Aston Villa 'prepared to sell' Celtic-linked attacker
The attacker was linked with a switch to Parkhead at the beginning of the year, although he ultimately penned a new deal at Villa before being sent out on loan to Hull City. Read more: He could be on the move once more this summer. Indeed, as they look to avoid falling foul of strict Premier League PSR rules, Villa are 'prepared to sell' Barry before next Monday, claims HullLive. News of his potential departure from Villa Park is said to have alerted numerous clubs from across the English Championship. In January, it was reported that Celtic were 'set' to lodge a seven-figure offer for Barry, yet nothing came to fruition. It remains to be seen whether they'll return to the table for the 22-year-old this summer. Barry scored 16 goals in 24 games in an impressive loan spell at Stockport County at the beginning of the year. In other news, Shaun Maloney has recently been appointed as Celtic's new Professional Player Pathway Manager, replacing Darren O'Dea. "It is a huge honour to be given this opportunity to return to Celtic," Maloney told after taking the role. "My aim will be to work really closely between our Academy and the First Team and create the very best opportunities for success, which will ultimately be represented by more and more players reaching our first team environment. "I have been fortunate enough to follow this same pathway, and I am now excited about ensuring many more young players can take this same journey."

Liverpool just one step away from Alexander Isak transfer
Liverpool are just one step away from making an Alexander Isak transfer happen. There's no question that Alexander Isak is the dream signing for Liverpool this summer. They've been eyeing him up all season and for good reason. Advertisement Liverpool need a striker, after all. They couldn't find any consistency in the position across Arne Slot's first campaign in charge, despite trying all sorts of things. And so they want to fix that. Darwin Nunez is fully expected to leave the club, with a new no.9 taking his place (and number). Isak is the standout candidate there. He's in his prime, completely comfortable in the Premier League and fits the bill as an out-and-out, up-there-on-his-own centre-forward. The mission to sign him is an incredibly difficult one, however. But it does appear that Liverpool are only one step from making it happen. The Alexander Isak transfer Three things need to happen to get a transfer done. Firstly, the player needs to want the move. Advertisement Now, that's apparently the case with Isak to Liverpool. The Daily Mail claimed this week that 'if he could join Liverpool, he would'. So there's the very, very important bit done with. Next, you need to be able to afford the player. Liverpool can certainly do that, with recent reports claiming the Reds have enough Premier League PSR room to spend another £200m. Then there's the last bit: convincing the player's current club to accept an offer. Liverpool have the first two steps in the bag but this one is proving difficult. Newcastle qualified for the UEFA Champions League, eliminating any desperation to sell this summer. At the same time, it does appear they could use a bit of help when it comes to getting deals done and a massive fee for Isak would certainly provide that. Advertisement That's their major decision to make, then, and Liverpool are simply waiting on it. The Reds have Isak's attention, they've got the money ready, now they just need Newcastle's approval. That might come. It also may never arrive and Liverpool won't want to wait too long before moving on - the worst-case scenario is waiting for Isak, failing to get him, and then finding that all alternatives are off the market. Similarly, Newcastle won't want to wait too long if they're going to give a 'yes'. They need time to actually spend any money they get for their star player, after all. Hopefully, then, we're not all waiting too much longer for an answer.

Liverpool getting closer to €70m deal
Liverpool are reportedly getting closer to a €70m transfer. The Reds have been working on it for a little while now. Liverpool have spent a lot of money already this summer. Florian Wirtz counts for the vast majority of that, of course. Advertisement The Reds have broken their transfer record to sign the German playmaker. £100m went to Bayer Leverkusen and with that, Liverpool secured one of the biggest talents in world football. But he's not the only deal. Jeremie Frimpong also arrived from Leverkusen for just shy of £30m. Milos Kerkez will join him for even more money - we're expecting a £40m deal to be announced any moment now. The crazy thing is that Liverpool have done all of this without major player sales. Their Premier League PSR spending room has been great enough that they haven't really had to. Though, the major sales are coming and the Reds appear to be closing in on a €70m deal. Liverpool to sell Darwin Nunez Gazzetta dello Sport claims Liverpool and Napoli are discussing Darwin Nunez. Now, they're far from the only outlet claiming that, of course. Advertisement The Italian champions are eager to sign Nunez, as reported by just about everyone right now. They hope to seal a deal for a player they believe can move them up another level. But there is a 'catch'. The Gazzetta report says Napoli have offered around €40m for Nunez, while Liverpool want close to €70m. That's an enormous price difference but the suggestion is that Napoli are considering a major offer. They're big fans of Nunez and really want this deal to happen. But they must get closer to that €70m - maybe even paying all of it - if they're to sign the Uruguayan. Napoli's consideration, though, suggests the chances of that are growing. It appears Liverpool are getting closer to their valuation. That would be a major deal and one that potentially funds further major transfers later in the window.

Chelsea hold Mohammed Kudus swap deal talks as separate winger bid considered
There have been loose discussions in the past few days between West Ham and Chelsea over Ghana international attacker Mohammed Kudus West Ham have rebuffed the chance to sign multiple Chelsea players as part of a potential swap deal for Mohammed Kudus. The 24-year-old Hammers attacker has three separate release clauses written into his current contract at the London Stadium but they're only active for the first 10 days of July. The buy-out clauses are set at £80million for European clubs, £85m for fellow Premier League sides and a whopping £120m for Saudi Pro League teams. Beyond that, West Ham are thought to be open to offers for the Ghana international, who is under contract until 2028 but the Irons do also have a 12-month extension option. In the past few days, Graham Potter's side are understood to have snubbed the chance to trade Kudus in a multi-player package deal with Chelsea. It's believed the West Ham hierarchy would, however, consider straight-cash proposals even though internally, Kudus is regarded as one of the club's best players. West Ham have previously held an interest in the likes of defender Trevoh Chalobah, Borussia Dortmund loanee Carney Chukwuemeka, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Armando Broja but on this occasion, they were reluctant to negotiate. Discussions did not go very far, though separate sources have claimed that Kudus has also been floated to other Premier League clubs in recent weeks. Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr have the player on their radar, though Liverpool's Luis Diaz is still considered their top target. West Ham are not under any immediate pressure to sell in relation to Premier League PSR rules but they're keen to raise funds through player sales to bolster Potter's summer transfer budget. Kudus, a £38m capture from Ajax in 2023, hit just five goals in 35 appearances in all competitions last season. Chelsea have historic interest and made contact with the Dutch giants to sign the versatile attacker in July 2023 before he eventually moved to east London. But at this stage, the Blues are thought to be prioritising the arrival of a right-footed left-winger after paying a £5m penalty fee to send Jadon Sancho back to Manchester United. Dortmund winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is a name of strong interest and Chelsea are ready to test the water with an opening bid, though they do not feel an agreement is essential before the Club World Cup. Chelsea have also considered moves for Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams and Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho, who is attracting interest from Bayer Leverkusen.
