MTV Announces Return to All-Music Video Format. But There's a Catch.

MTV will go back to its roots—for a limited time only. The first-ever all-music TV network has announced a return to its 24/7 music video format ahead of the 2025 Video Music Awards. But there are a few catches. Returning MTV executive Van Toffler has dreamed up a week of all-music programming for three MTV channels during the week leading up to the VMAs on Sept. 7, Variety reported. The all-music video lineup will include videos selected by past MTV personalities and winning VMA artists. A press release posted by Remind magazine teased, 'In the run up to the 2025 Video Music Awards on CBS on September 7, MTV will air an unprecedented week of 24/7 music videos across MTV2, MTV Live and MTV Classic, both classic and current, in a revival of the brand's early DNA reimagined for today's audiences. Past VMA winners and legendary MTV personalities will return to curate and spotlight their seven favorite music videos of all time, offering fans an intimate glimpse into the music videos that shaped them.' MTV, Music Television, launched on Aug. 1, 1981, at 12:01 a.m. with imagery of a rocket launch and an astronaut planting an MTV flag on the moon. 'Ladies and gentlemen, rock 'n roll,' an announcer said. The first video to air on MTV was The Buggles' "Video Killed The Radio Star.' Viewers were introduced to VJs Alan Hunter, Nina Blackwood, J.J. Jackson, Mark Goodman and Martha Quinn. Other videos played during that fateful first 24 hours included Pat Benatar's 'You Better Run,' 'Hold on Loosely' by 38 Special, 'You Better You Bet' by The Who, and 'Brass in Pocket' by The Pretenders. Music videos were the only thing on the menu at MTV for several years, but the network eventually gave way to reality shows, game shows, and animated series. Original VJ Alan Hunter told the New York Post that a taping for spring break segments in Daytona Beach in 1986 spawned a change. 'I was the VJ that loved being out of the studio the most, so I was the one they sent to spring break to be a part of the thousands of screaming young guys cracking beers over my head,' the MTV host said. 'And that was kind of the beginning of different kinds of shows that you would see. That was when MTV decided that they couldn't just be a video jukebox forever. MTV began to train their cameras on the lifestyle of the young folks that were watching MTV.'MTV Announces Return to All-Music Video Format. Hailey Bieber posts rare photo of baby son Jack after Justin's outing with controversial former child star

Hailey Bieber appeared to focus on the positive Thursday as she celebrated her son Jack—despite a string of eyebrow-raising moments from husband Justin Bieber. Just the day before, the 31-year-old pop star was seen shirtless during a bizarre outing in Beverly Hills. That followed an appearance with a controversial former child star who was once charged with a felony for immoral communication with a minor. And all of it came on the heels of another head-scratching moment, when Justin shared what many fans called a backhanded compliment about Hailey's latest Vogue cover. Unbothered—or at least putting on a brave face—Hailey, 28, took to Instagram Stories on Thursday to share a sweet black-and-white photo of baby Jack sitting on the floor with his back to the camera. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'My sweet baby is 9 months old today,' she captioned the rare snap of their only child. On Wednesday, Justin was spotted with That's So Raven star Kyle Massey and his nepo baby fiancee Hana Giraldo, who is the daughter of Pat Benatar. Bieber and Massey are longtime pals and were first thrust into the spotlight together back in 2015 when the singer's friend Lil Twist was sentenced to one year in jail for breaking into Massey's apartment and robbing his brother Chris in November 2014. Lil Twist pled no contest to six charges at the time. In July 2021 Massey was charged with a felony for immoral communication with a minor over allegations he sent pornographic material to a 13-year-old girl. Massey said in a statement through his attorney, Lee Hutton, at the time: 'No child should ever be exposed to sexually explicit materials and I unequivocally and categorically deny any alleged misconduct.' This came just days after a report from The Daily Beast brought to light even more allegations against the actor in which several women came forward claiming Massey's behavior was part of a predatory pattern. The publication spoke with several women who alleged that they had communicated with Massey while they were teenagers in high school over various social media apps including Snapchat and Instagram. The civil case was dropped in December 2019 after the plaintiff's lawyer withdrew. Bieber's outing comes after he deleted an awkward caption where he admitted he accused his wife Hailey of being 'disrespectful' and called for 'more intimacy' in their marriage, while he attempted to congratulate her for gracing the cover of Vogue. The singer was lambasted by his followers for his original post, where he admitted he declared to Hailey during a heated argument that she would never make it onto Vogue's front cover. While his caption was meant to be humorous, with Justin quipping he was 'clearly mistaken,' many of his followers failed to see the funny side, and the comments section was flooded with criticism. Following the backlash, Justin appeared to delete the caption from his post, replacing it with a shrugging emoji. The star sparked the huge frenzy when he posted a snap of Hailey's Vogue cover, and admitted he cruelly told her she would never achieve the feat during a row. 'Yo this reminds me when Hailey and I got into a huge fight, I told hails that she would never be on the cover of vogue, Yikes I know, so mean, For some reason because I felt so disrespected I thought I gotta get even,' he wrote. Justin continued: 'Think as we mature we realize that we're not helping anything by getting even, we're honestly just prolonging what we really want which is intimacy and connection.' He concluded his post by writing a message directly to Hailey, which read: 'So baby u already know but forgive me for saying u wouldn't get a vogue cover cuz clearly i was sadly mistaken.'

Justin Bieber steps out with controversial former Disney child star amid concerning public outbursts

Justin Bieber was seen stepping out with a controversial former child star this week amid his latest round of concerning public outbursts. A grinning Bieber, 31, who sparked backlash for revealing his past doubts over wife Hailey ever getting a Vogue cover, visited the bank with That's So Raven star Kyle Massey and his nepo baby fiancee Hana Giraldo, who is the daughter of Pat Benatar. Bieber flashed his tattoos in a graphic print tee and shorts while Massey, 33 - who played Cory Baxter on the Disney show - wore an all-black ensemble with a red baseball cap. Many saw Justin's caption as a backhanded compliment and something 'so unnecessary' to share with his followers. 'It's okay to have secrets Justin,' one commented. Another wrote: 'You couldn't waterboard this information out of me lmao.' 'Why would you write something like that... put that phone down please,' a third urged. Others criticised him for accidentally writing 'sadly mistaken' versus 'happily' mistaken, since he obviously meant to congratulate her on the achievement. The singer was lambasted by his followers for his original post (pictured), where he admitted he made the shock comment to Hailey during a heated argument Following the backlash, Justin appeared to delete the caption from his post, replacing it with a shrugging emoji In the interview, reporter Alessandra Codinha shared that Justin emailed her a cute note about his wife of seven years. 'I've done a lot of dumb things in my life,' he wrote to the journalist by email, 'but the smartest thing I've ever done was marry Hailey.' The Canadian artist also shared he loves family life with the beauty: 'I'm walking in the days I always dreamed of.' As far as having more kids they both want that. She definitely wants at least one more baby, maybe more, the Vogue writer shared. But Hailey plans to take it 'a kid at a time.' Hailey also noted that Justin sees her as a 'superhero' after welcoming their child: 'At least that was the case for me,' she added. And Hailey added their baby made their marriage even stronger. 'It's been my biggest teacher so far,' she said, 'the biggest teacher in my relationship. You see your partner so differently.' Justin is an 'amazing dad,' she added: 'I think you empathize with your parents a lot more. There's so much perspective that comes with it.' Justin also emailed the writer this note in support of his wife: 'She's in the spotlight, and has the attention because of her effortless knack for style, business, art, and fashion. And the way she makes being a mom and wife look easy.' The model also said Justin has coached her on fame. 'I've learned so much from Justin, really. He's been doing this literally since he was a child and he has had to face the most scrutiny of any person that I know. He was like, 'Baby, trust me, I've been here before many, many times. You're not going to win. There is no winning,'' she said. She also said: 'I have a real life. My real life is that I get to wake up to my beautiful family and my son and my friends and I have people that know me and love me and I love them.'
