Ltd. Rajput, currently posted at 3BRD Chandigarh, had booked a 3BHK flat in Palm Heights project at Derabassi back in 2015. Like many homebuyers, she dreamed of a secure future in her own home. But what followed was a near-decade-long ordeal marked by broken promises, financial strain, and legal battles. Due to rising EMI burdens, Rajput later opted for a smaller 1BHK unit. Despite assurances, she never received possession of the flat. Instead, she was bombarded with legal notices from ICICI Home Finance over unpaid EMIs — on a loan she had taken in good faith, expecting the builder to fulfill their end of the bargain. When that too was ignored, she filed a formal complaint in July 2021. The builder tried to dismiss her as an investor rather than a genuine consumer, a claim the commission firmly rejected. Following a thorough review of documents, affidavits, and site photographs, the commission found Palm Heights Pvt Ltd guilty of deficiency in service and unfair trade practices. The commission ordered the builder to refund Rs 2.5 lakh with 9% annual interest, full settlement of the outstanding home loan with ICICI Home Finance, correction of Rajput's CIBIL score and pay Rs 25,000 in compensation for mental harassment and litigation costs. The commission has given the builder 30 days to comply, failing which the interest rate will rise to 12% per annum.

Woman, her minor children abducted at gunpoint from M.P. found in Haryana; prime accused, six others held
The Madhya Pradesh Police on Sunday (June 22, 2025) found a woman and her two minor daughters, allegedly abducted at gunpoint from their home in Chhatarpur district, from Haryana's Bhiwani, police officers said, adding that a total of seven men, including the prime accused, have also been arrested. The alleged abduction took place on Saturday in Chhatarpur's Sumedi village, under Lavkushnagar police station limits, when about a dozen men, carrying firearms and sticks, took the woman and her daughters, aged 7 and 5, from their home in broad daylight at around 12.30 p.m. The men had also thrashed the woman's husband Hariram Pal and opened fires in the air before leaving in a car and motorbikes. A video of the incident has also gone viral on social media. Lavkushnagar sub-divisional police officer (SDOP) Naveen Dubey told The Hindu that the woman and children were found with the prime accused, identified as Sanjay Rajput, who had taken them to Bhiwani after the abduction. Mr. Dubey said that six more men, involved in the incident, have been arrested from different parts of Chhatarpur, while at least four police teams are currently conducting raids to nab others. 'All remaining suspects have been identified,' he said. 'Based on the inputs from the men arrested from here, we traced Sanjay Rajput to Haryana's Bhiwani and a team was sent there. The local police there helped us find them,' Mr. Dubey said, that the accused and the three victims will leave from Haryana after finishing the formalities at the local police station. 'They are expected to arrive here [Chhatarpur] on Monday morning after which we will question Rajput and the woman,' he said. Mr. Dubey said that the neighbours and family members of the woman have revealed that she and Mr. Rajput had been in a relationship for about two years. 'The family had known about this for a while and had asked him [Mr. Rajput] to stop coming to their house. They even had some disputes over the past few months and had a fight last week, after which he planned the abduction,' the SDOP said. Mr. Dubey, however, said that it is yet to be ascertained whether the woman had anything to do with the planning or if she 'went wilfully' with the accused. 'We will question her about these aspects once they reach here,' he said. After the video went viral, Chhatarpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Agam Jain had formed five teams to trace the victims and had also declared a reward of Rs10,000 on the accused. A case under relevant charges, including kidnapping, attempt to murder and assault, as per the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as under the Arms Act had been filed on Saturday, Mr. Dubey said. The police have also seized at least four vehicles involved in the abduction.

Faridabad: Missing woman was killed in sleep by father-in-law over family feud
The 25-year-old woman whose body was found buried in a soak-pit in front of her in-laws' house in Faridabad's Roshan Nagar on Friday, was strangled to death by her father-in-law while she was asleep on April 21, police said on Saturday. Bhoop Singh, 54, was arrested late on Friday, produced before a city court on Saturday, and taken on a two-day police custody. Tannu Rajput was killed two months ago and buried in a pit outside her in-laws' house, who then told everyone that she had eloped. (HT Photo) During interrogation, Singh told police that family feud was the primary reason behind the murder and he entered Tannu Rajput's room on the night of April 21 when she had fallen asleep. He strangled her to death with her scarf. The deceased's husband Arun Singh, 28, registered a missing person's case at Palla police station on April 24. It is yet not clear if the husband or the other in-laws knew about the crime or were involved. 'We suspect that there might be some other factor too which he is trying to hide,' assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Rajesh Lohan said, adding that Singh, his daughter, and Rajput were present in the house at the time of the crime. Singh runs a tailor shop inside the four-storey house and kept misguiding the police during interrogation in the past months as whenever called, he would reach the Palla police station for 'help and cooperation' to trace her 'missing' daughter-in-law, the ACP said. 'Arun Singh, a private firm employee, was on night duty like other days while his mother was out of town to attend a wedding. The deceased's sister-in-law had gone to sleep on the ground floor while she was sleeping in her bedroom on the first-floor,' Lohan added. After the murder, Singh said he dragged Rajput's body downstairs and dumped it into the soak-pit dug right in front of the entrance and covered it with sand late in the night. Next morning, he filled it further with bricks and roped in a mason to get it cemented. He later told the family members that she had probably eloped as the main gate was open when he woke up on April 22. Police said the pit was dug for sewer connection a couple of days before the murder. After some days, Rajput's family approached Faridabad police and urged them to quiz the father-in-law for clues to know her whereabouts as they suspected foul play. On Friday, police again called the suspect for questioning, when he finally told them about the incident. Police said Rajput's husband, sister-in-law and mother-in-law may also be arrested if their involvement surfaces after further investigation. The missing person's case has been transformed into a murder case by invoking sections 103(1) (murder), 3(5) (common intention) and 61 (criminal conspiracy) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Rajput's husband and other members of the Singh family, police said.

The Allahabad High Court has stayed the arrest of Karni Sena member Okendra Singh Rana in two separate FIRs lodged against him in connection with the attack on the Agra residence of Samajwadi Party MP Ram Ji Lal Suman in March allegedly by the right-wing group. The incident had taken place following a remark Suman made in Parliament on 16th century Rajput king Rana Sanga.
