Kuwait Cricket goes global – invited to the prestigious Hong Kong Sixes 2025
KUWAIT CITY, June 12: The Kuwait Cricket Board is proud to announce that the Kuwait National Men's Cricket Team has been officially invited to participate in the world-renowned Hong Kong Sixes 2025 — also known globally as the Hong Kong Super Sixes. This thrilling and fast-paced international tournament will take place from 31st October to 2nd November 2025 in Hong Kong. With Kuwait currently ranked 23rd in the ICC Men's T20I Rankings, this invitation is a huge endorsement of the nation's rapid rise and performance on the international cricketing stage. The Hong Kong Sixes — which made a spectacular return in 2024 — is one of the most entertaining formats in cricket, featuring a six-a-side structure that was a forerunner to modern T20 and T10 cricket. Known for its high-octane action, global appeal, and elite competition, the 2025 edition will feature full-member nations alongside top-performing associate countries, and Kuwait is proudly among them. This invitation comes on the back of Kuwait's stellar performances in recent years: Qualified for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers – a key step toward the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India & Sri Lanka. Runners-up in the ILT20 Gulf Cup 2024, after a thrilling final vs UAE. T20I Champions of the Hong Kong Men's Series, defeating Nepal in a statement victory. KCC President Mr. Haider Farman thanked the Hong Kong Cricket Board for recognizing Kuwait's consistent progress and providing a platform alongside full-member teams, stating, 'Being part of an iconic global tournament like the Hong Kong Sixes puts Kuwait on the world map. Two men tortured over water dispute
In the 12 Gijani area of Chishtian, two brothers were tied to a tree and brutally tortured by a group of influential individuals over a water dispute. The video of the assault was filmed by the perpetrators themselves and later went viral on social media. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Saddar Police Station. The victims, identified as brothers Amir Hamza and another unnamed sibling, had gone to inspect their agricultural land when they discovered that their water channel had been damaged. Upon confronting the suspects present on the land, including Qasim Ali and Manzoor Ahmed, an altercation ensued. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the accused responded aggressively, hurling abuses and launching a physical assault. Other individuals, allegedly armed with sticks, soon joined in. One assailant reportedly used the back of an axe to strike the victims. The situation escalated when the attackers tied both brothers to trees and continued to beat them mercilessly.
