Parking Payment GuideThere are multiple ways to pay the mall's parking fees - through the Parkonic portal or via Salik, the road toll operator in Dubai. 'The Parkonic app allows motorists to register their vehicle, top up their wallet, find available parking spaces before arrival, manage their account, and settle payments easily,' the mall can either pay via the app or by scanning a QR code displayed at the mall. App users have the option to load up an e-wallet, from which charges are automatically deducted.'If a customer settles their parking fee before exiting … the parking session will automatically close upon departure,' the mall no payment is made in advance, however, the parking fee will be deducted directly from the visitor's Salik wallet upon exit.'If the linked Salik wallet has insufficient funds, the motorist will have a five-day grace period to top up and clear the dues.'Asked how pending payments are tracked and charged, the mall said: 'This would work (in the same way) as the Salik notifications when one visits or crosses Salik gates to go to Dubai. This year's Abu Dhabi's Eid Al Etihad celebrations have been announced

Abu Dhabi is about to get lit – literally. The 54th edition of the UAE's National Day (now proudly called Eid Al Etihad, meaning 'Festival of the Union') is just around the corner, and if previous years are anything to go by, we're in for a dazzling display of heritage, technology and a whole lot of wow-factor. Every December 2, the UAE marks its historic unification – when the seven emirates came together to form a bold new nation back in 1971. But this isn't just a public holiday; it's a full-on cultural extravaganza that celebrates Emirati pride, futuristic ambition and the people who call this country home. What's happening this year? While the full line-up is still under wraps, you can expect the usual suspects: massive fireworks, jaw-dropping drone shows and immersive storytelling that brings the UAE's past, present and future to life. If previous celebrations are any clue, the capital is likely to be the centre stage again. In 2022, synchronised drones danced above water. In 2023, AI-generated visuals transported audiences across time. In 2024, camels, constellations and desert mountains set the scene in Al Ain. In 2025? Think bigger. Think brighter. Think next-level tech mixed with timeless tradition – and maybe even a surprise A-list concert thrown into the mix. Here's what's likely on the cards: Fireworks everywhere – From Yas Island to the Corniche, the skies over Abu Dhabi are expected to light up in green, red, white and black. Drone storytelling shows – They've become a staple of the celebration, and you can bet they'll be even more advanced this year. Free public festivities – Think cultural performances, traditional parades, dance shows and more. (Pro tip: head to Al Maryah Island or downtown Abu Dhabi for the action.) Concerts and surprise pop-ups – Previous years saw a mix of local and international talent. Could 2025 bring another chart-topper to the capital? We're watching closely. Shopping and dining deals – Expect major discounts across malls, hotels and restaurants, especially in tourist hotspots like Yas Bay, Saadiyat and The Galleria. Traffic fine discounts? – In 2024, drivers in four emirates got 50 percent off. Will it return in 2025? Fingers crossed. Free public parking – Keep an eye on Parkonic announcements in Abu Dhabi closer to the date. Planning your break The holiday falls on Tuesday, December 2 and Wednesday, December 3 – so if you play your annual leave cards right (hello, December 1, 4 and 5), you could score a nine-day break. Perfect for a staycation, desert escape, or road trip with friends and family. Eid Al Etihad isn't just a few days of fireworks – it's a month-long moment of reflection and celebration. Expect the skyline to be bathed in national colours, Emirati music to fill every corner of the city and people from all walks of life to come together in joy. One thing's for sure: the UAE knows how to throw a celebration – and at 54 years strong, the energy is only growing. Keep your cameras ready and your National Day flags high – this is going to be one for the books. Dubai's Salik expands paid parking to two Abu Dhabi malls from July 18

More malls, tourist enclaves, and business hubs in Abu Dhabi and Dubai are now offering seamless, ticketless, and barrier-less parking courtesy of Parkonic and Salik PJSC as the payment option. Private company Parkonic confirmed to Khaleej Times on Wednesday that Al Wahda Mall and Dalma Mall will offer paid parking starting July 18. The ANPR (automatic number-plate recognition) cameras that will be used to capture the vehicle licence plate have been installed, and both malls located in Abu Dhabi have been added to the list of malls whose parking operations are managed by Parkonic. Parking charges, however, will only be activated not earlier than Friday, July 18. According to Parkonic, parking at Dalma Mall is free for the first three hours from Monday to Friday and the whole day during weekends and public holidays. The charge after the first three free hours will be Dh10 per hour. Parking will be cashless and ticketless with Salik as the payment option. This means parking charges will be automatically deducted from the vehicle owner's Salik account upon exit. No details were shared about Al Wahda Mall – Parkonic said parking charges are still being finalised. Payment will not be via Salik, but there are options to pay using the Parkonic app, website, or at the mall payment kiosks. Meanwhile, in Dubai, parking at Golden Mile Galleria, shopping mall in Palm Jumeirah; The Town Mall in Jebel Ali and Dubai Investment Park; Dubai Sports City (surface and multi-storey parking); The Palm Monorail are now operated by Parkonic. Parking at these establishments and areas is cashless and ticketless with Salik as the payment option. Back in November last year, Parkonic and Dubai's toll gate operator Salik PJSC entered into a partnership where Parkonic will promote Salik as the preferred payment channel for its customers. This means parking charges are automatically deducted from the car owner's Salik account. There are no parking barriers in most areas allowing motorist to just drive in, park, and drive out. The system uses ANPR (automatic number-plate recognition) cameras to capture the vehicle licence plate and determine the corresponding parking fees to be paid.

Salik is offering ticketless parking to residents of Deira Enrichment Project… In the latest from a slew of road network and parking updates in the city, Salik has now introduced ticketless parking for residents and visitors of the Deira Enrichment Project. A new ticketless system implemented through Salik's partner firm Parkonic will allow some residents to enter and exit parking zones using their vehicle licence plates as digital tickets. No need for physical tickets or payment apps. Residents can have a yearly membership through Parkonic's app, costing Dhs5,000. Surprisingly, visitors can also have an annual membership, albeit a little pricier, for Dhs7,500, both of these prices excluding a five per cent value-added tax. Including VAT, an hourly parking costs Dh5 and Dh25 for overnight, including VAT across eleven districts. Parkonic, like Parkin, is one of the largest private parking operators in the UAE. Salik has collaborated with them to enhance parking and payment systems across the UAE by eliminating the need for apps and tickets and using Salik's e-wallet system. According to a report by Khaleej Times, the partnership is based on a five-year contract, during which the collaboration will result in the integration of Salik's e-Wallet into 107-plus locations under it's operation and any future locations it may operate in the UAE. Earlier this year, Salik introduced variable toll pricing. The new dynamic pricing applies for all days of the year, except Ramadan, which will have separate rates, and was implemented starting January 31, allowing motorists to travel toll free in certain passages of time in the day. Adjustments have been made according to peak and non-peak weekdays, the toll sits at Dhs6 during morning peak hours (6am to 10am) and evening peak hours (4pm to 8pm). During off-peak hours, between 10am and 4pm, and from 8pm to 1am, the toll is Dhs4. On Sundays, excluding public holidays, special occasions, or major events, the toll is Dhs4 throughout the day and free from 1am to 6am. @ Images: Getty > Sign up for FREE to get exclusive updates that you are interested in
