Country star Eric Church has completed an awe-inspiring three-night run at Red Rocks in Colorado. How to prepare for severe weather at Red Rocks concerts

DENVER (KDVR) — Summer in Colorado means more nights outside, along with more chances for severe weather that could impact plans. The weather can change quickly, even after clear blue skies — Coloradans may have little warning for when severe weather may bring gusty winds and hail. Red Rocks geology: How the world's only acoustically perfect natural amphitheater was formed FOX31 asked viewers what tips they have for concertgoers to make the best of their experience at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, and many mentioned preparing for various types of weather. Viewers recommend wearing layers as it gets cool once the sun sets, and bringing weather gear like a poncho in case it rains, as umbrellas are not allowed in the venue. Concertgoers should also prepare for the chance of hail. Viewers recommend bringing some kind of coverage like a blanket or a tarp; however, according to the Red Rocks website, items like large blankets and tarps are prohibited and will not be allowed past security. A spokesperson for Denver Arts and Venues explained that this is a common rule at many outdoor venues because fans use them to take up more space than is practical. Full list of concerts at Red Rocks in 2025 Instead, the spokesperson told FOX31 that the best protection for concertgoers is some form of shelter and offered the following statement: 'As with all other Denver venues, when a venue's security team directs fans to seek shelter, fans should do it — in buildings and, at Red Rocks, cars if accessible. The venue's Rave system (opt-in info texts for fans attending specific shows) provides fans with updates, alerts and re-entry information. At all outdoor venues, the best protection is shelter — not tarps, blankets or rain gear. Follow security's direction,' the spokesperson wrote in an email. When severe weather is incoming at Red Rocks, attendees are warned to take shelter. The screens will display a message warning attendees of the incoming conditions. Red Rocks explains how it warns people of severe weather Concertgoers are advised to head back to their vehicles for shelter; however, the trek can be a long one, depending on where they park. Attendees can also seek shelter at places like the Visitor Center and restrooms. Fans should keep their ticket stub with them for re-entry once an all-clear is issued. Hail coming down at Red Rocks resulted in dozens of injuries at a concert a couple of years ago. Attendees described hail coming 'out of nowhere,' sending fans running for shelter. Once the storm passed, an estimated 80 to 90 people were reportedly hurt, with seven hospitalized. Injuries included cuts and broken bones. The venue said it displayed warnings on the screens; however, attendees remained in the venue. Fans are encouraged to know where the closest exit or shelter is, stay updated on the Denver weather forecast and pay attention to warnings. The Red Rocks website also recommends preparing for adverse weather conditions, including full exposure to the sun, strong wind, severe rain or snow. Tuesday is a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day as gusty winds and hail are possible along the Front Range and Eastern Plains. Pinpoint Weather Chief Meteorologist Dave Fraser said storms should be east of Interstate 25 by 5 or 6 p.m. and will move out to the plains by 7 p.m., so the threat for storms at Red Rocks and during the Rockies game is expected to be gone, other than a trailing showers early in the evening. Watch: Bears join humans waiting outside Colorado concert venue

July 11 (UPI) -- A pair of bears with an apparent taste for live music joined the crowds of people waiting to get into a concert at Colorado's iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater. Fans waiting to get into the Russ show featuring Big Sean and Sabrina Claudio -- appropriately part of the Into the W!ld Tour 2025 -- spotted the two playful bruins lingering outside the venue in Morrison. Red Rocks employee Jon Amundson snapped a photo of the one of the bears walking around a corner toward a line of people waiting to get inside. Amundson said the bears did not act aggressive or threatening. "They were very relaxed, not skittish. Very playful with each other," he told McClatchy News. "They walked across the road, didn't run. As you can see all the people in the background didn't seem to bother the bears too much. It was an awesome sight that's for sure." Another visitor captured video of the bears on a nearby trail. Amundson said it was the first time he had spotted a bear at the venue. "As an outdoor venue surrounded by parklands and trails, we host fans of all species year-round. Never approach wildlife, and ask for one of our park rangers if you need assistance," Red Rocks officials wrote on the venue's official Instagram page.

I grew up in Boston and moved across the country for a change. Now, reaching my 30s, I can't wait to go back home.

I lived in Boston my whole life, so when my best friend asked me if I wanted to move to Denver in 2020 to live with her, I jumped at the chance to experience a new place. It's always been my fear that I would end up as a "townie" and only ever live in Boston. However, after living in Denver and now Seattle, I'm realizing as I get older that I want to be closer to my family and friends, most of whom are on the East Coast. Leaving Boston made me realize where I truly belong After four years in Denver, I missed the rain and the ocean, but I wasn't ready to call it quits and return to the East Coast, yet. My fiancé and I moved to Seattle about six months ago seeking a fresh atmosphere. I was beyond ecstatic for the new destination. However, ever since the move, I find myself with gut-wrenching homesickness as I approach my 30s. I'm thinking about having kids. I'm thinking about my parents getting older. I'm thinking about my 6-month-old nephew whom I've only seen twice. I've fallen in love with Seattle, but am already planning my exit When I started moving around and exploring, I thought I was looking for that perfect place to settle down and call home. It turns out I was just gathering life lessons and finding new reasons to appreciate where I grew up. Now, I know for sure that back home in Boston is where I want to plant my roots. These feelings are tough for me. I basically just got to Seattle, and want to stay at least a few years to indulge in the Pacific Northwest and give the city the chance it deserves, but my heart is already set on leaving. My Boston-born fiancé feels the same. In the months I've been here, I've found plenty of reasons to adore Seattle. The fresh seafood, the bustle of Pike Place Market, and the panoramic views of Mount Rainier all make the city special. Whether it's a grungy music show at a local bar or a vibrant Seattle Mariners game, the culture here is passionate and authentic. However, for me, it's not home. The idea of being so far from my parents as they get older, only ever seeing my best friends once a year with a $500 plane ticket, and trying to raise a child 3,000 miles from my family feels sad and infeasible. There's something about every city I'll miss I'm glad I've escaped the "townie" title and experienced places outside my comfort zone. Moving across the country has been liberating, and I'll forever miss things like the Nepalese restaurant just outside Denver, and the pebbly beach in West Seattle where the love of my life proposed to me. I'll miss the blue Rocky Mountains being the backdrop for everything in Colorado, and I'll miss the lush Washington forests with moss-covered trees. I reminisce about Red Rocks concerts as much as I do Red Sox games. I'm proud of myself for trying something new. If I'd never left Boston, I think I'd be full of resentment toward myself and the city. All I feel now is a sweet homesickness that affirms it's where I'm meant to be. Denver and Seattle are breathtakingly beautiful places with unique energy, but nothing quite soothes my soul like the quaint and often rugged atmosphere of New England. That East Coast character is a part of who I am, but I'll carry pieces of Denver and Seattle for the rest of my days. Namely, my goofy dog was born and adopted in Denver, and she'll always be my favorite souvenir from that city. We're looking forward to returning to a life of lobster rolls and Dunkin' coffees, but for now, we'll bask in the rainy Seattle days and succulent Dungeness crab a little longer.
