Another Ford Recall: Fuel Pump Defect Affects 850,000 Vehicles

Ford Motor Company F has announced its 89th recall this year due to issues in its low-pressure fuel pump. According to the report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, affected models are prone to a lack of fuel delivery and subsequent engine stall as a result of low-pressure fuel pump failure. The recall will affect 850,318 Ford and Lincoln models made between 2021 and 2023. These include the 2021-2023 Bronco, Explorer, F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550, as well as the 2021-2022 Mustang and the 2022 Expedition. Ford's luxury models, the 2021-2023 Lincoln Aviator and the 2021-2022 Lincoln Navigator, may also be part of the recall. Although the company anticipates only 10% of its recalled models to have faulty pumps, all models have to be recalled to identify the ones with the issue. As for the owners of the affected model, the company will be notifying them about the defects and later, when solutions arrive. Meanwhile, the company has warned owners of signs that might be visible prior to a possible pump failure. Signs can include a check engine light or a decrease in engine power. Failures are more likely to occur at high temperatures or if there is low fuel in the tank. Including the 89th recall, Ford estimates that over 5 million vehicles were affected by recalls in 2025. This is the second-largest recall this year, following the recall of potentially 1.1 million vehicles across 17 models due to rearview camera malfunctions. Shares of Ford have slumped 8.5% over the past year compared with the industry's 7.1% decline. Image Source: Zacks Investment Research F currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). She recently took a trip down memory lane and shared a nostalgic video of her younger self getting an autograph from Katrina Kaif at the premiere of Race (2008). Posting the clip on Instagram, Zareen wrote, 'Oh my Goddd! Came across this video and the memory is still so fresh. I clearly remember this moment... it's from the premiere of the movie RACE. Ferrari unveils new 'Amalfi' petrol coupe ahead of EV launch

MILAN, July 1 (Reuters) - Ferrari ( opens new tab revealed its new Amalfi coupe on Tuesday as the luxury sportscar maker mixes petrol and hybrid models in its range while preparing for the launch of its first fully electric vehicle. The eight-cylinder, 3.85-litre Amalfi replaces and upgrades the successful 2019 Roma in the entry segment of Ferrari's range and comes just two months after the launch of the 296 Speciale hybrid car and its convertible version. Ferrari will begin unveiling its first EV in October this year in a three-stage process culminating in a world premiere next spring. However, a second EV model that would aim for wider sales is not expected before 2028, because of a substantial lack of demand for high-performance luxury EVs, sources have told Reuters. The Amalfi has similar dimensions to the Roma, differing in its exterior look from its predecessor mainly for its redesigned front. Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer Enrico Galliera said the Amalfi was a true Ferrari sportscar in terms of high performance, technology and driving pleasure, but it also had a "very elegant soul". "It allows for a different driving experience, less extreme but equally fun, it's suitable for a wide range of driving conditions," he said. The Amalfi is purely powered by an internal combustion engine which delivers 640 horsepower for a top speed of 320 kilometres per hour. It features a rear integrated active spoiler, contributing to the car's stability at high speed, the company said. Like the Roma, the Amalfi is a 2+ coupe, meaning it has two small rear seats. The starting price for the new model is set at 240,000 euros ($281,000), with first deliveries to clients scheduled in the first quarter of next year, starting from Europe. Deliveries to U.S. clients are expected to start three to six months later, at a higher price due to import tariffs. Orders for the Amalfi are being opened on Tuesday but Ferrari's dealers already received lots of expressions of interest from clients, Galliera said. The Roma coupe has gone out of production, while its retractable-top version, that was introduced in 2023, currently remains in Ferrari's range. ($1 = 0.8527 euros)

Rivian Lays Off 140 Workers to Boost R2 SUV Production Efficiency

Rivian Automotive, Inc. RIVN has laid off approximately 140 employees or about 1% of its workforce, as it gears up for the 2026 launch of its more affordable R2 SUV, per TechCrunch. The majority of the job cuts affected the manufacturing division. According to former employees, some roles were cut due to process inefficiencies. Per a Rivian spokesperson, the layoffs involve a small number of salaried manufacturing staff and are part of efforts to enhance operational efficiency ahead of the R2 rollout. Affected employees are being encouraged to apply for other positions within the R2 will be the fourth vehicle produced at Rivian's Normal, IL facility, following the R1S, R1T and its commercial van. To prepare for R2 production, the factory will temporarily shut down later this year. The necessary equipment has already arrived and will be installed with minimal impact on the R1S and R1T lines, which will share some infrastructure with the R2 line. Per its SEC filing, as of early 2025, Rivian had more than 14,800 employees across North America and Europe. The company has implemented several rounds of layoffs in recent years, including a 10% reduction in early 2024 and another 1% cut in aims to broaden its reach with the upcoming R2 and R3 models, targeting more budget-conscious consumers. The R2, a midsize SUV, is slated for launch in the first half of 2026 with a starting price around $45,000, significantly lower than the premium R1 lineup. Rivian views the R2 as a key growth driver, citing major cost efficiencies in both materials and manufacturing. The company anticipates the R2's launch will accelerate its path to profitability and help reduce fixed costs per unit across all vehicles produced at its Normal, IL, plant due to higher production automaker's cash balance declined to $4.7 billion at the end of the first quarter of 2025, down from $5.3 billion in 2024, as the company continues to burn cash while pursuing long-term growth. Adjusted EBITDA losses were $329 million in the last reported quarter, due to R2 development, tech investments and expanding operations.
