Jennifer Lopez Feels ‘Wiser' and ‘Bulletproof' at Spain Concert Following Ben Affleck Divorce
Jennifer Lopez alluded to growing past the 'scars' of a difficult relationship and becoming a 'better' version of herself in a new song she belted out to fans at a recent show in Spain. Mid-way through the show, 55, told the crowd that the lyrics 'came to me when I was up all night one night,' in a video shared to Instagram on Tuesday, July 8 – but she didn't clarify who inspired them. 'Thank you for the scars you left on my heart… showing me that stars shine brighter in the dark,' she sang. 'I won't fall apart because of who we are, but your broken parts.' Later in the song, she said she feels 'stronger, wiser, better than I've ever been' and 'bulletproof' as she continues to climb out of the 'wreckage' of the unnamed relationship. The debut of powerful song comes six months after her divorce from ex-husband Ben Affleck was finalized in January — and only two weeks before her 56th birthday. While Lopez's Up All Night: Live Tour kicked off on July 8 in Pontevedra, Spain, and will include a total of 21 shows before it ends on August 10 in Kazakhstan, according to a source, she's making sure she still has time to get her party on for her birthday on July 24. As Star previously reported, Lopez was going 'through the motions' and 'crying for a lot' of her 55th birthday last year – which came roughly three months after her separation from The Accountant 2 actor, 52, in April 2024 – but this year, she's ready to go all out! 'She's going to fly out some of her close friends so that she's not alone,' a source revealed earlier this month. 'They'll all get the A-list treatment right alongside her.' As for her plans for her special day, the source said it was a 'toss up' between 'renting out a huge yacht' and going cruising or getting a 'five-star villa' where she can 'lounge and get spa treatments' with her friends before throwing a big birthday bash and really letting loose as she celebrates another year around the sun. 'She's in a way better place and is actually in the mood to party,' added the source. 'She's finally ready to put herself first again and she plans to go big, blow off steam and celebrate like the true superstar she is.' Solve the daily Crossword

Princess Leonor receives naval military honour from her proud father King Felipe - as future Queen of Spain joins Flag Pledge Ceremony in Pontevedra
Princess Leonor of Spain received the Navy Merit Grand Cross and a warm hug from her proud father King Felipe at Flag Pledge Ceremony today. The future queen, 19, attended the solemn Flag Pledge (Jura de Bandera) and delivery of Dispatches of Employment ceremony at the prestigious Naval Military Academy in Marín, Pontevedra, Spain. In a poignant moment symbolising her growing role within the Spanish monarchy, Leonor received the honour from the hands of her father. The award acknowledges her commitment and connection to Spain's armed forces and marks a significant milestone in her royal journey. The Navy Merit Grand Cross is a high-level military decoration awarded for distinguished service within the Navy. Leonor's mother Queen Letizia and younger sister Princess Sofia beamed as they proudly watching the ceremony. Leonor looked graceful and poised as she proudly donned the crisp white uniform, donning a shirt with epaulettes, which she tucked into a pair of belted smart trousers. Leonor wore her long dark blonde tresses in a practical sleek braided low bun, which sat elegantly below her sailor cap. She was seen marching alongside her fellow aspiring officers keeping a stern expression and the level of professionalism one would expect from a marine. The princess spent a year with the Spanish army before training to be a marine and will then move onto her final rotation at the General Air Academy. As she is the heir to the throne, Leonor will one day take the title of Commander in Chief of the armed forces, alongside being the Queen of Spain. She therefore has to spend three years in each section of defence and has already spent a year at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza. At the start of the year, Leonor set sail from Cadiz, Spain, for her navy training cruise. Felipe and Letizia watched proudly she took part in a departure ceremony before setting sail from Cadiz. The Princess is following in the footsteps of her father King Felipe as well as her grandfather Juan Carlos, who all attended military training with every of the three armed services in the country. Navy Captain Pedro Cardona Suanzes, director-commandant of the Naval Military School in Marín, previously described the daily routine of the midshipmen to the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia. He said that their life is 'non-stop' adding that there are constant tasks for them to do, from the minute they wake up until they go to bed in the evening. The captain said the day starts at 6.45am. They then shower, make their beds and go and get breakfast all before 7.30am - when their white uniforms are inspected to be 'spotless'. During the week, all students must be in bed before 10.45pm to ensure they get their full eight hours of sleep. On weekends, pupils are allowed to wake up two hours later than usual, at 8.45am and first-years are allowed to stay up until 1.30am in the morning. Before she started her three-year training, Leonor revealed her enthusiasm for becoming a cadet at the Princesa de Girona Foundation award ceremony in Girona last year. She said at the time: 'I have just finished high school and I am about to start a new stage with a period of military training. 'I am happy because I know how much the Spanish value our armed forces... it is an important moment in my life and I feel very excited and determined to continue learning and giving my best effort.' This is the adorable moment Queen Letizia and Princess of Leonor threw royal protocol to the wind as they were reunited after months apart It comes after another adorable moment Queen Letizia and Princess of Leonor throw royal protocol to the wind as they were reunited after months apart. The Spanish royals were reunited at the Port of Fuerte Amador in Panama City in May, after Letizia flew more than 8,000 miles across the globe to see her beloved daughter. Princess Leonor had been away from her family and friends as she embarks on a navy training course around the world. She and her mother Letizia had not seen each other since January, when she set sail aboard the Juan Sebastian de Elcano. Moving video footage from the Spanish Royal Household captured the moment they were finally reunited, with Leonor running across the port to greet her mother. She was soon embraced in an effusive hug that was so powerful that Leonor had to take her hat off, while the Queen had tears in her eyes. They were then pictured excitedly catching up, as Leonor, who previously graduated from UWC Atlantic in South Wales, has been on a whirlwind adventure. Letizia's visit to Panama was an unofficial trip, sources at Zarzuela Palace told Spain's Hola! Magazine. And their moving reunion was made all the more special - as this weekend Mother's Day is celebrated in Spain. While Leonor was smartly kitted out in her naval uniform, her mother had chosen to wear matching shades of white in casual jeans, T-shirt and white trainers. For the Crown Princess's training cruise, she is sailing through two oceans, and visiting 10 ports and eight countries in America, according to La Vanguardia. She will stay in her stopover in Panama until May 6, where she's been enjoying exploring. The Princess of Asturias, as she is also known, participated in a visit to Panama Viejo, took a short walk to the Cathedral Tower and visited several rooms of the Museum (of Panama Viejo), which has a commemorative plaque of the visit of His Majesty the King 2019. Her Royal Highness and the Queen participated in the reception on board that traditionally takes place and had lunch at the El Nacional restaurant in the old town in Panama. Leonor has so far been to Peru, Chile, Brazil and Uruguay. She is soon due to pass through Colombia and the Dominican Republic, before concluding her journey in New York. The 19-year-old has been serving on the 'Juan Sebastián de Elcano' as a first midshipman. Letizia's welcome marked the first visit the heir to the throne has received from family and loved ones since she set sail on January 11, when she set sail in Cadiz. Meanwhile, her parents smiled and waved goodbye, while King Felipe documented the milestone by snapping photographs of Leonor.

Duathlon: Sherborne's Zoe Tucker wins world championship gold
An amateur running enthusiast has described the "incredible experience" of winning a gold medal at the duathlon world championships - just months after taking up the Tucker, from Sherborne in Dorset, claimed victory in the sprint category at last month's competition in first tried duathlon - a race combining a run, a cycle and another run - at an event in Thruxton, Hampshire, last October, alongside a couple of 46-year-old mother of two said she had "never thought it would be possible" to compete at the highest level. Ms Tucker said she first entered the Thruxton Mass Attack Sprint Duathlon in last year as "a bit of motivation and fun," inspired by two friends who were also taking her surprise, she finished first in her age group and fifth overall, earning her a spot to represent Great Britain at the world championships in Pontevedra, Spain. A member of her local Communifit group, Ms Tucker had already been active in running 5km and 10km races and often cycled to attend parkruns. But competing on the world stage was something she had never described the experience as "an absolute honour.""The scale of the event, the opening ceremony, a parade of nations, walking with GB kit and flag - it was an incredible experience."In the event, she became world champion in the sprint distance - a 5km run, a 19.7km bike ride followed by a 2.5km run to Tucker came first in her category and was also the fastest British woman overall in all age groups."Just coming round the track for the last lap, knowing I was probably going to get over that line first was incredible," she said. Ms Tucker admitted that she had "absolutely never in my wildest dreams" expected to compete - let alone win - at the world for the event meant balancing a demanding schedule, often juggling work and family life. She even brought her children along on training runs and to duathlon events."I'm hopefully inspiring them a bit, but it's been hard," she the next world championships in Abu Dhabi next year, Ms Tucker said was aiming to develop a training plan and would like to get an indoor training bike to sustain competing at the highest level."There are so many activities and opportunities and events - I just think if an opportunity comes your way, just grab it and enjoy it along the way," she said. Advice about syncing exercise to menstrual cycles is all over social media. Does it work?
Cycle syncing helps Simone Saunders feel prepared. The practice of tracking each phase of the menstrual cycle is being promoted online as a way to optimize personal exercise and lifestyle regimes. Saunders, a registered social worker, uses it to inform her choices around exercise, wellness and work by knowing the symptoms she's come to expect during her cycle. Whether that's scheduling in more rest during her luteal phase, or reducing her in-person workload when she knows her period is coming, it's become part of building her monthly routine. "In paying attention to that for myself, I noticed that it allowed me to plan my life a lot better," said Saunders. The menstrual cycle's effect on exercise is getting attention in the professional sports world, too. In April, soccer governing body FIFA announced funding for a new study that looks at the menstrual cycle and ACL injuries within women's football. A 2023 research review from the University of Vigo in Pontevedra, Spain, has found that a female athlete's hormonal changes could lead to potential injuries by altering biomechanics and movement patterns. The research also indicates that female athletes have a harder time balancing, or building and rebuilding muscle tissue, when hormones like estrogen and progesterone increase in the body. But clinicians say there isn't sufficient evidence to support blanket advice for cycle syncing, or phase-based training. They say getting to know your own menstrual cycle, and what you can expect from each phase, can have benefits, however. 'Bit of a trendy thing' As a former professional golfer, women's health researcher Kelly McNulty says that the "female factor" wasn't being considered in training. This was the start of an interest that continued into her research. With a PhD in female exercise physiology, and a range of research interests in optimizing female health and performance, the menstrual cycle is a topic McNulty knows well. Despite growing public interest in cycle syncing, she cautions against making major changes based on the practice. WATCH | How do menstrual cycles affect athletes: Are athletes' injuries connected to their menstrual cycle? 2 months ago Duration 1:25 "It is a bit of a trendy thing," said McNulty, a post-doctoral researcher at Northumbria University and Bangor University in the U.K. "There's no real blanket guideline for all women to say train this at X phase, or train this at Y phase." The individuality of every person's body and cycle makes broad recommendations difficult, and adding hormonal contraceptives into the mix makes things even more complicated to generalise, she explained. More research is underway Though McNulty's research found that performance was slightly reduced during the early follicular phase, she emphasized that certain types of training shouldn't be limited to specific times of the cycle. "We know that women and girls are chronically undertrained, particularly strength training," she said. McNulty says that strength training can be valuable at any stage of the cycle, and limiting yourself in the absence of effective data isn't necessary. Tracking can help identify clusters of symptoms that may be affecting exercise, but that it shouldn't rule your life. Tracking for roughly three cycles is a good start for noticing patterns, she said. "Gold medals are won at any phase of the menstrual cycle. So it's just remembering that as well, because some people might be affected and some people might not," she said. More research is underway, but results take time, she added. Figuring out your normal through tracking Physiotherapist Uma Ghosh says, despite the lack of evidence, there are pros to knowing your body better. "You can tune into how you feel, and adapt your workouts to however you feel," said Ghosh, who is also an adjunct lecturer at the University of Toronto, in an interview with Day 6. Ghosh emphasized that knowing how you feel at different phases in your cycle can help take some pressure off of expectations and performance for the average gym-goer. She says to "not be so hard on yourself." "The more you know, the better you can determine when things are not working well, or what you can present to your doctor if you have to go and see them," said Ghosh. WATCH | How does heat affect women's bodies? What do we know about how female bodies deal with heat? 9 months ago Duration 1:47 Are women affected differently by extreme heat? Could it even disrupt menstrual cycles? Dr. Brian Goldman, host of White Coat, Black Art, brings an ironworker apprentice to Brock University in St. Catharines, Ont., where researchers are exploring the impact of hot work environments on health. She recommends tracking everything — not just the first day of your bleed. "Document how you feel mood-wise, and your energy, and your sleep quality, and your bowel movements, your bladder health, your mental health," she said. "When something's not right, you pick it up super quick." Conversations about menstrual health continue Though cycle syncing's popularity might not be backed by science, it's an active conversation around menstrual health that McNulty says is far from over. "We don't want to stop people talking about it, but we also want to make sure people are getting the right information. It's getting that balance." Saunders has been candid about her menstrual phases online, sharing videos about her experience. She says the reaction has been positive. She says she's received direct messages from people that have started to take a closer look at their own cycles after seeing her content. The practice has also helped people understand the symptoms of their partners' cycles better too, Saunders added. "I think that that's just generally helpful not only for people's day-to-day lives, but understanding the people around them as well."
