Despite political hindrances in urban development, the administration continues to implement the Telangana Rising 2047 plan," he insisted. "While Delhi struggles with air pollution, Chennai faces flooding issues, and Bengaluru grapples with traffic congestion. These conditions offer valuable insights for Hyderabad's development. We are preparing plans in the next 100 days to address growing pollution concerns and plan to implement initiatives like replacing diesel buses with 3,000 electric buses, permitting electric and CNG autos, and offering complete tax exemption for EVs," Revanth said. Future City project In a review meeting with industries minister D Sridhar Babu, the CM directed officials to expedite land acquisition for the proposed Future City project. "No investor or industrialist seeking land for data centres should leave empty-handed," the CM said. "The department should prepare a 100-day action plan to create a favourable ecosystem for GCCs," he said.

Revanth to tap Amit Shah for central funds for city projects

Hyderabad: Continuing his tirade against Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday wondered what he (Kishan Reddy) had achieved for Hyderabad and what was Prime Minister Narendra Modi's contribution for the city's development. A day ahead of Union Minister Amit Shah's visit to Hyderabad on Sunday, the Chief Minister said that the state government would urge Shah to give his nod for Metro expansion and support RRR (Regional Ring Road) and Musi Riverfront projects. Speaking after inaugurating the 1.2-km PJR flyover at Gachibowli that was constructed at a cost of Rs 182.72 crore, Revanth Reddy regretted that none of the eight BJP MPs from Telangana had secured central funds for various developmental projects taken up in the state. 'Kishan Reddy should tell us if he has brought anything from Modi? Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, both ruled by Opposition parties, were given Metro. Andhra Pradesh has also benefitted. Bullet train was given to Gujarat at a cost of Rs two lakh crore. The central government's funds were give Sabarmati Riverfront in Gujarat, Yamuna Riverfront in Delhi and Ganga Riverfront in Uttar Pradesh. But why this step-motherly attitude towards our Musi Riverfront, Metro Rail and RRR projects?' he scorned. He wanted to know if the BJP felt that Telangana's demands were not legitimate or if there were any defects in the reports and proposals presented by the state government. Over the issue of Kancha Gachibowli lands, the Chief Minister reiterated that the state government was committed to development and would continue the legal fight till it reached its logical end. 'We are taking steps forward by dividing Telangana into Core Urban Region, Semi Urban Region, Rural Telangana. Delhi is in an uninhabitable condition due to pollution. Chennai is facing flood problems, while Bangalore is struggling with traffic woes. We should learn lessons from Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore. Don't forgive those who obstruct government programmes under the guise of politics. We tried to bring IT companies to Gachibowli and provide employment to lakhs of people, but they obstructed our plans. We will fight a legal battle over Gachibowli lands and provide employment to millions,' he reiterated. Reminding the services of Congress leader P Janardhan Reddy, Chief Minister directed officials to undertake a feasibility study for a statue near Gachibowli. 'Similar to Mammohan Singh's upcoming statue in the Financial District, we will have one of PJR,' he said. On the proposed delimitation, Revanth Reddy said that constituencies like Serilingampally may be divided into four segments. He urged the local MLA Arikepudi Gandhi to ensure Congress wins in all these constituencies, just like the feat achieved by PJR during whose time Khairatabad was divided into several constituencies and despite all that Congress achieved good results across segments. Highlighting the issue of pollution, the Chief Minister said that the government was encouraging Electric Vehicles (EV) in the city by way of tax exemptions. Citing the example of N-Convention Centre, he said that actor Nagarjuna had voluntarily given up two acres of land, while contributing for the development of the city. He said that this was possible only because of HYDRAA. He also said that Bathukamma Kunta's encroachment was removed after several decades and this time Bathukamma could be celebrated on that very restored land.

Hyderabad welcomed its latest infrastructure improvement today, with the inauguration of the PJR flyover slated for 4 pm. CM to throw open PJR flyover today; traffic woes set to ease

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will inaugurate Shilpa layout stage-II flyover named after the senior Congress leader late P Janardhan Reddy (PJR), connecting Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Kondapur on Saturday. The flyover was built under the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) at a cost of Rs 182.72 crore. It is 1.2 km long and 24 meters wide with six lanes. Its specialty is that it is a third-level structure built on two existing flyovers. Below is the Gachibowli Junction flyover, above it is the Shilpa layout phase one flyover and now the phase two flyover, is being built on top of it. The traffic woes of commuters will be solved. Once the flyover is opened to the public, the traffic issues for entering the ORR from Kondapur will be alleviated, benefiting those heading to the IT corridor as well. The congestion at the Gachibowli junction will significantly reduce, resulting in considerable time saving for motorists. Also, motorists can reach Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad directly from Kondapur via Gachibowli without any traffic jams. On Friday, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi, and senior engineers conducted a detailed inspection of the flyover site and the adjoining public meeting venue. The commissioner stated that the construction of this flyover will effectively resolve traffic issues for those traveling to the Financial District, Madhapur, and Shamshabad. According to officials, the vehicular traffic would get relief at Gachibowli Junction by creating free movement of traffic from ORR towards Kondapur and vice-versa. It will also provide better connectivity between Hi-tech City and Financial district. As SRDP is laying a big foundation for infrastructure development in Hyderabad, the 23rd flyover will be made available through the project. Out of the total 42 works undertaken through SRDP, 37 works have been completed with this flyover, officials added. Moreover, the GHMC informed the railway officials to finalize the railway segment of the Falaknuma and Shastripuram ROBs projects within the next 2-3 months. Upon the completion of these two ROBs, 39 SRDP projects will also be finished. This will allow motorists to navigate the area without any traffic interruptions.
