People losing faith in police, administration: Ram Kripal
Patna: After LJP (RV) chief Chirag Paswan, senior BJP leader and former Union minister Ram Kripal Yadav on Monday expressed serious concern over the frequent murders taking place in Patna and other parts of the state.
Talking to this newspaper, Ram Kripal asked: "Yeh kya ho raha hai. If this is the crime situation in Patna where all the top officials sit, then one can imagine the situation in remote areas of Bihar. Police and administration must control the situation, otherwise people are losing faith in them," he said on way to meet the bereaved family of party leader Surendra Kewat, who was shot dead by unidentified criminals Saturday night.
Ram Kripal, once considered as the 'Hanuman' of RJD chief Lalu Prasad before he parted ways and twice became the BJP MP from Patliputra constituency by defeating Lalu's daughter Misa Bharti in 2014 and 2019 before losing to her in 2024 Lok Sabha polls, however, praised CM Nitish Kumar for prompt action in the businessman Gopal Khemka murder case.
But he said, "Public perception matters a lot and there is no better example of this than that of Lalu, who was thrown out of power on the twin issues of corruption and crime."

He was referring to the state assembly elections scheduled this year.
He blamed the police for the rising crime and sought investigation into the involvement of RJD people, as has been alleged by BJP leader and deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha.
But he said, "Hatya ka daur jyada hin ho raha hai. Kahin to full stop lagega. It's a matter of worry as people are feeling insecure and losing faith in the police. The administration must act tough against criminals to revive people's faith in the system."
Earlier, Union minister Chirag Paswan raised his concern and asked, "How many more murders will Biharis face now? It is beyond understanding what is the responsibility of Bihar Police."
