PM Anwar's economic initiatives reflect strong fundamentals, says Hajiji
KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government has praised Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's recent economic initiatives, calling them a clear sign of Malaysia's strong economic fundamentals under the MADANI Government. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the measures, designed to ease the rising cost of living, demonstrate the federal government's commitment to public welfare. 'This reflects the Prime Minister's genuine concern for the people's well-being,' Hajiji said in a statement. He highlighted the one-off RM100 aid for Malaysians aged 18 and above, redeemable at 4,100 retail outlets, as well as the expansion of Rahmah MADANI Sales to every state constituency. The reduction of RON95 petrol prices to RM1.99 per litre under the targeted subsidy scheme was another key move, expected to benefit over 18 million Malaysians. 'This has truly fulfilled the people's aspirations,' Hajiji added. The additional public holiday on Sept 15 for Malaysia Day was also welcomed as a recognition of the occasion's national significance. In Sarawak, Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg expressed gratitude for the federal aid, noting that combined state and federal assistance would further ease public burdens. 'The people of Sarawak will receive help from both Kuala Lumpur and the state government,' he said in Bintulu. Earlier, Anwar announced multiple initiatives, including toll hike deferrals and subsidised fuel, as part of the government's appreciation for public support. – Bernama

PM's cost-of-living relief measures show MADANI govt resolve
KUALA LUMPUR: The Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (ABIM) has lauded Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's latest cost-of-living relief measures, calling them a clear sign of the MADANI Government's determination to resist political pressures while prioritising national stability. ABIM president Ahmad Fahmi Mohd Samsudin expressed confidence that the initiatives, including a one-off RM100 cash payment for adults, reduced RON95 petrol prices to RM1.99 per litre, and expanded Rahmah MADANI Sales allocations, would provide immediate relief to low and middle-income groups. 'These measures reflect the government's responsiveness to the people's struggles amid rising living costs,' he said in a statement. However, he stressed that their success hinges on 'integrity, efficient governance, and genuine concern for those in need.' Ahmad Fahmi also highlighted the importance of the upcoming 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) in ensuring long-term impact. 'The Malaysia MADANI agenda requires strong political will, civil society engagement, and public support to succeed,' he added. Transparency in implementation was another key point raised by ABIM. The group pledged to remain a strategic partner in advocating for reforms aligned with social justice and good governance. Separately, the Anwar Ibrahim Club (AIC) welcomed the announcements as proof of the government's dedication to public welfare. 'These initiatives show that the people's needs remain central to national planning,' it said, urging continued public support for reforms. – Bernama

RM100 Sara Aid Via MyKad Ensures Transparency, Maximum Benefits
KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 (Bernama) -- The one-off RM100 cash assistance to be disbursed to all Malaysian adults through MyKad under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme is a targeted approach that ensures transparency so that the aid reaches the people directly, said Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching. She said the mechanism allows every Malaysian aged 18 and above to use the assistance to purchase essential items while preventing unnecessary or harmful spending. 'I believe SARA has clear benefits as it can be used specifically for purchasing basic necessities, and not for buying cigarettes, alcohol, or other non-essential items. 'So with the aid channelled through MyKad, I think this initiative can truly benefit all Malaysians aged 18 and above,' she said in a phone interview with Bernama Radio today. Teo said this in response to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's special announcement on the initiative in conjunction with the National Day 2025, which involves an allocation of RM2 billion and will benefit over 22 million of the country's population. Meanwhile, Teo also welcomed the doubling of the Rahmah MADANI Sales programme allocation from RM300 million to RM600 million this year, which she said would allow more people, especially those in the B40 group, to access essential goods at lower prices. 'Prices at Rahmah MADANI Sales are incredibly affordable. For instance, I recently visited one in my area last weekend, and a pack of instant noodles was sold at RM3.70, while in regular supermarkets it's at least RM4 or more, sometimes even reaching RM5. 'We also saw eggs and many other necessities being sold at very low prices. So I believe this expansion will greatly benefit more communities, especially in the B40 group,' she said. Teo also lauded the government's plan to set the price of RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre through a fuel subsidy targeting mechanism.

RM100 cash aid and Rahmah sales boost ease cost of living
Malaysian Islamic Chamber of Commerce (DPIM) president Datuk Mohammad Sahar Mat Din - BERNAMAPIX PUTRAJAYA: The one-off RM100 cash assistance for every Malaysian aged 18 and above, along with the increased allocation for the Rahmah MADANI Sales, has been described as a timely and appropriate move to help the people cope with the rising cost of living. Malaysian Islamic Chamber of Commerce (DPIM) president Datuk Mohammad Sahar Mat Din said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's announcement reflects the government's targeted and comprehensive approach to addressing long-standing issues faced by the people. 'Overall, it is a very appropriate and timely move, especially the RM100 initiative under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) or basic Rahmah contribution initiative and the increased allocation for the Rahmah MADANI Sales,' he told Bernama. Meanwhile, the chairperson of the Bandar Tun Razak Single Mothers Association, Zaini Zakaria, described the RM100 assistance as proof of the government's concern for the low-income group and expressed support for the continuation of the initiative. However, the 66-year-old Zaini hopes the government will consider expanding the scope of purchases under SARA to include wet goods such as chicken, fish, and vegetables, which are also essential daily necessities. 'If we can buy wet goods, that would be good too. Sometimes the biggest kitchen expenses come from fresh produce, not just dry goods,' she said. Personal driver Nor Azreen Nabila Mohd Maliki, 30, also welcomed the government's decision to maintain toll rates and fuel prices, saying it provides much-needed relief for those who commute daily to work. Nor Azreen Nabila said fuel and toll costs are among her most burdensome fixed expenses. 'I really appreciate the government's move to postpone toll hikes and maintain fuel prices. My daily commute is long, so any savings on these costs really help,' she said. For Lee Wei Choon, 48, an engineer at a private company, the SARA assistance reflects the Malaysia MADANI concept, which emphasises unity among people of various races and religions. 'I feel touched because this is the first time we, the M40 group, have received direct benefits from the government. All this while, we felt that we were only taxpayers, but this time, in the spirit of National Day, I feel fortunate to be Malaysian. 'Moreover, I have many options of supermarkets and locations to use this assistance. The initiative announced by the Prime Minister will not only ease the cost of living but also make it easier for us to benefit from it,' said the father of two girls. The Prime Minister, in his announcement today, said the RM100 would be channelled via MyKad under the SARA programme, benefiting 22 million adult citizens with a total allocation of RM2 billion. He said the aid, in conjunction with National Day on Aug 31, is an immediate measure to ease the people's cost-of-living burden while appreciating their contributions to the country. At the same time, the allocation for the Rahmah MADANI Sales has been doubled to RM600 million this year, compared with RM300 million previously. - Bernama
