City forest to come up in Ayodhya soon

Ayodhya/Lucknow: A barren piece of land will be converted into a city forest, creating another attraction for visitors heading to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Spread over a 230-acre area along the Saryu river, the project is estimated to cost Rs 20 crore. The local development authority has submitted the detailed project report to the housing department for approval. The Ayodhya development authority has identified land near Dashrath Samadhi for developing the city forest. To be set up in Sita Rampur village, the chosen site is situated close to the solar city. Vice-chairman of the authority, Ashwini Kumar Pandey said, "We will name the mini forest as Shabri Van Vatika. It will improve the environmental conditions of the city and will be a prime tourist destination." As no such project has been undertaken in the state so far, the govt has sought the budget estimates required on a yearly basis to complete various phases of the project. The authority officials, meanwhile, said that apart from focusing on planting local species of trees, both flower-bearing and fruit-bearing trees will also be planted. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo To cater to the tourists, restaurants and commercial complexes will be developed strategically within the 230-acre layout, and walkways will be developed to attract the local population interested in morning and evening walks. Awhad's slogans instigated Padalkar before scuffle in assembly: Gorhe

Pune: The state legislative council's deputy chairperson, Neelam Gorhe, on Saturday said NCP (SP) MLA Jitendra Awhad's slogans instigated BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar before the scuffle between their supporters on Thursday on the assembly premises, referring to a govt report on the incident. Gorhe said, "The report on the incident has been submitted in the assembly. It mentions that Awhad was seen shouting some slogans aiming at Padalkar, which instigated him. In any case, such kind of behaviour within the premises of the assembly is not acceptable." Interacting with reporters in Pune a day after the monsoon session ended, Gorhe expressed disappointment over the scuffle. The senior Shiv Sena member said, "This is the first time I experienced such a thing happening on the assembly premises. There is a norm that nobody should be shouting on the assembly premises, but the SOP (standard operating procedure) was not followed." I punished Padalkar for misconduct and did not allow him to participate in discussions in the council for a day earlier. After that punishment, I saw some improvement in him," she said. Reacting to speculations over Thackeray cousins reuniting ahead of the civic polls, Shiv Sena's senior member Gorhe said both politicians were senior and she was a common Shiv Sainik. "Both Uddhav and Raj are seniors, but Eknath Shinde continued on the path of Balasaheb Thackeray. Be it Article 370 or Ram Temple issue, Shinde has followed the Hindutva path," Gorhe added. Replying to the "honey trap" allegation of the MVA members against some bureaucrats and former ministers of the state, Gorhe said, "If the opposition members have any evidence regarding the honey trap issue, they should present it in the court."

Why SP is stepping up to mark Kanwar Yatra: ‘PDA' banners to Mulayam, Akhilesh photos

The Samajwadi Party (SP) has been going all out to take on the ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh in the run-up to the 2027 Assembly polls. While a trust headed by SP president Akhilesh Yadav is engaged in the construction of the Kedareshwar Mahadev Temple in Etawah district — with several similarities to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya — party workers are now also taking part in Kanwar Yatra. The SP has sought to give its own touch to the Kanwar Yatra, which is one of the main religious events in North India every year, involving many devotees from UP. The SP workers have got pictures of Akhilesh and party founder late Mulayam Singh Yadav as well as slogans pasted on kanwars — the containers with holy water from the Ganges that the devotees carry back home after undertaking the yatra. On July 16, a group of 15 SP workers started the Kanwar Yatra from Haridwar in Uttarakhand. They will be travelling to a Shiva temple in Noida in a vehicle with a music system and large banners stating: 'Samajwadi PDA dwara vishal Kanwar Yatra (SP PDA's majestic Kanwar Yatra)'. On Friday, Akhilesh posted a video of the SP workers' Kanwar journey, with a message that the party has been praying for for public welfare. This messaging is in line with his PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpasankhyak) outreach, aimed at reaching out to the backward classes, Scheduled Castes (SCs) and minorities. Noida-based SP leader Praveen Yadav, who is supervising this Kanwar Yatra, said the BJP's followers often take part in such a Yatra with photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He, however, claimed that 'There is no politics behind our Kanwar Yatra. It is a matter of faith only.' The SP's strategy is aimed at countering allegations of 'minority appeasement' levelled against it by the BJP. The ruling party has repeatedly accused the SP of allegedly 'ignoring the interests of Hindu devotees for the appeasement of Muslims'. SP spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said: 'This is a reply to BJP which claims that only it has association with such religious programmes. Yatra is a matter of faith and everyone can participate in it. BJP uses Kanwar Yatra only for political purposes.' Chaudhary said that SP workers were starting their Kanwar Yatra from Haridwar under the supervision of party national secretary S N Sachan. 'They are SP workers and doing it in favour of the party and PDA in their own capacity. Party's Muslim workers are welcoming them and offering them refreshments,' he added. Earlier this week, the SP's Kairana MP Iqra Hasan attended a Kanwar Yatra camp in Saharanpur in west UP, wore a saffron scarf and served meals to devotees. On July 7, at a press conference in Lucknow, Akhilesh said he would construct a dedicated corridor for the movement of devotees undertaking the Kanwar Yatra in the event of the SP coming to power. He also alleged that the BJP dispensation has not made adequate arrangements for the Kanwariyas. 'They (BJP government) are constructing a Gorakhpur link (road) by spending Rs 7,000 crore. But they cannot develop a corridor with Rs 1,000 crore for Kanwariyas,' Akhilesh said. A day later, UP Deputy CM and senior BJP leader Keshav Prasad Maurya accused the previous SP-led administrations of firing on 'Ram bhakts' and lathicharging 'Shiv bhakts'. The Etawah temple is nearing completion in the next six months, ahead of the 2027 state Assembly polls. The temple is spread across about 11 acres of land in the heart of the Yadav belt and is already attracting about 1,000 devotees each month. The temple's foundation was laid by Akhilesh in 2021, seven months after Prime Minister Narendra Modi did the same for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Its consecration ceremony was led by SP MP Dimple Yadav, Akhilesh's wife, around the same time when PM Modi inaugurated the Ram Temple in January 2024.

"PM Modi Built Ram Mandir, Brought 5G To India": Amit Shah

Prime Minister Narendra Modi built the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and also brought 5G, said Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday, underlining the government's focus on both heritage and progress. "People with leftist ideology ask what good came from building the Ram Mandir. I say they won't understand. Modi ji built the Ram temple and brought 5G to India. He took digital payments to the vegetable seller on the street," Mr Shah said, while attending 63rd Foundation Day of Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP). The Minister also highlighted Modi government's broader efforts - from replacing colonial symbols with Indian ones to expanding AIIMS, IITs, and promoting education in regional languages. Praising BVP's legacy of selfless service inspired by Swami Vivekananda, Mr Shah said the organisation has over 1,600 branches across the country and continues to serve with dedication, especially during disasters and social causes. "It is not just an organisation, but an idea that links Indians to their identity," said Mr Shah. "BVP has been walking the path of service long before this era-and it will continue to do so," Mr Shah added.

PM Modi gifts hand-etched silver lion to Argentine President, silver replica of Ram Temple to T&T PM

New Delhi, July 7 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is known to gift taste-fully chosen hand-crafted artefacts from different parts of India to world leaders during his meetings with them, has gifted a hand-etched silver lion to the President of Argentine Javier Milei and a silver replica of the Ayodhya Ram Temple to the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Kamla Persad-Bissessar, during his recent visits to the countries. During his meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei in Buenos Aires on July 5, the PM gifted the Argentine leader a 'Hand-etched Silver Lion on a Fuchsite Stone Base' from Rajasthan. The hand-etched silver lion is a striking example of Rajasthan's renowned metalwork and gemstone artistry. The intricately detailed silver lion symbolizes courage and leadership, while the Fuchsite base—known as the 'Stone of Healing and Resilience'—adds natural beauty and meaning. Crafted by skilled Rajasthani artisans using silver and Fuchsite sourced from India's mineral-rich regions, this piece beautifully embodies the country's rich artistic and geological heritage. To the Vice President of Argentina Victoria Villarruel, he gifted her a Madhubani painting of the Sun. This Madhubani painting showcases one of India's oldest folk art traditions from the Mithila region of Bihar. Renowned for bold lines, intricate patterns, and natural colours, Madhubani art traditionally adorned walls during festivals to bring prosperity and ward off negativity. This piece highlights the Sun, a symbol of energy and life, surrounded by detailed floral borders and motifs that fill every space—a hallmark of the style. Rooted in cultural heritage and meticulous craftsmanship, it is both a decorative piece and a vibrant tribute to India's enduring folk artistry. His gift to the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Kamla Persad-Bissessar, on July 4 during their meeting in Port of Spain, comprised a Kalash with Sacred water from River Saryu and a Silver Replica of the Ayodhya Ram temple. The Kalash, filled with the sacred waters of the River Sarayu, is a revered symbol of purity, blessings, and spiritual grace. The Sarayu, flowing through Ayodhya — the birthplace of Lord Ram — holds deep significance in Hindu tradition, believed to absolve sins and bring peace and prosperity. Crafted in metal, the Kalash embodies abundance and sanctity, making it an auspicious offering or gift that invokes divine protection, health, and spiritual well-being. It connects the giver and receiver to Ayodhya's timeless legacy of Dharma, devotion, and liberation. The Silver Replica of the Ayodhya Ram temple is a finely handcrafted tribute to one of India's most sacred spiritual sites. Made by skilled artisans from Uttar Pradesh, it captures the grandeur and intricate architecture of the Shri Ram Temple — symbolising dharma, righteousness, and divine blessings. Cast entirely in pure silver, the miniature temple embodies purity, devotion, and cultural pride. Ideal for worship spaces, homes, or as a meaningful gift, it reflects Uttar Pradesh's rich heritage of temple art and metalwork. The silver piece is a timeless keepsake that honours Ayodhya's spiritual legacy and India's sacred traditions. UNI XC RN
