Construction worker Cardong Trumpo wins ‘Pilipinas Got Talent' season 7
MANILA: Construction worker Ricardo Cadavero — who is best known as Cardong Trumpo — was named the winner of the seventh season of 'Pilipinas Got Talent' (PGT) on Sunday (June 22), at The Theater, Solaire in Paranaque City. Before the winners' announcement, Trumpoaptivated the audience and 'Pilipinas Got Talent' judges Kathryn Bernardo, Donny Pangilinan, Eugene Domingo, and Freddie 'FMG' Garcia, with his routine featuring spinning tops of different sizes. Among the highlights of the exhibitionist's routine was maintaining his balance while the tops of different sizes kept spinning, which capped off with him balancing a massive top on his left hand. 'We're all here to support you, Tatay. Did you know that they asked me what I was looking for aside from talent in 'Pilipinas Got Talent?' For me, it's the heart. The moment you stepped onstage during auditions, I found what I was looking for,' Bernardo said of his routine. Antipolo City 2nd District Rep Romeo Acop said that choosing not to pursue the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte would convey the wrong message—that justice is selective and only applies to the poor and powerless. Trumpo was eventually declared the winner after receiving 99.5%, a near-perfect score based on the final tally of the judges and audience votes. He received P2 million as a prize for his win. Coming in second was hip-hop dance group Femme MNL with 50.4% while magician Carl Quion garnered 47.8%. Other finalists included Manza (drag queen and aerial performer), Jeffrey Bangcaya (fire dancer), Jessie J (contemporary dancer), NDDU Gnrls (hip-hop dance group), and Ody Sto. Domingo (magician). The seventh season of 'Pilipinas Got Talent' marks the talent show's return to the spotlight after a seven-year hiatus. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
