Rivian Offers Massive Lease Discount, Making The R1S More Affordable

The R1S SUV is now the Irvine, Calif.-based EV manufacturer's best selling model. It's outselling the R1T pickup by about 2 to 1, according to Cox Automotive's Electric Vehicle Sales Report Q1 2025. And Rivian is now promoting the 2025 Dual Motor Rivian R1 vehicle with the tagline 'your down payment's on us, so you can start exploring.' 'Rivian will contribute $6,500 toward each lease of a new 2025 Dual Motor Rivian R1 vehicle with Max battery and Performance Upgrade ordered through R1 Shop between May 1, 2025 and May 31, 2025,' according to the Rivian website. Other vehicle configurations are excluded, Rivan says. Here's what makes the deal potentially very sweet. The $6,500 lease offer 'may be combined with the $7,500 EV Lease Credit,' according to Rivian. That would add up to a tidy $14,000 discount. I confirmed this lease pricing with a Rivian salesperson. Note that Rivians won't always be out of the reach for more price sensitive buyers. The upcoming Rivian R2 SUV is expected to have a starting price of approximately $45,000 before taxes and fees. That is due in 2026.

Rivian has taken the EV SUV and Truck segments by storm with ultra-modern and head-turning style, impressive range, real utility, and serious performance in its R1S and R1T vehicles. Getting into a premium EV just got easier with the announcement of Rivian's 'Nothing But Adventure' lease offers. Zero down payment should get your attention, especially for a premium EV. Both vehicles are tremendously powerful, quick, and capable. The R1T's standard Dual-Motor delivers 553 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque, while the Performance Dual-Motor ramps those numbers up to 665 hp and 829 lb-ft. In terms of people-hauling, the R1T has room for five, and the R1S can house up to seven passengers. Both models have a huge, horizontally mounted 15.6-inch infotainment system running navigation, media, and climate controls. Rivian does not provide Apple CarPlay or Android Auto on its OS. The infotainment screen is paired with a 12-inch instrument screen that throws up vital data like speed, range, battery consumption, energy efficiency, navigation directions, and cruise control settings. Even with minimal physical controls, Rivian's in-car tech runs smoothly and has an easy learning curve. U.S. customers can take advantage of the deals on the R1S (SUV) or R1T (pickup truck) Dual Max with Performance Upgrade by ordering from the R1 Shop with zero money down. Rivian will cover the $6,500 down payment. If you lease any R1 Dual with Max battery and Performance, there's an additional $7,500 via the EV lease credit that will be applied directly to the lease, and that sweetens the deal even more. Monthly lease prices start at $779/month for the R1T and $809/month for the R1S. With up to 410 miles of all-electric range on the R1S and 420 miles on the R1T, there's no worries about range anxiety, on top of not having to part with thousands when signing the lease deal. Customers must take advantage of this lease deal between May 1, 2025 and May 31, 2025, and they must take delivery on or before May 31, 2025 If you're not a first-time EV buyer and you have an EV to trade in for a new Rivian lease, you can choose a different R1 configuration and trade your old one in to get $10,500 in leasing offers.
