Patriots TE Hunter Henry teases changes in Josh McDaniels' offense
New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry opened up about what has changed with Josh McDaniels returning as offensive coordinator.
Henry spent his first season with the Patriots with McDaniels as the offensive coordinator back in 2021, but McDaniels left for the head coaching job in Las Vegas the following season. During his run under the six-time Super Bowl winner, Henry proved to be one of the go-to targets by recording 50 catches for 603 yards and nine touchdowns.
Henry figures to remain a focal point in the Patriots' offense with McDaniels returning and the connection he has already built with second-year quarterback Drake Maye. When appearing on Patriots All Access, the veteran tight end teased some changes in McDaniels' returning offense in New England.
'It's a lot of similar things. It's kind of like getting back into it, hearing the verbiage again, kind of getting a feel for things a little bit and seeing things," said Henry. "Working through it with Drake, obviously, it's different in how he sees things. We've added a few new flavors to the offense a little bit. It's been good.'
Henry's familiarity with both McDaniels and Maye, albeit in different situations, could prove to be extremely valuable this season.
It could lead to him having his best year yet in a Patriots uniform.
