Xbox Games Showcase 2025: Persona 4 Remake, Revival, Announced

After voice actors Erin Fitzgerald and Yuri Lowenthal, who play Chie and Yosuke in the Persona 4 series of games, respectively, and after a new domain, hinting at something Persona 4 related was uncovered in March, Persona 4 Revival, a full-fledged 3D remake, was finally announced during Xbox Games Showcase 2025. The teaser trailer, which is just short of 50 seconds, shows some of the sights to be found in the rural town of Inaba, including Naganaki Shrine, Yasogami High School and the Central Shopping District. In-between shots, a tower of old CRT TVs are shown turning on and off before the red glow of Persona 4's infamous Midnight Channel comes on screen. To wrap things off, the player protagonist, canonically named Yu Narukami, can be seen lightly jogging from the shrine into the shopping district, which serves to show off the game's revamped visuals. Like in the case of Persona 3 Reload, which was similarly a ground-up remake of a PlayStation 2 classic, fans can expect Persona 4 Revival to bring, beyond said revamped visuals, numerous quality of life changes, retouched gameplay mechanics and more. Fans are also speculating that Persona 4 Revival might correct its outdated views on especially gender and sexuality, alongside other minor story changes. No new characters are expected to be introduced, as was the case with Persona 4 Golden or with Persona 5 Royal, rather, Persona 4 Revival is likely to introduce additional Personas, outfits and animated cutscenes. In a letter from Persona 4 Revival Kazuhisa Wada, he states that the game will be a 'fresh and surprising product for both newcomers and long-time fans' and that the studio he helms, P-STUDIO, is 'actively preparing for the future development of the Persona series.' Persona 6, anyone? Meanwhile, CGM's Zubi Khan, in his 9/10 review, has appreciated the most recent Persona remake, Persona 3 Reload, dubbing it 'a radiant remake'. Persona 4 Revival will release on Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass, PlayStation 5, and Steam. Be sure to check out all of the other announcements from the Xbox Games Showcase

Persona 4 Remake Announces Itself With Laughably Short Trailer

During today's Xbox Summer Game Fest event, the long-rumored remake of Persona 4 was finally announced... but that's about all we got from the ridiculously short teaser revealing the upcoming remake. Here's the trailer for Persona 4 Revival, which doesn't have a release date: In the extremely (incredibly) brief teaser released by Atlus during the event, we saw a few seconds of gameplay, got a name for the remake, and a list of platforms that the remake of the beloved JRPG will be available on in the future. Persona 4 Revival has been rumored for years now, with leakers and insiders hinting at the game's existence. And then on May 28, Persona 4 voice actor Yuri Lowenthal posted on BlueSky—in response to fans asking him about the then-rumored remake and his return—saying that he wasn't coming back despite possibly begging Atlus to return. 'And for those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake,' posted Lowenthal, who also voices Spider-Man in the Insomniac games on PS4/PS5. 'I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don't want me to come back.' This was a big hint that the remake was happening. And now, courtesy of Summer Game Fest, we finally got a teaser. There's not really much to it, but I suspect fans of the original Persona 4 and the franchise as a whole will be digging into every frame to see what they can uncover. Persona 4 Revival arrives on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in the future. No Switch 2 port was announced. Which is odd, but hey, maybe things will change between now and whenever the remake finally arrives. . For the latest news, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Persona 4 Revival is real and coming to PS5, PC and Xbox

The Persona 4 remake is real and its going to be called Persona 4 Revival . Atlus shared a trailer for the game during the Xbox Games Showcase, confirming its upgraded, likely Unreal Engine 5-powered visuals, and that it's coming to Xbox platforms. The trailer is remarkably short, all you really get are shots of Persona 4's small-town countryside setting, snippets of the game's score, some spooky TVs and the gray-haired player character running around. But if you've played the beloved RPG, you don't need much more to get the gist. Persona 3 Reload was released in 2024, featuring the Tokyo-set third game in the franchise, but with new graphics powered by Unreal. This next remake seems like its going to continue the trend with the fourth game in the franchise. Notably, without the voice talent of Yuri Lowenthal or Erin Fitzgerald, who both confirmed the existence of the remake and that they wouldn't be in it at the end of May. Persona 4 Revival is coming to Xbox Series X / S, PC, Xbox Cloud Streaming and PS5. It'll also be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

Persona 4 is getting a remake

The worst-kept secret in gaming is no longer a secret. At the Xbox Games Showcase, Atlus announced that a full remake of Persona 4 is in development. It's called Persona 4 Revival, and while there weren't many details revealed — like when it'll actually launch — we did get a brief teaser trailer. It's coming to Xbox and PC, and will be available for Game Pass subscribers. While it was just announced, the remake has seemed like a foregone conclusion for some time — and not just because several voice actors leaked its existence. Persona 3 received a similar remake last year with Persona 3 Reload, which was very well received, and in 2023 both Persona 3 and Persona 4 were re-released on modern platforms, introducing them to new audiences. Persona 4 — which added a murder mystery element to the long-running RPG series — was originally released on the PlayStation 2 in 2008, though it received a major boost with the enhanced PS Vita version Persona 4 Golden three years later.

Yuri Lowenthal seems to have woken up and chosen violence. In a post on social media,

Voice actor seemingly confirms a Persona 4 remake. the much-beloved voice performer wrote that he would not be reprising his role as Yosuke in the Persona 4 is news to everybody else because Atlus has not officially confirmed the existence of a Persona 4 remake. Lowenthal wrote that he begged to be included in the cast but that, 'They don't want me to come back,' which might explain why a veteran voice actor might have so casually revealed the existence of an as yet unconfirmed game.
