Create Account The Real Time With Bill Maher host and Texas congressman Wesley Hunt delved into Goldberg's comments, in which she claimed life for Black Americans was equal to women and the LGBTQ community living in Iran. Maher acknowledged that Democrats took a step 'back to sanity' after the New York Times took a more 'sensible liberal, not crazy woke' position on transgender issues. But then the comedian took aim at The View , suggesting the Dems 'do something' about the daytime talk show. On the June 18 show, Goldberg and co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin got into a heated debate over human rights violations in Iran. Griffin noted how under Ayatollah's oppressive regime, 'Iranians literally throw gay people off of buildings' and women face imprisonment if their skin or hair is showing. Goldberg then brought up how in America, people have tied 'gay folks' to cars and 'they used to just keep hanging Black people,' but the former Trump staffer argued that 'the Iranian regime today, in 2025, is nothing compared to the United States.' Griffin added: 'I think it's very different to live in the United States in 2025 than it is to live in Iran in 2025,' prompting Goldberg to reply, 'Not if you're Black.' Hunt shot down Goldberg's comparison, pointing out the success he has found in America as a Black man. Your noon-hour look at what's happening in Toronto and beyond. 'My district in the great state of Texas is actually a white majority district that President Trump would have won by 25 points,' he told Maher. 'As I said, I'm a direct descendant of a slave, my great-great-grandfather, who was born on Rosedown Plantation. I am literally being judged not by the colour of my skin but by the content of my character,' he explained. 'That's the progress because — like a lot of white people had to vote for me — a lot,' he continued. 'So I don't ever want to hear Whoopi Goldberg's conversation about how it's worse to be black in America right now.' RECOMMENDED VIDEO The Republican noted that his father, who grew up under Jim Crow, is now the dad of a U.S. congressman in a white majority district who ran as a Republican. 'I don't want it. I don't want Black History Month. I don't want all these days to make everybody feel special,' Hunt replied. 'I'm an '80s baby,' he said. 'Everybody's too sensitive anyway. We're all Americans anyway.' Toronto & GTA Toronto Maple Leafs Toronto & GTA Toronto Blue Jays NBA

Create Account Penn appeared on Maher's Club Random podcast to discuss a wide range of topics, including, likening nuclear energy to marriage, and Adolf Hitler 'stealing' Charlie Chaplin's moustache. But when the subject turned to the Real Time With Bill Maher host's meeting with Trump, Penn ridiculed him over some of the president's comments, including his threat to annex Canada. 'But you do, I hope, think I did the right thing to have dinner with him,' Maher said to his 'great friend,' to which the Oscar winner replied, 'Absolutely, you're so smart.' However, Penn said he would reject an invitation to meet with Trump if he ever received one, and that he wished Maher didn't spend so much time discussing the visit on his show. 'Really, you meet with f***ing Castro and Hugo Chavez, but not the president of the United States?' Maher shot back. Your noon-hour look at what's happening in Toronto and beyond. In April, Maher revealed on his show that he had dinner at the White House with Trump and musician Kid Rock and UFC boss Dana White. The HBO star noted that Trump was ' one of the most effective politicians ' after what he described as a generally positive meeting with the president — something Penn took issue with, admitting he wished the dinner had been 'less successful.' Maher pointed out, 'Well, it was less successful because I never stopped saying all the things I've always said about him. It would've been successful if he had somehow seduced me into supporting him, so it wasn't successful.' Penn has previously sat down with Communist leaders Raul Castro and Hugo Chavez. He continued: 'It's like saying, 'I don't want this medical test because I don't want to know.' I want to know.' Elon Musk Shares Apparent Results of Urinary Drugs Test: 'Lol'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Elon Musk shared a post on X with an image of what looked to be a negative drug test for multiple substances including ketamine, cocaine and amphetamines. Musk posted the image with the caption "lol," directly addressing ongoing public allegations about his purported drug use, which he has repeatedly denied. Newsweek was unable to confirm the veracity of the image. Newsweek has reached out to Fastest Labs of South Austin and United States Drug Testing, which are both listed in the image, via online contact forms for confirmation. Newsweek has reached out to Musk via X's press email for comment outside of regular working hours. Why It Matters Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has been a prominent figure in politics over the past year, thanks to his high-profile relationship with Trump and role in the 2024 presidential campaign. L: Screenshot from Musk's X showing the apparent negative drug test. R: Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk delivers remarks in the Oval Office at the White House on February 11, 2025 in Washington, D.C. More Elon Musk/X/His post on X, the platform he owns, follows weeks of controversy sparked by a New York Times report that cited unnamed sources alleging Musk took a "cocktail" of substances during the campaign and while advising President Donald Trump. What To Know Tuesday's post, which has been viewed 4 million times as of reporting, follows another allegation in the media of the tech billionaire's apparent drug use. On Friday's episode of Real Time With Bill Maher, the host alleged Musk had developed "a drug habit" under Trump. In response, Musk wrote on X Saturday: "I'm not on drugs ffs [for f***'s sake]." The apparent drug test results show the test was carried out on June 11, the same day Musk shared a public apology on X addressed to Trump, stating he "went too far" with previous posts about the president following a falling-out over major legislation. The image of the drug test states that the test was done via urine sample and listed the reason for the test as other. The test shows apparent negative results for the following substances: benzodiazepines, amphetamines, ecstasy, barbiturates, buprenorphine, cocaine, ketamine, methadone, meperidine, zolpidems, opiates, PCP, oxycodone, propoxyphene, cannabinoids, tramadol, ethanol, fentanyl and carisoprodol. Though Newsweek has been unable to verify the veracity of the image, the drug test lists a woman named Jennifer Taylor as being associated with Fastest Labs of South Austin. Newsweek has seen a LinkedIn profile which lists Taylor as the owner of Fastest Labs and states that Fastest Labs provides "Industry-Leading Drug, Alcohol & DNA Testing." The New York Times investigation published on May 30 alleged that Musk consumed high doses of ketamine to the point of developing bladder problems and routinely took ecstasy and mushrooms. The report cited unnamed people familiar with Musk's activities and photographs showing he traveled with a daily pill box holding around 20 medications, some reportedly with Adderall markings. The Times noted uncertainty over whether Musk used drugs during his White House tenure but described erratic behavior, including public insults directed at cabinet members and a gesture which has been described as resembling a Nazi salute at Trump's inauguration. In a now widely shared post, Musk said: "I am NOT taking drugs! The New York Times was lying their a** off." He further stated: "I tried 'prescription' ketamine a few years ago and said so on X, so this is not even news. It helps for getting out of dark mental holes, but haven't taken it since then." Musk also emphasized his high-profile lifestyle, claiming that his drug use would be apparent given his constant presence at meetings and in the media, writing on X that the allegations were "bs" (bulls***). When Trump was asked on June 9 if Musk "had drugs here at the White House," the president responded: "I really don't know. I don't think so. I hope not." Musk and Trump had a very public falling out on June 5 after the former labeled Trump's domestic legislative agenda a "disgusting abomination" and made references on X to the president's alleged ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Trump subsequently expressed disappointment in Musk. The spat corresponded with a steep drop in the value of Tesla stock, impacting both Musk's personal fortune and the company's market capitalization. A little over a week later he issued a public apology to Trump on X. What People Are Saying The New York Times said that Musk "took ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms. And he traveled with a daily medication box that held about 20 pills, including ones with the markings of the stimulant Adderall." Elon Musk on X: "I'm in meetings with dozens to hundreds of people every day and am photographed constantly. If this bs from NYT were true, it would have been EXTREMELY obvious." President Donald Trump on Friday June 6: "I'm not troubled by anything with Elon." What Happens Next Musk has now left his role in the White House, where he was a special government employee, a category for temporary federal workers who are only supposed to work 130 days out of 365 in their roles. DOGE remains operational.

Elon Musk Hits Back at Bill Maher Over Drugs Claim
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Elon Musk fired back at Bill Maher over a claim he made about the Tesla CEO using drugs. Newsweek reached out to Musk's representative via email for comment on Monday. The Context Musk is the richest person in the world with a current net worth of $413 billion, per Forbes. The SpaceX founder—who purchased Twitter in 2022 and changed its name to X in 2023—has two degrees from the University of Pennsylvania: a Bachelor of Science in economics and Bachelor of Arts in physics. The former head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) made headlines recently following his social media messages directed at President Donald Trump. More; Stefanie Keenan/VF25/WireImage for Vanity Fair What To Know On Friday's episode of Real Time With Bill Maher, the host spoke about Musk for over six minutes. When Maher alleged Musk had "developed a drug habit," the 53-year-old spoke out. "Bill Maher says Elon Musk developed a drug habit," X account @cb_doge captioned a segment of the HBO show. "This is mass propaganda trying to damage his image, just like they tried in February last year. They failed then, and they'll fail again. Shame on them." In response, Musk wrote: "I'm not on drugs ffs [for f***'s sake]." I'm not on drugs ffs 🤦♂️ — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 14, 2025 In the video, Maher said Musk is an "engineering genius who figured out how to do more vital, life-shaping things than anyone since [Thomas] Edison." He added of Musk's relationship with Trump: "I get it. You were hurt in your previous relationship with the left, so you threw yourself into a bad rebound." "We've all been there, man. I just want you to look at everything you developed before Trump. The electric car, the reusable rockets, the brain chips—and then look what you developed after Trump: a drug habit," Maher continued, while referencing a Daily Beast article titled: "Insiders Spill on Elon Musk's Frenzied Drug Use." In May, The New York Times reported the South Africa native had used drugs "intensely" during the 2024 presidential election, and that it went "well beyond occasional use." Last week, Trump was asked if Musk "had drugs here at the White House," to which Trump responded: "I really don't know. I don't think so. I hope not." What People Are Saying The segment about Musk on Real Time with Bill Maher was shared to the show's YouTube channel, where many pushed back on Maher's comment that he is an "engineering genius." YouTube user @Caramelle58 wrote: "Engineering genius? Doesn't he have a bachelor in economics and a bachelor in physics? Don't think that makes him an outstanding engineer, but he certainly had good instincts in finding the right projects to invest in, the real geniuses need people like him." @rksherman1 said: "I cringe when I hear Elon Musk referred to as an "Engineer" rather than a wealthy investor who has some comprehension of science who has invested in the right things at the right time. Maybe he could be considered a visionary who had the money to put together the teams that engineered his products, but don't call him an engineer." @ScottHarper-u4r shared: "He doesn't have a degree in engineering." Others, meanwhile, defended Musk: @jacquelineiona1996 posted: "What Bill is saying is why I didn't give up on Elon Musk! I still think he is a genius at engineering." @sardonicspartan9343 added: "I support Elon and DOGE." @OldToby33 chimed in: "Love him or hate him, but you can't say Elon isn't a visionary and a genius." What Happens Next Real Time with Bill Maher airs Fridays on HBO at 10 p.m. ET.

Fetterman hypes Israel's ‘opportunity' against Iran, blasts Dems that have ‘taken side with the regime'
Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman knocked the left wing of his party that's turned against Israel – and underscored the stakes of the Jewish state's 'once in a generation opportunity' to take on Iran. 'There's no war crimes. This just was an existential war. You can never rebuild Gaza — would you have to rebuild Gaza — if Hamas is allowed to be in force?' Fetterman (D-Pa.) told 'Real Time With Bill Maher' on Friday. 'I think that's really the truth. And our party, the Democratic Party, has lost that argument, and they've taken side with the regime that doesn't have the kind of values and live the kind of ways that we want here in our country.' The Keystone State senator has previously groused that the pro-Israel faction of the Democratic Party has 'lost the argument' in elements of his party. On late Thursday, US time, Israel fired off pre-emptive strikes on Iran, taking out some of the theocratic regime's top scientists, military brass, nuclear facilities and rocket capabilities. 4 Sen. John Fetterman hasn't been shy about speaking his mind on issues regardless of the political consequences. Youtube/ Real Time with Bill Maher 4 Israel and Iran have exchanged fire following the preemptive strikes on the theocratic regime earlier this week. AFP via Getty Images Iran is still widely believed to have retained critical nuclear infrastructure, such as its infamous Fordo site, which is buried deep underground. The regime has also since fired back at Israel, shooting ballistic missiles into the heart of Tel Aviv and elsewhere. Israel accused Iran of pursuing nuclear weapons — something Iran has denied. The Trump administration had been negotiating a nuclear deal with Iran, with another set of talks expected to take place Sunday, before getting canceled due to the attacks. 'We really have to fully support them taking out Iran at this point. We can't ever allow Iran to develop a nuclear weapon,' the Keystone State senator told Bill Maher. 'After Israel was able to destroy the proxies like Hezbollah and Hamas as well too. They have a really, once-in-a-generation opportunity to take the nuclear facilities out.' 4 Iran has proven its ability to overwhelm Israel's missile defense capabilities. REUTERS Israel's preemptive attacks against Iran come against the backdrop of the regime's proxy forces in the region taking a massive hit. Israel had launched an explosive pager attack against scores of Hezbollah operatives last year, dramatically weakening the Lebanese terror group. Its operations in the Gaza Strip have dramatically eroded Hamas' capabilities. Then, late last year, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa's forces overthrew the Assad regime. Fetterman ripped into progressive critics of Israel for making incendiary claims about the Jewish state's military campaign in the region. 'I don't believe Israel has occurred [sic] any kind of war crimes. And then I also think we've seen a lot of language has been cheapened as well, too. There was never a genocide,' Fetterman said. 'People are putting Israel to a double standard now.' Maher, who has a knack for punching at the left despite his liberal politics, has been a fan of Fetterman and even floated him for president. Fetterman had been a darling of the progressive movement in 2022 when he dispatched Dr. Mehmet Oz during their battle to succeed former Sen. Pat Toomey. He was the only Democrat to flip a Senate seat blue that cycle and made a name for himself with a snappy online campaign while recovering from a stroke. 4 Bill Maher has been a fan of Sen. John Fetterman. Youtube/ Real Time with Bill Maher Since then, the progressive flank of his party has soured on him over his support for Israel and, to a lesser extent, his push for bolstered border security. 'Parts of my party just want to turn me into a Colonel Kurtz,' Fetterman quipped. 'That's what happened after Israel and the border, and some of the times I might have to disagree with my party.' Still, Fetterman underscored that he is still a Democrat and disagrees with many of President Trump's top agenda items, such as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. 'I'm never going to be a part of the 40 trillion club, and now that's going to push our debt up to $40 trillion, I mean, it's incredibly dangerous,' Fetterman said, also noting his staunch opposition to Medicaid cuts. 'A lot of the things that have been happening since Trump took the office, a lot of it's professional wrestling,' he quipped. 'But for this, if they pass … the big, beautiful bill, that will change our nation, and that's going to impact, truly impact millions and millions of people.'
