Majhi announces Rs 10 Lakh ex-gratia for families of Odia workers killed in fire in Sigachi Pharma company

Bhubaneswar, July 4 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today announced an ex-gratia of Rs10 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for each of the families of Odia workers killed in the fire incident at Sigachi Pharma Company in Sangareddy district of Telangana on July 1. According to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), eight workers were killed in the tragic fire. The deceased have been identified as Rajnala Jagan Mohan, Lagnajit Duari, Manoj Rout, Daogobinda Sahu, Chaitu Batra, Ramesh Giud, and Sidharth Gouda. The Odisha government has deputed two officers to Telangana to assist and support the affected families. Dr. Chandra Shekhar Hota and Pritish Kumar Panda have already reached the site and are coordinating with the Sangareddy district administration to extend all possible help the the Odia workers. The officials had visited the injured workers in the hospital and are providing all necessary support, including ensuring appropriate medical treatment. Meanwhile, the Directorate of Odisha Family Affairs has made arrangements to repatriate the bodies of the deceased to Odisha and is coordinating all necessary assistance for their bereaved families, official sources said. Telangana factory blast: Two more Odia workers dead, five missing

The death toll of Odia labourers in the explosion at Sigachi pharmaceutical factory in the Pashamylaram industrial area in Sangareddy district of Telangana climbed to four on Wednesday. Five more workers from Odisha who were present in the factory at the time of the incident are missing. While bodies of Rajnala Jagan Mohan of Chatrapur in Ganjam and Lagnajeeth Duari of Tigiria in Cuttack were identified on Tuesday, two more Odia labourers who died in the blast are Manoj Rout from Balasore and Dolagovinda Sahu of Jajpur. Mortal remains of the duo have been sent to their native places by the two Odisha Parivaar officials present in the neighbouring state. The injured - Sameer Padhi of Ganjam, Chandan Kumar Naik of Bhadrak, and Neelambar Batra and Chitrasen Batra of Nabarangpur - are under treatment at Pranaam and Druva hospitals in Telangana. Condition of Sameer continues to be serious, sources said. Officer on special duty in the directorate of Odisha Parivaar, Pritish Panda said five more Odia workers are missing. They are Chaita Bhadra and Ramesh Gauda, both of Nabarangpur, Prasant Mohapatra of Ganjam, and Siddharth Gouda and Purna Chandra Sahu of Sukarpada in Cuttack district. He informed that family members of four of the missing workers have already submitted their samples for DNA identification and one more family will reach Sangareddy on Thursday to give their sample. 'We met Sangareddy collector P Pravinya today and as per their reports, there were around 143 workers during the time of the blast. So far, we have the confirmed list of four deaths and as many injured persons from Odisha. Five more workers who were present in the factory on the fateful day are missing,' Panda informed. On the other hand, families of the missing workers have been doing rounds of the factory site, hospitals and mortuary. One among them is Sonali, wife of Prashant Mohapatra. She along with her three children have been approaching the police and factory officials to know his whereabouts but in vain. Her 13-year-old son gave his blood sample for DNA identification on the day but there is no confirmation yet.

Bhubaneswar/Kendrapada/Berhampur: Four workers from Odisha were among the 38 killed in Monday's explosion at the pharmaceutical unit of Sigachi Industries in Telangana, while five others from the state are still missing, raising fears of a higher death toll. The deceased were identified as Rajnala Jagan Mohan (55) from Ganjam, Lagnajeet Duari from Cuttack, Manoj Rout from Balasore and Dolagobinda Sahu from Jajpur. "Efforts are on to locate the missing workers as rescue operations continue for those who may have been trapped in the rubble of the collapsed building," said Pritish Panda, officer on special duty with directorate of Odisha Parivaar, who was sent to the site by the state govt. The missing workers are Chaita Bhadra and Ramesh Gauda from Nabarangpur, Prasant Mohapatra from Ganjam, Purna Chandra Sahu from Cuttack, and another Siddharth Gouda whose native place is yet to be confirmed. In Ganjam's Chhatrapur, the family of Rajnala received his body on Wednesday. "We found only his charred body when we rushed to the plant," said R Sai Yashwanth, the deceased's elder son. Dolagobinda from Jajpur's Erabanka village had worked as a fitter at the unit for four years. "We managed to identify his mangled body and transported it back to our village via ambulance," said his father, Harihar Sahu, adding that the Telangana govet provided Rs 1 lakh as compensation. "We want punishment for the chemical factory owner who is responsible for the death of 38 people, including my brother," said Sumit Sahu, Dolagobinda's elder brother. Samir Padhy (24), a machine operator from Baharapur, is fighting for life with 35% burns in a Hyderabad hospital's ICU. His colleague, Papu Kumar Choudhury, recalled, "I had just left the area when the first explosion occurred. The entire area was plunged into darkness with smoke, trapping several workers inside." The bodies of the deceased have been sent to their native places by ambulances, and the injured are reported to be stable, according to officials coordinating the rescue efforts.
