On b'day, sales manager fatally stabbed after fight with momo vendor, aides in Ghazipur
New Delhi: A birthday celebration turned tragic in east Delhi's Ghazipur area when a sales manager was fatally stabbed, and his friend was injured during an alleged violent altercation with a momo vendor and his associates. The incident occurred on July 30, when the victim, Vikas Walecha, was celebrating his birthday with colleagues. During the party, one of the attendees reportedly brought up a previous scuffle with a local momo seller. The group then decided to confront the vendor in the Paper Market area near the CNG pump around 10.30 pm. According to police, the momo vendor—identified as Salman Khan (24)—called for reinforcements after spotting the group. He allegedly retrieved an iron rod and summoned his associates, Azad Kumar Mishra (31), Monu Mishra (28), and a 13-year-old boy. A violent clash ensued, during which Vikas was stabbed multiple times. He was rushed to a hospital by one of the accused but was declared dead on arrival. "Upon identifying Salman near a wine shop, the situation escalated rapidly. Salman armed himself and called others. In the scuffle that followed, Vikas was fatally stabbed and others were injured," he said. Initially, Vikas's friends told police the violence stemmed from a road rage incident after their cars allegedly brushed against another vehicle. However, further investigation revealed the altercation was premeditated, stemming from a quarrel with the vendor two days earlier, which had been discussed during the birthday gathering. While some members of the group managed to flee the scene, Vikas and Sumit were allegedly caught and assaulted. Police have arrested three individuals—Salman Khan, Azad Kumar Mishra, Monu Mishra and apprehended a 13-year-old minor. A case has been registered at the Ghazipur Police Station under sections 103 (murder), 109(1) (attempt to murder), 191(2) (rioting), and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is ongoing.

17yo charged with orchestrating attack that led to stabbing death of Luke Manassa
A 17-year-old has been accused of allegedly issuing the attack contract that led to the fatal stabbing of 21-year-old Luke Manassa in a tragic case of mistaken identity. Mr Manassa was allegedly stabbed after arriving with his girlfriend at a home in Driftway Dr, Pemulwuy, in Sydney's west, about 10.45pm on June 26. Despite being able to get back into his car and drive a short distance, he succumbed to his injuries and could not be revived. He died at the scene. NSW Police were told two people wearing disguises and dark clothing had attacked Mr Manassa. Two boys, aged 16 and 17, were arrested in early July in Mount Druitt and South Penrith respectively and charged with Mr Manassa's murder. On Wednesday, detectives executed a search warrant in Blacktown and arrested another 17-year-old boy about 7am. He was taken to Blacktown Police Station, where he was charged with manslaughter and knowingly/recklessly direct criminal group assist crime. He was refused bail and appeared at a children's court on Wednesday. Police will allege in court the teen issued the contract to carry out the attack on another man, but Mr Manassa was targeted in a case of mistaken identity. Mr Manassa did not live at the Pemulwuy home but was known to visit the property. Police have previously said the owner of the Pemulwuy home was known to them. Detective Superintendent Joseph Doueihi on July 4 said investigators were yet to confirm a clear motive, however mistaken identity was 'more than likely'. 'It perhaps (was) the wrong target … more than likely, this is a case of mistaken identity, but it's still early days before we can absolutely confirm that,' he said. Superintendent Doueihi described the attack as 'very amateurish' and said it lacked the evidence of planning typically seen in gang-related hits, including expensive getaway cars or firebombed vehicles. Mr Manassa's funeral in the week after his death was an emotional affair . His mother Theresa Manassa was photographed in tears, hugging close family and friends at the conclusion of a touching memorial attended by hundreds. The end of the funeral was marked by the release of 21 white doves, commemorating Luke's 21 years, along with basketball balloons – a sport he loved. An emotional haka was led by Luke's Polynesian colleagues at Mann Group. Several police cars watched on nearby as hundreds gathered for the service. A guard of honour was formed leading to the church, made up of employees from the family business Mann Group – dressed in fluorescent orange construction shirts – and schoolchildren from nearby parishes. Police said investigations under Strike Force Hickety are ongoing.

Anthony Koletti, partner of con-woman Melissa Caddick, charged with common assault
The partner of the late Melissa Caddick has been charged with the assault of an elderly woman at a park not far to where she disappeared from. Police charged Anthony Koletti with assault on the 73-year-old woman after he handed himself into Waverley Police station on Wednesday. The alleged incident took place last Wednesday in Vaucluse. It comes after police made an appeal for information, releasing a photograph of a man in a black Under Armour t-shirt, black cap and sunglasses. A statement from NSW Police says the 73-year-old woman alleged she was assaulted by a man at about 5pm on Wednesday, July 23 in Lighthouse Reserve at Vaucluse. The elderly woman did not require medical treatment. Police made a public appeal for information on Tuesday, releasing the image of a man in a black Under Armour t-shirt, black cap and sunglasses. Mr Koletti, 43, attended Waverley Police Station at about 6.30pm on Wednesday, and has since been charged with common assault. He was granted conditional bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on September 5. NewsWire approached Mr Koletti at the hairdressing salon where he works in Rose Bay earlier on Wednesday. The part-time DJ and hairdresser refused to speak to our reporter and asked him to leave the salon. Ms Caddick went missing just hours after her Dover Heights mansion was raided by the AFP and ASIC in November 2020. The raid was conducted over a Ponzi scheme which she used to fleece investors of $20m to $30m. Ms Caddick's severed foot was found three months later on an isolated beach on the NSW South Coast, some 400km away from where she was last seen. A coronial inquest held in 2023 found Ms Caddick was dead, but did not determine how, when, or where she died. During the inquest, Deputy State Coroner Elizabeth Ryan concluded it was 'most unlikely' the foot was severed 'as a result of a deliberate act'. Mr Koletti has never been charged with any crime relating to Ms Caddick's disappearance or her criminal actions.

Kyle Sandilands' chauffeur George Plassaras breaks silence after horror crash
Radio giant Kyle Sandilands' chauffeur has shared horror details of the injuries he suffered in an accident in Sydney's eastern suburbs on the weekend. George Plassaras, 52, broke multiple bones in the collision involving a $1 million Rolls-Royce. The Rolls-Royce, allegedly driven by a 23-year-old woman, crashed into Mr Plassaras, who was driving a Mercedes on New South Head Road, Rose Bay, about 3.30am on Saturday. Among the injuries, he suffered a broken spine, broken ribs, a ruptured spleen and diaphragm, a torn open abdomen, two broken hips and two broken femurs. Speaking from hospital on Wednesday, Mr Plassaras told the Kyle & Jackie O show he faces a long road to recovery. 'I've got no right hip. It's totally gone,' he said. 'I've just been laying flat since Saturday, since the accident.' The driver said he will need hip surgery, which will keep him off the road for some time. He also requires a second operation on his knee. He will not know the extent of the damage to his spine until his hip operation, he explained. 'I've basically got no hip. After the operation, I can't legally drive for six weeks,' he said. 'After the hip (surgery), I've got to do my right knee, they've got to check my X-ray for my spine, once I do my hip. 'There's a long list of injuries.' Earlier in the week Mr Sandilands thanked his chauffeur for being the 'greatest employee ever'. 'What did [he] say when he was taken away in the ambulance? He asked for his mobile phone so he could do what?' he earlier told the show. 'This is a guy at 4.30 in the morning after he has been cut out of his vehicle, he's been trapped in his van for an hour, this poor bloke. 'And he asks the ambo: 'Get my phone so I can make sure Kyle's all right for the week.' Meanwhile, the driver of the Tiffany Blue Rolls Royce, which is thought to be worth $1 million, was not injured. Incredible images from the scene of the crash showed debris from both vehicles strewn all over the eastern suburbs road in the early hours of Saturday morning. NSW Police said Mr Plassaras was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a stable condition. Meanwhile, the driver was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result, police allege. She was arrested and taken to Waverley Police Station where she allegedly refused to undergo a breath analysis. She was charged with cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle and refuse or fail to submit to breath analysis.
