TikTok is testing its own version of Instagram's ‘broadcast channels'
TikTok is testing a new messaging tool called 'bulletin boards,' the social network confirmed to TechCrunch on Friday. The feature lets brands and creators share public, one-to-many messages to their followers. Bulletin boards are pretty similar to Instagram's broadcast channels feature that launched in 2023. Just like with broadcast channels on Instagram, only the creator of a bulletin board can post messages, and followers are limited to leaving emoji reactions. Bulletin boards support text, image, and video posts. The feature was first spotted by Threads user Christina Garnett. The idea behind the feature is to allow creators and brands to share updates, behind-the-scenes content, and engage with their followers in a more direct way. For example, rather than posting updates through a Story or regular post on TikTok, brands and creators can share them on their bulletin board. The feature also lets accounts promote their content by directly sending it to followers. Some early testers of the feature include People Magazine, Paris Saint-Germain F.C, and the Jonas Brothers. Given that bulletin boards are test feature, it's unknown whether TikTok plans to roll it out out more widely. Plus, it's possible that TikTok may add more functionality. Instagram's broadcast channels, for example, let creators post polls. The launch of bulletin boards is the latest example of one social network borrowing features from another. Back in 2022, TikTok launched Stories, along with support for photos, in order to take on Instagram. Of course, Instagram copied TikTok's entire playbook with the launch of Reels in 2020. Victoria Beckham shares update on David after surgery with recovery video
Sir David Beckham has now returned home after undergoing surgery, with his wife Victoria Beckham having shared an update on the retired footballer this evening. It comes following the news earlier that he had been in hospital. This morning, Victoria, 51, shared a photo of David, 50, lying in a hospital bed with his arm in a sling. It's since been reported that he had surgery to address a broken wrist that he sustained more than 20 years ago in a football match. Hours after her post, Victoria has now suggested that he's back home from hospital following the apparent procedure. This evening, she shared footage of David stood in the couple's kitchen in a post on her Instagram Story. The video shows David stood at a counter. Lettuce and cucumbers are seen on the table. Victoria says: "So this weekend's vegetable content." She adds: "Look, he's overperforming on the cucumber front. Look at this! Are they all from the ..." David looks unimpressed as he reacts: "I'm not sure you can say that, darling!" He however is then seen holding up a cucumber as he grins whilst his wife laughs. Following the news that David had been in hospital, a source told the Mirror that he underwent 'secret' surgery to repair a broken wrist. He's said to have sustained the injury during a friendly football match against South Africa in 2003. The source said: "It had been giving him problems recently and so he wanted to get it fixed." They added at the time that he planned to check out of the hospital soon and "hoped" to be able to travel to the US in time for his Inter Miami football team's next knockout match in Atlanta against his former club Paris Saint Germain in the FIFA World Cup on Sunday.

Club World Cup odds: Manchester City move up to become favourite after dominant group play
A divisive Club World Club has seen smaller crowds than might have been expected as a result of a heady mix of dynamic pricing and oversized stadia. Some of the star names have not been involved, and the European teams, in particular, seem exhausted after a long and gruelling campaign. The end is in sight, however, as the tournament reaches the knockout stages. Advertisement Manchester City, perhaps unsurprisingly, are favourites to lift the trophy on Betfair. After a disappointing campaign that saw Pep Guardiola's team uncharacteristically fail to pick up a single piece of silverware, these City players will be determined to prove that was a mere blip. The manager has fielded 25 different players thus far and has been rewarded with goals from all over the pitch. City have waltzed through the competition thus far and did not even concede a goal until an impressive 5-2 victory over Juventus. Al-Hilal are up next and should pose no great threat to a team that, prior to the season just gone, won four successive Premier League titles. They have missed Rodri, who played 125 minutes in group play, but it's not hard to see why the bookmakers still believe Guardiola's side is the one to beat. Paris Saint-Germain are second favourites to go all the way after an extraordinary season that saw them dominate the Champions League like few teams have managed in the modern era. They began the CWC with an excellent 4-0 trouncing of Atletico Madrid before a surprising 1-0 loss to Botafogo. The French giants were back on track with a 2-0 victory over Seattle Sounders that sets up a round of 16 clash against Inter Miami and a certain Lionel Messi. Messi will come up against his former employers retaining his remarkable record of having never been eliminated at the group stage of a tournament for club or country in 21 years and 33 separate group stages. PSG will surely have too much for Miami as they look to become club champions of the world as well as Europe. Real Madrid are third favourites after a disappointing season by their own impeccably high standards. Carlo Ancelotti's side were runners up in the league and Copa del Rey, losing out to arch rivals Barcelona in both competitions in a turn of events that would have stung players and fans alike. Their clash with Juventus in the last 16 could be an epic with these two European heavyweights looking to bounce back from disappointing seasons. Advertisement The bookmakers are of the belief that Bayern Munich are the fourth most likely team to emerge triumphant in the United States. They started out with a stunning 10-0 win over Auckland City before an edgier 2-1 defeat of Boca Juniors followed by a shock defeat at the hands of Benfica. By way of mitigation, though, Vincent Kompany did rest several key men for the Benfica match and one senses it would have been a different story with a full-strength team on the pitch. Harry Kane finally got over the line and won a trophy when Bayern secured the Bundesliga, and he will be eager to double his haul. He was not involved against Benfica, but the England man will surely play a major role in the knockout stages. It seems likely Munich, like the other big hitters in the competition, will be taking no chances with team selections going forward. Chelsea are not short odds to go the distance, but the bookmakers are not ruling them out of contention entirely. It was a strange first season for Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge, but they were ultimately good enough to qualify for the Champions League and win the Europa Conference League. The manager has fielded a plethora of different players across the CWC so far, one advantage of such a massive squad. Maresca's side won twice in the group stage but suffered a defeat when they came up against Brazilian giants Flamengo. Benfica are up next, and the Blues will have to do without the services of the suspended Nicolas Jackson. Finally, Inter Milan are not dissimilar odds to Chelsea when it comes to securing the crown. This seems pretty unfair on a side that has reached two Champions League finals in the last three seasons, thus showing know-how when it comes to knock-out competition when faced with the world's very best teams. They started this tournament slowly (with a 1-1 draw against Monterrey), but so often that seems to presage a team going all the way. Advertisement The Italian giants have been without several big names, including defenders Yann Bisseck and Benjamin Pavard, while new manager Cristian Chivu experiments with his options. Marcus Thuram picked up an injury in that draw with Monterrey, so it will be an unusual team that takes on Fluminense at the start of the week. While European clubs take up the top six spots in the odds, clubs from outside Europe occupy the bottom four spots. The longest odds belong to Messi's Inter Miami. David Beckham health update as star taken to hospital for secret surgery
EXCLUSIVE: Football icon David Beckham has been admitted to hospital for an operation as his wife Victoria Beckham stayed by his side to support him through the tough time David Beckham is recovering in hospital after an operation on his wrist which has been causing him pain - but he won't let it get in the way of football. His loving wife Victoria Beckham shared a snap of him lying in bed, with his arm in a sling. "Get well soon, Daddy," she wrote over the snap of him smiling while wearing a hospital gown. She also gave him a friendship bracelet made with white beads to form 'Get Well Soon'. The couple have yet to reveal what happened to the former England star. A source close to David confirmed Sir David underwent secret surgery to repair a broken wrist that he sustained 22 years ago - during a friendly football match against South Africa in 2003. 'It had been giving him problems recently and so he wanted to get it fixed,' the source confirmed. They also added that he planned to check out of the hospital soon and 'hoped' to be able to get to Atlanta in time for his Inter Miami football team's next knockout match in the Fifa world Cup against his former club Paris Saint Germain on Sunday. David's injury comes amid a family feud with eldest son Brooklyn Beckham and his wife, Nicola Peltz. Brooklyn, 26, and Nicola, 30, have made headlines in recent weeks over speculation of a 'feud' with his family, including his parents David, 50, and Victoria, 51. Expressing his love for Nicola, whom he tagged, Brooklyn teased in the caption that she's his world. He wrote "my" alongside an emoji depicting the globe. Beside a heart emoji, he also commented over the photo: "My absolute angel." A few hours later, he returned to his page to share a message to David's mother Sandra in a rare show of love towards his own family. He marked his grandmother's birthday with a post that included a photo of him beside her. Brooklyn wrote: "Happy birthday nanny xx love you so much." It is thought to have marked him reaching out for the first time to his family on social media. Meanwhile, David shared a gushing post of his own to celebrate his mother's birthday. He even gave Brooklyn a nod as he refused to give into the recent slew of social media digs and snubs from his son. The caption of the post also mentioned David's son Brooklyn, despite the pair allegedly falling out. Brooklyn has snubbed many big family occasions in the last few months, with him and Nicola not showing up to celebrate Victoria's 51st birthday or David's milestone 50th birthday celebrations in Paris and London. They also remained silent since the news that the former England player has finally been awarded his long-sought-after knighthood. However, the hot sauce enthusiast made sure to wish Nicola's father, Nelson, a happy birthday in a sweet post shared on his Stories this week.
