'No honey, no trap': Maharashtra CM Fadnavis dismisses Opposition's claims

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday strongly rejected Opposition's claim about a honeytrap scandal involving 72 officials and some ministers of the state, saying 'there is no honey and no trap". Speaking in the Assembly, he asked the opposition and Congress legislator Nana Patole to come with concrete proof and solid information to corner the government. He reiterated that there was no honeytrap scandal. CM Fadnavis said that a complaint was filed by a woman against deputy collector in Nashik but the complainant has thereafter withdrawn it. Referring to Patole's repeated reference about the Hotel owner allegedly involved in hatching the trap and blackmail the victims, CM Fadnavis displayed a 'relevant paper' in the House, saying that the hotel owner in question is a local Congress unit chief. He thereby put the ball in the Congress party's court. CM Fadnavis said that Maharashtra is cultured state and there is no threat to it. 'However, those who are poisoning the atmosphere need to be controlled." Earlier, Patole on Wednesday and Thursday raked up the Honeytrap scandal issue in the state assembly. CM's statement denying honey trap scandal was in the wake of Speaker's directive. Patole raised the Honeytrap scandal targeting Maharashtra's high ranking officers and politicians and displayed a pen drive. Patole, who is a former assembly Speaker, did not stop there but said he is ready to show the content in the pen drive to the government. Patole warned that it would be detrimental to the state if the confidential and sensitive information has been leaked during the Honeytrap scandal. 'Through honey trap, important documents of the state are in the hands of anti-social elements. I do not want to defame anyone. But the government is not serious about all this. The government is not ready to give even a simple statement,' he said. 'More than 72 officials and some ministers of the state have been caught in the net of honeytrap. Confidential information is being collected from the honeytrappers. Also, some officials have been blackmailed and have thought of extreme things like suicide. The government is not ready to say anything on this. That is why I raised this issue in the Legislative Assembly," said Patole. He also expressed serious displeasure over state government's reluctance to make statement explaining what action has been taken in this case. He brought to the Speaker's notice that despite his directive the government has not made any statement on Thursday. Patole urged the Speaker to give strong directives to immediately make a statement. NCP-SP legislator Jayant Patil had said that the Nashik honey trap case is a serious one. He also demanded that the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister make statements on all these cases.

Nana Patole raises issue of ‘honey trap' racket in Maharashtra

Congress MLA Nana Patole on Wednesday raised serious allegations in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, claiming that senior bureaucrats and ministers may have been targeted in a honeytrap operation, leading to possible leaks of confidential government documents. Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Patole said, 'There is growing concern that classified information from the state has been accessed through a systematic honeytrap. Reports suggest the involvement of IAS officers and sitting ministers. If this material has reached anti-national networks, it poses a direct threat to state security.' He further demanded that the government clarify the matter in the House by the end of the day, warning that the Opposition would otherwise intensify its protest. Speaker Rahul Narwekar briefly responded, saying, 'The government should take note of the matter raised.' In a statement outside the House, state revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said, 'The Home Department and the police must be looking into it .' Opposition leaders alleged that several top officials were reportedly recorded in a compromising position at a luxury hotel in Nashik. According to them, the footage is believed to have been used for blackmail, and at least 72 names have surfaced during preliminary inquiries. Outside the House, NCP (SP) leader Jitendra Awhad said, 'I am not aware about the exact case. This is not just a question of misconduct — this could be a serious breach of public trust and institutional integrity. If proven, the accused must face legal consequences.'

Patole alleges graft in 2,368cr waste project bidding

Mumbai: Congress MLA Nana Patole on Thursday alleged irregularities in the BMC's project for legacy waste remediation at the Deonar dumping ground, with the estimated contract valued at over Rs 2,368 crore. Patole said that two companies were kept out of the tendering process to favour a specific bidder. He said that while hundreds of acres of land were given to Adani in Dharavi for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP), the BMC was compelled to spend Rs 2,368 crore on clearing the Deonar dumping ground for Adani to shift ineligible Dharavi residents to Deonar on a rental basis. Patole raised the issue through a point of propriety in the Legislative Assembly, claiming cabinet-level conflicts over the project and requesting clarification from chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. The project is being executed by the BMC's Solid Waste Management (SWM) department. Congress alleges irregularities in BMC's Rs 2,368-crore tender for cleaning up Deonar landfill

Alleging irregularities in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)'s Rs 2,368-crore tender for cleaning waste piles from the Deonar landfill through bioremediation, Congress MLA Nana Patole on Thursday said two companies have been kept out of the tender to pick a favourite company. Raising the Point of Propriety in the Assembly, Patole said while hundreds of acres of land have been given to Adani in Dharavi for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP), the BMC has been forced to bear the burden of Rs 2,368 crore to clear the Deonar dumping ground for Adani to shift ineligible Dharavi residents to Deonar. He said 'there was a gang war in the state cabinet over the project' and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis must clarify on it. 'In Dharavi, 311 acres of land is being given to Adani but the BMC is going to clean up the Deonar dumping ground for Adani. The BMC is already on way to becoming bankrupt but it is spending Rs 2,368 crore for Adani. Nearly 50,000 ineligible residents of Dharavi are going to be shifted to Deonar on rental housing basis. The BMC is going to impose a garbage collection fee from Mumbaikars to make up for this spending. This is nothing but a loot of Mumbaikars and people of the state,' Patole said. The BMC has extended its deadline for the Rs 2,368 crore tender to appoint a contractor to carry out bioremediation of 185 lakh tonnes of waste and reclaim 110 hectares of land at the Deonar site over a period of three years. Bioremediation is a process involving treating garbage with the help of natural elements like air, sunlight, and microorganisms. Over time, as the biodegradable waste decomposes, the remaining non-biodegradable extracts are either recycled or treated artificially. According to civic data, of the 1.85 crore metric tonnes of waste which is currently stacked at the site, nearly 48 per cent comprises construction debris, 41 per cent is inert waste while 10 per cent is accounted for by dry, miscellaneous waste.
