Girls serving in army and space sectors symbol of progress: Siddaramaiah
Bengaluru: Expressing appreciation that girls are leading in scoring 100 per cent marks, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said their presence in the armed forces and space sector is a symbol of the progress of the female community. He was speaking after inaugurating the 300th birth anniversary celebration of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar held at Ravindra Kalakshetra. 'Education, organisation, and struggle' is the mantra given by Dr BR Ambedkar to the oppressed castes and communities. 'Shudras' and women were denied access to literacy and education. But due to Ambedkar's contributions, opportunities for education became available to the 'Shudras' and women. The compulsory education law provided by our Constitution also helped in this regard, CM Siddaramaiah said. 'My grandmother used to say 'Kurubas' are far from education, why should we study? But I went to school, earned a law degree, and became the Chief Minister. Had I not used the opportunity to study, I too would have ended up grazing cattle and sheep. Hence, Rani Ahilyabai's educational revolution became an inspiration to all and to this women's organisation,' he said. 'Those who do not know history cannot shape the future,' he remarked. Despite being in power for 20 years, Rani Ahilyabai Holkar did not aspire to expand her kingdom. Though the royal treasury was full, she led a simple life and prioritised good governance and development. She also played a vital role in social reform by working to end child marriage, he noted. Rani Ahilyabai had a secular mindset and had even supported inter-caste marriage, the CM pointed out. Only when women become socially and economically empowered through education can inequality be eradicated and social development achieved, he said. 'No one becomes lazy because of our government's welfare schemes. On the contrary, they become socially empowered,' Siddaramaiah stated. 'Our government has implemented various schemes like Gruha Lakshmi and Shakti to empower women. These programmes have brought strength to society and to women, not laziness,' he clarified. The Chief Minister announced that land will be allotted in Bengaluru for the Karnataka Ahilyabai Mahila Samaja. CM Siddaramaiah further said that completing 25 years is a major achievement for any organisation. The Karnataka State Ahilyabai Holkar Women's Association has been highly successful. Yellamma and everyone involved deserve appreciation for their efforts, he added.

Subhadra embodies Rani Ahilyabai Holkar's ideals: Odisha CM
BHUBANESWAR: The state government's Subhadra Yojana is an embodiment of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar's ideals of social justice and women's empowerment, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Saturday. Addressing a state-level function to mark the 300th birth anniversary of Punyashloka Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar here, the chief minister said she was not just a great ruler but a social reformer and philanthropist. Her life and work are a source of inspiration for generations and she is a unique example of women's empowerment, good governance and social service which are reflected in the policies of the state government, he added. 'Ahilyabai has immortalised herself in Indian history with her justice, courage and unparalleled dedication to her people. Her life is a source of inspiration for us, guiding us on the path of good governance and social welfare. We too need to promote justice, education and equality in our society,' Majhi stressed. Describing Subhadra Yojana as a revolutionary scheme for the empowerment of women, the chief minister said the aim of the scheme is to help them become financially self-reliant and socially progressive. 'If we look at the current governance system, we see that many state governments have taken inspiration from Ahilyabai's ideals. Our government is giving importance to rural development, women's empowerment, education and health which is in line with Ahilyabai's vision,' he said. Speaker Surama Padhy, deputy CM Pravati Parida and several ministers attended the function.

BJP to celebrate 300th birth anniv of Ahilyabai on a grand scale
Varanasi: The BJP 's Varanasi unit is set to celebrate the 300th birth anniversary of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar on a grand scale from May 21 to 31. The nationwide program will feature a series of events honoring the queen's legacy. Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had unveiled her statue at the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and praised her contributions to restoring temples, including Kashi Vishwanath and Somnath. To commemorate her birth tricentenary, the party has planned various events, including inter-college competitions for female students to promote women's empowerment . Seminars will discuss her life philosophy and cultural contributions, while aarti ceremonies will be held at ghats and temples she restored. An exhibition showcasing her life and legacy will also be displayed at the district office, said MLC and in-charge of city and district units, Arun Pathak, and city president Pradeep Agrahari. They said that assemblies, conferences for panchayat representatives, and women's empowerment conferences would be organised at the block level. The programmes will also be held at the universities and colleges through NGOs. They said that Rani Ahilyabai was not limited to Kashi, she also undertook restoration work at Kedarnath Dham, Rameshwaram, Somnath, Haridwar, Mahishmati, and many other pilgrimage sites across the country.
