Mancherial: Ministerfor Labour & Employment Gaddam Vivekanand distributed 423 sanction papers to beneficiaries of the Indiramma Housing scheme in Kotapalli mandal on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister emphasised that the government is committed to delivering effective public administration. The Indiramma Housing Scheme aims to provide homes to all eligible poor individuals. Those who own land and meet the eligibility criteria are being granted financial assistance under this scheme. Across the state, 450,000 houses are being sanctioned, with 3,500 houses allocated per constituency. In Chennur constituency alone, 12,000 applications have been received, and efforts are underway to ensure all eligible applicants receive his camp office in Chennu, he distributed land documents to 44 more beneficiaries. He reassured the public that all eligible individuals would receive homes and advised beneficiaries to construct houses only within the 600 sq. ft. limit as per government norms. He encouraged them to utilize the free sand provided and complete construction quickly. Funds will be deposited in phases—mark-out, basement, lintel, and slab stages. Measures are also being taken to ensure drinking water availability in Chennur constituency, including the installation of borewells in drought-prone areas, he added. As part of educational development, an integrated school has been established in Somanapalli of Chennur constituency, with teacher appointments made to ensure quality education with full roads and drainage canals have been constructed in every village of the constituency. Development works worth Rs 500 crore are underway in Chennur constituency. The Minister also inaugurated a solar RO water plant at the Primary Health Centre in Kotapalli, funded with Rs 5 lakh from SCCL's CSR funds. He participated in the Vanamahotsavam 2025 programme and planted saplings. The Minister urged officials to work in coordination to achieve the district's assigned targets. To address drinking water needs, the government is implementing pipeline installations, overhead tanks, and maintenance initiatives. The Minister also flagged off four newly sanctioned RTC buses for the Chennur region and encouraged women and locals to make full use of the facilities.

Two dead, 7 hospitalised in Ranchi; diarrhoea suspected
'Two women of the village died, but it is yet to be ascertained whether the cause of their death was diarrhoea or comorbidity as they were elderly women,' Bundu BDO Savitri Kumari told PTI. Around 12 people fell ill due to suspected diarrhoea at Domudih village under Tamar block on Saturday, he said. Ranchi, Jun 23 (PTI) Two persons died while seven others were admitted to a hospital with diarrhoea-like symptoms in a village in Jharkhand's Ranchi district, an official said on Monday. Ranchi civil surgeon Prabhat Kumar visited the village on Monday. 'Seven persons were admitted to the Primary Health Centre in Tamar and their conditions are stable,' he said. A team from the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) will be sent to the village on Tuesday to ascertain whether it is a case of diarrhoea or food positioning, Kumar said. Two suspected Malaria cases in Gurugram
Gurugram has reported its first two malaria cases this year. The patients are currently stable and under the health department's supervision, according to the district health department's latest bulletin. Malaria, which had almost disappeared from the city, saw a resurgence with two cases in 2024. The detection of two cases this year has prompted the department to stay on high alert, said officials. 'A private laboratory confirmed the malaria cases using a rapid diagnostic kit. While we consider this result credible, the most reliable method for confirmation is the Peripheral Blood Smear (PBS) test, which provides 100% accuracy. We will be using this test for final confirmation. Additionally, we have collected blood samples from the infected's family members to ensure the disease does not spread further,' said Dr Vikas Swami, deputy civil surgeon, Gurugram. To prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases like malaria, dengue, and chikungunya, the health department has intensified field activity across the district. This year, over one lakh people have been tested for malaria so far. Meanwhile, 923 blood samples have been collected for dengue testing. On Wednesday, rapid response teams inspected 7,273 houses, out of which 117 were found to have larvae, said health officials. Dengue cases in Gurugram have shown a fluctuating trend over the past three years. In 2024, the city reported 186 cases, a drop from 276 in 2023. The highest count in recent years was in 2022, with 440 cases. Health officials continue to stress the importance of mosquito control and early detection. All Community Health Centre (CHC), Primary Health Centre (PHC) workers, and multipurpose health workers (MPHWs) have been deployed for door-to-door surveillance. Separate teams have also been formed to carry out malaria and dengue inspections, said health officials. 'With the change in weather, we are seeing a rise in fever cases. We are conducting daily anti-larvae drives and involving community groups to keep mosquito breeding in check,' said Dr Swami further adding that NGOs have been issued government-approved malaria ID cards so they can visit residential areas and inspect water bodies freely. Health officials are actively promoting the 'Dry Day' concept across Gurugram where residents are urged to empty water coolers once a week and keep them dry for a day to disrupt the mosquito breeding cycle. 'Mosquito larvae can hatch within seven days in stagnant water, which increases the risk of dengue and chikungunya. We're involving Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) to help implement Dry Day activities in colonies and societies,' said Dr Swami. Fogging drives are being carried out by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG). People are also being advised to regularly change stored water, clean their terraces, and apply mosquito-repellent cream to children before they go outside. As part of vector control, the department has identified 204 water bodies in Gurugram — 160 in rural areas and 44 in urban zones. Gambusia fish, known for feeding on mosquito larvae, have been released into these water bodies to help curb the mosquito population naturally, said health officials.

Weekly Health Check-Up Camp Launched for Municipal Staff Under Telangana's 100-Day Action Plan
Gadwal: As part of the Telangana State Government's prestigious 100-Day Action Plan, a health check-up camp was organized at the Aija Municipal Office in Jogulamba Gadwal district. This initiative was spearheaded by Municipal Commissioner CH Saidulu, in coordination with Medical Officer Dr. Kiran Kumar. Addressing the occasion, Commissioner Mr. Saidulu emphasized that the Telangana government is implementing the 100-Day Plan with a strong focus on welfare and health across departments. He announced that every Friday, a health camp will be conducted within the municipal office premises, exclusively for sanitation workers, water supply staff, electrical department employees, revenue staff, and other municipal officers. The camp includes basic health screenings such as blood pressure (BP) and blood sugar (diabetes) tests. The Commissioner also mentioned that those already diagnosed with conditions such as hypertension or diabetes will be provided with necessary medications, and if required, will be referred to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) for further lab testing and consultation. The event witnessed active participation from key personnel, including: Lakshanna, Senior Municipal Assistant, Vijay, Junior Assistant, Srinivasulu, Supervisor from, the Primary Health Centre, Obulesh, PHC staff, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) Other municipal officers and staff members. This initiative is seen as a step toward promoting the health and well-being of municipal workers who are the backbone of public service delivery. The weekly check-ups are expected to help in early detection of health issues and ensure timely medical intervention, thus enhancing the overall productivity and welfare of the staff.

Coimbatore man gets double life term, 16 years of RI for raping elderly Dalit woman in 2022
The Special Court for the trial of cases registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in Coimbatore on Tuesday awarded 16 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and double life imprisonment to a 42-year-old man from Kinathukadavu in the district for raping an elderly Dalit woman in 2022. Judge K. Vivekananthan awarded the punishment to M. Velusamy, a daily wage labourer from a village near Kinathukadavu. Velusamy, who belongs to a dominant caste, was arrested for raping a 65-year-old Dalit woman from the village on June 26, 2022. He committed the crime when the woman went out in search of fodder for goats. As per the First Information Report (FIR), Velusamy also assaulted the woman when she resisted the rape attempt. While Velusamy escaped after the crime, the woman managed to walk to the nearest bus stop, where she fainted. After identifying the woman in unconscious state, a villager informed her grandson, who rushed her to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Kinathukadavu. Sensing the gravity of the crime and the health condition of the woman, the PHC authorities referred her to the District Headquarters Hospital in Pollachi. S. Amutha, the then inspector of the All Women Police Station (AWPS), Perur, reached the hospital after being alerted about the crime and recorded the woman's statement. The court found Velusamy guilty and awarded him seven years of rigorous imprisonment for offence under Section 325 (punishment for voluntarily causing grievous hurt) of the Indian Penal Code. He was awarded another seven years of RI for offences under Section 325 IPC read with 3 (2) (Va) of SC/ST) of SC/ST Act. He was sentenced to undergo two years of RI for 506 (i) (criminal intimidation). The court awarded life imprisonment to the accused for offence under Section 376 (1) of IPC and another life term for offence under Section 376 (1) read with 3(2) (v) of SC/ST Act. The convict was ordered to undergo the two life terms concurrently, after undergoing the 16 years of rigorous imprisonment for other offences consecutively. He was slapped with a total fine of ₹32,000.
