Ozark fans urged to watch 'addictive' Netflix drama that's 'even better'
Fans who are missing the Byrdes three years after the series finale of Ozark should check out this equally gripping crime drama Ozark fans should look no further than this rival cartel drama which also happens to be streaming on Netflix. Starring Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, the hit thriller series follows a family who's forced to relocate to the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri and launder money for the Mexican cartel. They soon become entangled with other local crime families, including small-time criminal Ruth Langmore (played by Julia Garner), while trying to keep their own safe. Receiving critical acclaim and devoured by legions of fans around the globe, Ozark is sorely missed by viewers after it came to an end in 2022. However, if you've already watched - and rewatched - all four seasons of the hit Netflix drama, this similar crime thriller on the platform is just as deserving of your attention. Originally broadcast on USA Network, the popular drama Queen of the South follows the comparable narrative about a poor woman named Teresa Mendoza (Alice Braga) who falls in love with a cartel member. When she discovers he's been murdered she's forced to flee Mexico and cross the border into the United States, where she eventually sets up her own drug trade, with herself at the top. Unfortunately, success always comes at a cost. Fans have been raving about the series, which actually began a year before Ozark, airing from 2016-2021. All five seasons are currently on Netflix in the UK. The series has received an overwhelming majority of five-star reviews from Google users, including from one fan who says: 'This was a hit for me because it keeps you on your toes and always wondering what will happen next. 'With its twists and turns, backstabbing, scheming and a whole lot of action. Thumbs Up!! Love this drama thriller!!' Another agreed: 'It was an extremely addictive series to watch. Lots of action. Kept me wanting to watch more and more.' Someone else raved: 'This show is a masterpiece and it deserves recognition. 'I started watching it 3 weeks ago and it has been a thrill. It's action packed. The cast? Amazing!!!!' Watch Stranger Things on Netflix for free with Sky This article contains affiliate links, we will receive a commission on any sales we generate from it. 'Every single episode is season finale-worthy. Not a dull moment at all. 'I used to think nothing would ever top Breaking Bad but Queen of the South blows it out of the water, and with a few of the same actors…' Screen Rant has also recommended the series, specifically claiming Queen of the South is arguably superior to Ozark. 'The Show Is Better-Paced & More Action-Packed,' they argued. 'Ozark can initially be a little hard to get into. Queen of the South, in contrast, is action-packed and quick-paced from the very beginning. 'In terms of overall critical ratings, Ozark still seems to rank above Queen of the South. However, viewers fascinated with shows like Ozark and Breaking Bad should certainly give Queen of the South a shot.' Although Ozark may have a better reputation, Queen of the South is certainly an underrated gem that deserves to be sought out by fans of the crime drama genre who are hungry for more. Queen of the South is available to stream on Netflix.

Ross County test for Edinburgh City
Edinburgh City make the long trip to Dingwall on Tuesday (19.45pm) as they continue their journey in the Premier Sports Cup. It will be a huge test against Ross County who were relegated from the William Hill Premiership last season, sensationally losing out to fired-up Livingston in the play-off final with the decisive, second-leg, in Dingwall. The Staggies obviously seek an instant return to the top league and the match at the Global Energy Stadium is another step on that road. County come into the game after busy week which has seen them travel over 1,000 miles with trips to Stranraer and then Dumfries to face Queen of the South. They can't wait to have a home game and manager Don Cowie, who once played for Hearts, said post-match at Dumfries that it was a really hard-fought victory. He praised Queen of the South for their performance but added that he noted moments of quality in the first half from his men, but the ball just did not drop for the visitors. The manager felt his men improved in the second-half and he said they then took control of the game. A 'real moment of quality', he said, put The Staggies ahead and then it was about making sure County came away with a win which improved their position in the section. He added: 'I was delighted with the clean sheet and the three points.' Cowie will look for a further three points in Group B against the Citizens. The Staggies record so far? County drew 1-1 at Stranraer in their opener and edged Queen of the South 1-0 with midfielder Jay Henderson netting after 73 minutes. Partick Thistle, who beat City 4-1 at Meadowbank in their opener, currently top the section with six points with County tucked in behind on four. Queen of the South sit in third with three points, all having played two matches. Stranraer are fourth also on three points but they have played three games, the same number as City who prop up the table with two points, but fans must have been were encouraged by a 5-3 shootout success over Stranraer at Meadowbank Stadium on Saturday after the sides were deadlocked at 0-0 at full-time. Manager Michael McIndoe will also be pleased that City had 62 per cent of possession against Stranraer against 38 per cent and he was really encouraged by the showing of his younger players, one of whom, Aidan Burgess, netted the winning penalty. Clubs across the country are doing deals and the Jambos have been one of the most active. Signings like Claudio Braga have already hit the ground running in the club's Premier Sports Cup group stage campaign and more arrivals are set to be unveiled before the end of the window. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Former players are also on the move and one of them is Harry Cochrane. The midfielder came through the ranks at Hearts and after leaving Queen of the South at the end of last season, he has signed a one-year deal with Arbroath. Under co-manager David Gold and Colin Hamilton, the Gayfield side earned promotion to the second tier ahead of this campaign. Harry Cochrane signs for Arbroath A statement reads: 'Welcome Harry! Arbroath FC is delighted to announce the signing of Harry Cochrane on a one-year deal, subject to SFA approval. The 24-year-old central midfielder joins the club following his departure from Queen of the South, and will be part of the squad for the upcoming 2025/26 season. 'Cochrane began his senior career with Heart of Midlothian and has gone on to represent clubs including Dunfermline Athletic and Queen of the South, gaining regular experience in Premiership, Championship and League One. Welcome to Gayfield Harry!' The co managers of Arbroath said of the ex Jambo: 'Harry's a young player, but he's played a lot of games at high levels, and we feel that he can be a good fit for how we want to play. It's a fresh opportunity for him, and we're happy to have him in the door.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Harry Cochrane on time at Hearts Now 24, Cochrane is a product of the Hearts youth system. He is famed for scoring the opening goal in Hearts' 4–0 win over Celtic on 17 December 2017,[13] a result that ended Celtic's 69-game unbeaten run in domestic matches.[14] In doing so he became the club's youngest league goalscorer, having became the first SFA Performance School graduate to start a Scottish Premiership game when debuting vs Dundee earlier that campaign. In total he made 33 Hearts appearances before leaving for Queen of the South in 2021. Speaking in 2023 of adapting to life after Hearts in the lower leagues, Cochrane said: 'It is different, a bit more physical games than technical. I've been trying to improve that side of my game. Hopefully I can work my way back up because everybody wants to play at the top level. I just sort of see it as a stepping stone. 'You are playing on astroturf most weeks, and probably not the best astros. You are training on astro every day and there is that physical side. I'm not saying it wasn't physical at the top level with Hearts, but probably the lower down you go, the less time you get on the ball. Since I left Hearts, I think I've put on about seven kilograms. I don't know if that's just me growing, or if it's my eating or doing the gym a bit more. I feel I've put on a wee bit of muscle and you need that in football now. A lot of it is physical and I'm not the quickest, as you know, so I need to try and build my game up in other ways.'

Partick Thistle say trial to sell alcohol at Firhill 'went well'
The Maryhill side faced Stranraer in a League Cup game on Tuesday night, coming out on top with a 2-0 win in the group stages. The Jags were one of several clubs taking part in an initiative to sell alcoholic drinks outside hospitality areas in football stadiums for the first time in more than four decades, STV reports. A blanket ban was brought into force in 1981 following crowd trouble after a Scottish Cup final. It has been in place ever since. Now, seven Scottish clubs have been granted permission to sell beer, lager, and wine to those with general match tickets. READ NEXT: Glasgow football club fans to be allowed alcohol at games The initiative aims to show that relaxing the long-standing ban can 'enhance the fan experience'. Thistle say there were 'no issues' with behaviour and they are looking forward to next week's match against Queen of the South. A Partick Thistle spokesperson commented: 'It was great for the club to be involved in the trial. "Operationally, everything went well, and the fans who attended all enjoyed themselves. 'There were no issues with behaviour, and we believe that it added to the experience of what was a good night when you consider the result as well. 'We look forward to the second part of the trial when Queen of the South visit The Wyre Stadium at Firhill next Tuesday.' The news comes as Ayr United announced they have withdrawn their application to take part in the initiative. READ NEXT: Hit musical about Celtic FC is coming back to Glasgow The Championship club had been due to provide alcohol to a small number of match-going supporters at their upcoming games against Arbroath and Forfar. However, they have since stated they will no longer be participating in the initiative. A statement posted to Ayr United's X [formerly known as Twitter] page reads: 'We can advise supporters that it has withdrawn applications for temporary alcohol licenses for the matches against Arbroath and Forfar following further discussions with local stakeholders. 'The club would like to thank the South Ayrshire licensing board, LSO and Building Standards for their support throughout the process and can confirm it will seek to apply for future licences as part of the ongoing pilot process. 'Supporters who have bought tickets for the events will be contacted directly regarding next steps.'
