Majhi announces Rs 10 Lakh ex-gratia for families of Odia workers killed in fire in Sigachi Pharma company
According to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), eight workers were killed in the tragic fire. The deceased have been identified as Rajnala Jagan Mohan, Lagnajit Duari, Manoj Rout, Daogobinda Sahu, Chaitu Batra, Ramesh Giud, and Sidharth Gouda.
The Odisha government has deputed two officers to Telangana to assist and support the affected families.
Dr. Chandra Shekhar Hota and Pritish Kumar Panda have already reached the site and are coordinating with the Sangareddy district administration to extend all possible help the the
Odia workers.
The officials had visited the injured workers in the hospital and are providing all necessary support, including ensuring appropriate medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Odisha Family Affairs has made arrangements to repatriate the bodies of the deceased to Odisha and is coordinating all necessary assistance for their bereaved families, official sources said.

Stampede at Ausaneshwar Mahadev Temple leaves two dead, 29 injured
Barabanki, July 28 (UNI) A tragic incident occurred at the Ausaneshwar Mahadev Temple in Barabanki during the third Monday of the holy month of Shrawan, when a stampede broke out in the temple premises, leading to the death of two devotees. A total of 29 other devotees, including women and children were also injured in the mishap. The stampede took place around 2 am during the Jalabhishek ritual. According to initial reports, the chaos was triggered after an electric current spread through the temple premises. Authorities stated that the electric wires snapped and fell onto a tin shed inside the temple complex after some monkeys jumped on them, causing a short circuit. As panic spread among the devotees due to the electric shock and the resulting commotion, a stampede broke out. Upon receiving information about the incident, a large police force was deployed to the site. The injured were immediately rushed to Haidergarh and Trivediganj Community Health Centres via ambulances. Those critically injured were referred to the district hospital. District Magistrate Shashank Tripathi and Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijayvargiya, along with other senior officials, reached the spot to assess the situation. The DM confirmed the cause of the incident, stating that the broken electric wire had come into contact with the tin shed, leading to the current spread and subsequent chaos. Among the deceased is Prashant (22), a resident of Mubarakpura, who died during treatment at the Trivediganj CHC. Another unidentified devotee also succumbed to injuries. Ten injured persons were brought to the CHC, out of which five in critical condition were referred for advanced treatment. Eyewitnesses confirmed that the stampede ensued after rumors of electric current spread among the crowd, causing devotees to panic and rush for safety. Authorities have since brought the situation under control, and two hours after the incident, the temple resumed normalcy, with devotees continuing to offer prayers and perform Jalabhishek in queues. Migrant worker's son and wife beaten by Delhi police; Mamata Banerjee posts video
Kolkata July 27 (UNI): A migrant worker's wife and young son, who had travelled from West Bengal to Delhi in search of work, were allegedly assaulted by the police. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee protested against the incident by posting a video on social media. Launching an attack against the BJP-led Central Government and the ruling party in Delhi, she wrote, "Even a child is not spared from linguistic terrorism." In the video shared by the Chief Minister, a young man is seen showing injury marks on his young son's body, saying, "Look what they have done to my son. The police beat him and injured his forehead." He is also heard alleging in the video that all their essential belongings were thrown away. The man's wife also appears in the video. Huge cache of banned cough syrups seized in Odisha, three arrested
States » East Bhubaneswar, July 27 (UNI) Police in Odisha's Bargarh district have arrested three persons for smuggling of codeine-laced Wincerex and Eskuf cough syrup, a banned substance under Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS). Acting upon specific intelligence regarding hoarding and transportation of cough syrup by suspected drug peddlers in the Bisipada area, a raid was conducted and three persons were intercepted on Saturday, police said. In the presence of an Executive Magistrate and government witness, a search was conducted, leading to the recovery of 1970 bottles of Wincerex cough syrup and Eskuf cough syrup and 1000 Nitrosun Tablets . All necessary legal formalities under the NDPS Act were duly followed. The accused persons were taken into custody yesterday and were forwarded to Court. Later they were sent to jail after the Court rejected his bail application. Further investigation is underway to trace the origin of the contraband articles and unearth the broader network involved in the illicit drug trade, said Superintendent of Police, Bargarh, Prahlad Sahai Meena.
