Xbox Games Showcase 2025: Persona 4 Remake, Revival, Announced
After voice actors Erin Fitzgerald and Yuri Lowenthal, who play Chie and Yosuke in the Persona 4 series of games, respectively, and after a new domain, hinting at something Persona 4 related was uncovered in March, Persona 4 Revival, a full-fledged 3D remake, was finally announced during Xbox Games Showcase 2025.
The teaser trailer, which is just short of 50 seconds, shows some of the sights to be found in the rural town of Inaba, including Naganaki Shrine, Yasogami High School and the Central Shopping District. In-between shots, a tower of old CRT TVs are shown turning on and off before the red glow of Persona 4's infamous Midnight Channel comes on screen. To wrap things off, the player protagonist, canonically named Yu Narukami, can be seen lightly jogging from the shrine into the shopping district, which serves to show off the game's revamped visuals.
Like in the case of Persona 3 Reload, which was similarly a ground-up remake of a PlayStation 2 classic, fans can expect Persona 4 Revival to bring, beyond said revamped visuals, numerous quality of life changes, retouched gameplay mechanics and more. Fans are also speculating that Persona 4 Revival might correct its outdated views on especially gender and sexuality, alongside other minor story changes. No new characters are expected to be introduced, as was the case with Persona 4 Golden or with Persona 5 Royal, rather, Persona 4 Revival is likely to introduce additional Personas, outfits and animated cutscenes.
In a letter from Persona 4 Revival Kazuhisa Wada, he states that the game will be a 'fresh and surprising product for both newcomers and long-time fans' and that the studio he helms, P-STUDIO, is 'actively preparing for the future development of the Persona series.' Persona 6, anyone?
Meanwhile, CGM's Zubi Khan, in his 9/10 review, has appreciated the most recent Persona remake, Persona 3 Reload, dubbing it 'a radiant remake'.
Persona 4 Revival will release on Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass, PlayStation 5, and Steam.

The Outer Worlds 2 Direct: Arcadia Is Nice This Time of Year
Immediately following the Xbox Games Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2025, The Outer Worlds 2 Direct revealed all of the new mechanics coming to Obsidian's upcoming sequel. It has been an absolute whirlwind of news, previews, world premieres and new gameplay reveals during the weekend of Summer Game Fest 2025. New looks were given to titles like Grounded 2, Ninja Gaiden IV, and even a new Call of Duty was announced, however, Obsidian Entertainment followed the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 with their very own The Outer Worlds 2 Direct. The teaser trailer presented at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 presentation can be seen in full below, and a written breakdown of the direct follows. One of the most interesting things following the sequel is The Outer Worlds 2 is leaving the previous star system of Halycon, and it takes place in a further star system from Earth than even Halycon, in the Arcadia star cluster. What was made immediately transparent by the direct, is Obsidian leaned fully into their trademark humour and storytelling, and chaos will ensue everywhere. Arcadia is a lawless system cut off from Earth, featuring a pressure cooker of a colony bearing immense pressure, torn apart by space-time rifts, factions with ever-shifting alliances, and these three power-hungry factions locked in a war for control. Like The Outer Worlds (and mostly every other Obsidian Entertainment game), The Outer Worlds 2 allows the player to create themselves from head to toe, giving an in-depth character creator to the player. In The Outer Worlds 2, you've been sent in as an Earth Directorate agent but how you approach problems, tense scenarios, and storyline segments is entirely up to the player. Obsidian gives players complete control, allowing you to select from a group of traits, flaws, and backgrounds that Obsidian promises will 'shape every decision.' The three warring factions are as follows: The Protectorate, Auntie's Choice, and The Order of the Ascendant. The Protectorate is the law of Arcadia and believes order = everything, while they believe they're beloved peacemakers, it appears locals have differing opinions. Auntie's Choice are those who align themselves with the Matriarch of The Outer Worlds 2, Auntie Cleo (her origin is explored in Prime Video's Secret Level series). This branch of her company is Auntie Cleo x Spacer's Choice, an in-game collaboration that promises freedom, fulfillment, and Auntie Cleo product placement in spades. The Order of the Ascendant is a science-based faction, determined to perfect humanity by solving the Universal Equation. In The Outer Worlds 2, players will travel with six companions and Obsidian has built upon the system considerably, each with personal stakes in the colony's future and of course, their own opinions on you're behaviour. The companions are listed (along with their allegiances) below courtesy of Obsidian Entertainment. Niles: Another Earth Directorate recruit torn between duty and defection. Inez: A former experiment from Auntie's Choice with a grafted combat edge and a moral core. Aza: A chaos-loving Rift worshipper with a taste for violence and room to grow—maybe. Marisol: A stoic killer from the Order of the Ascendant with calculations to settle. Tristen: A walking tank and judge from the Protectorate, looking to dispense justice — or redefine it. Valerie: A floating, chirping support unit with unexpected upgrades and untapped potential. Fans who pre-purchase can claim the Commander Zane Pack which comes with Commander Zane-theme armor skin, helmet, signature pistol and dagger, and an Earth Directorate drone companion pet. It's worth noting that if fans purchase the title from or the Xbox Marketplace, the purchase is cross-play enabled, you just have to link the accounts to pick up and play on either platform. Xbox Games Showcase 2025: Plague Tale Spin-Off Title, Resonance, Releasing in 2026
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy was officially announced at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, after accidentally leaking on the internet just the day before. This new game coming from the French developers Asobo Studio boasts an original story, separate from mainline entries A Plague Tale: Innocence (2019) and A Plague Tale: Requiem (2022) and features Sophia, a pirate captain who encounters series protagonists Amicia and Hugo de Rune as they seek voyage to the island of La Cuna. The story of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy takes place fifteen years before the events of A Plague Tale: Requiem, as a younger Sophia pursues her destiny of becoming the firm plunderer Amicia and Hugo know her to be. The trailer sees Sophia raiding tombs, traversing what very much seems to be Venice on a gondola and fighting off in a Spartan-like arena before uncovering the carcass, laden in strands of golden lights, of what seems to be the Minotaur. According to Studio Asobo, Resonance is looking to blend 'combat, myth and fate' as Sophia navigates between the 14th century and the time of the Ancient Greeks. In her quest, she must overcome mazes, traps and puzzles and escape a shadowy presence intent on deterring her from the mysterious island. Surprisingly, the hordes of rats which literally infested the world of the first two Plague Tale games, are nowhere to be found as of yet. CGM's reviews of both A Plague Tale: Innocence and A Plague Tale: Requiem have been glowing, with my colleague Zubi Khan describing the first entry as a 'engaging and dark story' and rewarding it with a 8.5 score and opining that the sequel feels 'imperative to fans of the original' and hailing it with a review score of 8/10.
