Neena Gupta once recalled Vivian Richards' reaction to her pregnancy: 'If you don't want this child then...'
From powerful performance in 'Metro In Dino' to winning hearts in 'Panchayat Season 4', is truly having a golden run. But while her career is shining, she's also known for being brutally honest about her personal life. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The 'Badhaai Ho' actress has never shied away from speaking about her past, no matter how unconventional it may have seemed at the time. One such chapter in her life was her relationship with legendary West Indies cricketer . Neena once opened up about the moment she told him she was pregnant, and how he responded. Vivian's support meant everything to her In a past chat with Humans of Bombay, the 'Uunchai' actress shared how she broke the news to Vivian during a phone call. She was upfront about her situation and offered him the choice to step away if he didn't want the responsibility. She explained, 'I was not very giddy with joy. I was happy because I loved him. I called him and asked him that if you don't want this child then I won't have it. He said, 'No no I would love for you to have this child'. ' Facing judgement from those around her Back then, having a child outside marriage was still taboo in many circles. Neena revealed that everyone around her was against the idea of raising a child alone. Her father, too, wasn't in favour of the decision at first, but time helped change his mind, 'Everyone told me, 'No, no, no how can you do it alone?' because he was already married and I couldn't marry him and go to Antigua to live there.' She didn't let the negative voices stop her. Like many people in love, she followed her heart, even when others thought she was making a mistake. Neena says, 'Jawani mein you are blind' Looking back, Neena knows that love in your younger years often makes you ignore advice and warnings. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now She admits,'But what happens is jawani mein you are blind. (You are blind in your youth) When you are in love, you don't listen to anybody. No children will listen to their parents and I was the same.' Neena's unique take on love In the same interview, Neena spoke openly about how she views love between a man and a woman. According to her, 'I don't think there is anything called love between a man and a woman. It starts with lust and then If you get along, you become affectionate to each other and then, it becomes a habit. The only love that I have felt is for Masaba. I don't know what other people might have felt, but mujhe nahi love samajh mein aata (I don't understand love). ' Her daughter Masaba is her world The 'Goodbye' actress further explained that the only form of love she truly believes in is the one she feels for her daughter Masaba, 'Ye sab wo lust hota hai shuru me, uske baad (there is lust in the beginning, but after that) it can take any direction, you marry or you go to somebody else. It's only with a child that I feel that love, that I can do anything for her. For my husband I will do, I do a lot, but I will not do anything for him like I will do for Masaba. ' Life after Vivian Richards While Neena and Vivian Richards never got married, their relationship during the late 1980s was an important part of her life. She made the bold choice to become a single mother and raise Masaba on her own. Years later, in 2008, Neena got married to Vivek Mehta, a chartered accountant based in Delhi.

Panchayat's Sachiv Ji Or Kota Factory's Jeetu Bhaiya? Jitendra Kumar Says 'My favourite…'
Last Updated: Jitendra Kumar shared which of his characters, Kota Factory's Jeetu Bhaiya or Panchayat's Sachiv ji, fans connect with more today. Jitendra Kumar has become a rare face in Indian streaming who can claim two cult roles that fans refuse to let go of – Jeetu Bhaiya from Kota Factory and Sachiv ji from Panchayat. And while both characters are much loved by the fans and the meme world, one clearly leads the popularity race. In a recent chat with IANS, the actor was asked which name fans call out to him more often in public. 'I think Jeetu Bhaiya is a bit more popular, but people often end up mixing the two worlds," Jitendra said. The Panchayat actor shared a funny example of how fans tend to mash the two characters together in conversation. 'If someone wants to tell me something, they call me Jeetu Bhaiya, but in the same breath, they say, 'will Jeetu Bhaiya be able to move on from Rinki or not?' So, they end up mixing both worlds. I think they have a hangover of both the shows, but 'Jeetu Bhaiya' comes more easily to them compared to Sachiv ji," he added. As for his personal pick between the two roles, Jitendra found it tough to choose. 'It is very difficult to choose as both these characters are very different from one another, but given that Panchayat season 4 has just released, it is my favourite at the moment." As Jeetu Bhaiya in Kota Factory, Jitendra Kumar plays a calm, mentor-like teacher who has become a cultural icon among students and aspirants. He plays a compassionate physics teacher who becomes a mentor figure to IIT aspirants — firm, empathetic and deeply relatable, especially to students facing academic pressure. In Panchayat, he shines as Abhishek Tripathi or Sachiv Ji, the sincere village secretary, where his understated performance and slow-burn chemistry with Sanvikaa (who plays Rinki) have struck a chord with audiences. Their on-screen bond, subtle yet engaging, adds charm to the show's emotional core. During an appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix, host Kapil Sharma couldn't resist teasing Jitendra about his popularity among female fans, asking if girls now call him 'Jeetu Bhaiya' when asking for selfies. To that, Jitendra joked, 'Main mana kar deta hoon. Bhaiya bologe toh selfie nahi milegi (I say no. If you call me brother, you won't get a selfie)." Meanwhile, Panchayat Season 4 has turned out to be a big hit on OTT and Panchayat Season 5 is already in the works. Panchayat Star Sanvikaa Admits She Felt Awkward in Front of Paps: ‘Mera First Time Hai Nah'
Sanvikaa made quite a mark playing the role of Rinki, sarpanchji's daughter, in Panchayat series. Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta and Raghubir Yadav's Panchayat is undoubtedly one of the most loved shows in India. Among the breakout stars is Sanvikaa, who rose to fame playing the role of Rinki. Ever since then, the actress has been enjoying the love and admiration of the audience. But despite her growing popularity, the actress recently confessed to feeling a bit awkward when she was papped for the first time. In a video doing the rounds on Instagram, Sanvikaa is seen exiting a venue and being greeted by the paparazzi. She greeted them back with a smile and genuine warmth. When one of the paps requested, 'Aap aagey aaiye thoda," she responded with a little laugh, 'Aur aagey aau?" That is when she admitted, 'Mera first time hai nah," adding, 'Isiliye mere liye awkward hai thoda sa." It was a sweet and honest moment that showed how grounded she remains, despite stepping into the spotlight. Before leaving, Sanvikaa flashed a thumbs-up and thanked the photographers. She even folded her hands to say goodbye. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Pinkvilla (@pinkvilla) The video instantly caught the attention of her fans, with many praising her simplicity. Comments ranged from 'So sweet of her to admit it," to 'A journey from no one to known one! Superb @iamsanvikaa! Really proud of you. Watching Panchayat Season 4. Rinkiyaaa!" Written by Chandan Kumar and directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, Panchayat follows the life of a panchayat secretary during the much-anticipated village elections. The show continues to receive massive love, and fans are already demanding Season 4. As for Sanvikaa's journey, it is nothing short of inspiring. Born as Pooja Singh in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, she pursued engineering in her hometown. Though her parents wanted her to opt for a stable job, she moved to Mumbai to chase her dream. Initially, she lived with a friend already working in the entertainment industry. With that friend's encouragement, Sanvikaa began working as an outfit assistant director while simultaneously giving auditions. Within just ten days, she landed a commercial – and the rest, as they say, is history. Her casting in Panchayat Season 2 became her big break, and since then, there's been no looking back. According to reports, she has been flooded with offers for upcoming roles in multiple projects. First Published: June 24, 2025, 18:51 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
