Boy, 6, is killed in car crash as his three brothers fight for their lives in hospital
A six-year-old Texas boy was tragically killed and his three brothers critically injured when the UTV they were riding in flipped and tossed them all from the vehicle. Raul Chavez was riding in the Polaris UTV in Gainesville on July 13 with his siblings, aged between 6 and 13-years-old, when it lost control and rolled over. All four young boys were ejected in the devastating crash. 'It turned on one side, and my baby fell to the side,' Juarez told WFAA. 'It fell on him.' Raul tragically died from his injuries, according to Gainesville Police. He had no heartbeat by the time they reached the hospital, his mother, Ana Juarez, told the outlet. His 9-year-old brother was treated at Fort Worth hospital for pelvic fractures and bruises to his lungs and liver but was released Wednesday. He still has a long recovery ahead. 'We're taking it one day at a time,' his mother said. It's unclear at this time what the condition of the other two boys is. Police have not confirmed who was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. Police also did not announce what caused the vehicle to flip. A GoFundMe was created by a friend and student of Raul's mother, who described the little boy as 'a bright light - joyful, kind, full of curiosity and love.' 'There are no words to describe the depth of this tragedy,' the GoFundMe tribute states. 'His goal was to be a soccer goalie and could not wait to make those dreams come true,' the description continues. 'Their presence brought warmth to everyone around them. Now, their family is left not only grieving a heartbreaking loss but also facing overwhelming emotional and financial burdens.' The fundraiser has reached $7,393 of its $20,000 goal. A candlelight vigil is being held on July 21 in Raul's memory. The accident remains under investigation. 'Raul was more than just a player on the field he was a part of our family,' Ennis Soccer Association said in a July 14 Facebook post. 'A teammate, a brother, a friend. His spirit, kindness, and smile touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.'

Man shoots bystander at East El Paso park, court documents say
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 20-year-old man is facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly shot a bystander at a park in East El Paso, according to court documents obtained by KTSM. Court documents say Raul Chavez, 20, from Mesquite, New Mexico, is facing the charge after he allegedly shot a 62-year-old woman in the back who was passing by Ranchos Del Sol Park in a vehicle with her husband on Saturday evening, Feb. 15. A 16-year-old girl who was at the scene told police that she was taken to Ranchos Del Sol Park by her mother so that she could fight another 16-year-old girl. The teenage girl told police that while at the park, she saw a blue Dodge Charger arrive and was doing a burnout. The driver of the Dodge Charger was later identified as Chavez, according to court documents. The teenage girl told police that the girl she was going to fight was also in the Dodge Charger. The teenage girl told police that the front passenger of the car, another teenage girl, rolled down the window and started 'bad-mouthing' her, according to court documents. The teenage girl told police that she then heard something that sounded like a 'firecracker' and started running. The teenage girl then ran away and saw Chavez drive off as he started shooting a gun, according to court documents. Other witnesses who were present during the incident also told police that Chavez opened the sunroof of the vehicle and shot a gun through the sunroof while he drove off towards Joe Battle. Chavez was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on Saturday, March 1, under a $100,000 split bond. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
