Orlando Pirates news: MTN8 blow, transfer pressure builds
Orlando Pirates fans will be feeling unsettled following Abdeslam Ouaddou's comments regarding the squad's current injury status ahead of their MTN8 quarter-final clash against Polokwane City. 'It is expected that there will be some minor injuries and swelling in various players since football is played by young men,' Abdeslam Ouaddou told Isolezwe. The coach left out the names of the individuals he was referring to, but evidently alluded to the fact that several players are expected to be out of the running for their cup clash in over two week's time. Dutch giants PSV have upped the ante in their pursuit for Relebohile Mofokeng, reportedly tabling an offer in the region of around R100 million. 'R100 million is like a round figure. It's more than that! The amount they were negotiating for was initially R120 million,' an inside source revealed. 'You know it's not exactly what you want that you get, and that's why they are talking about the R100 million, but it's believed to be more than that.' An big-money move seems inevitable for the Orlando Pirates superstar – however, whether it happens this offseason or next is yet to be seen. What we do know is that his father, Sechaba, wants a move to happen before this upcoming season. 'My biggest wish is to see Rele overseas in 2025/2026. I'm praying every day. I don't want to see him in the Betway Premiership again this season. I know God will answer my prayers,' Sechaba Mofokeng said. '[Whether it's in] Spain, England, Netherlands, France, Denmark, Switzerland — Rele can play. I believe that with all my heart. Take him to Barcelona? He can play. PSG? He can play. Any country. I'll be happy — but not Saudi Arabia,' he added. 'Not yet. He's still young. He needs to compete in UEFA competitions. If he goes to Saudi now, he won't experience that. Yes, he'd be rich — but happiness is more important. You can have all the money in the world, but if you're not happy, it's worthless.' Orlando Pirates news: Summer rebuild, transfer battle heats up
Orlando Pirates confirmed the signing of Polokwane City's Oswin Appollis last week, a move that has intensified speculation about Relebohile Mofokeng's future. With clubs across the globe circling, it's starting to feel like a matter of 'when' rather than 'if' for the young star. Late last year Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos predicted that the 2024/25 campaign would be Mofokeng's last with Orlando Pirates, a belief that the player's father hopes will become reality. 'My biggest wish is to see Rele overseas in 2025/2026. I'm praying every day. I don't want to see him in the Betway Premiership again this season. I know God will answer my prayers,' Sechaba said. [Whether it's in] Spain, England, Netherlands, France, Denmark, Switzerland — Rele can play. I believe that with all my heart. Take him to Barcelona? He can play. PSG? He can play. Any country. I'll be happy — but not Saudi Arabia,' say's the Orlando Pirates' player's father. 'Not yet. He's still young. He needs to compete in UEFA competitions. If he goes to Saudi now, he won't experience that. Yes, he'd be rich — but happiness is more important. You can have all the money in the world, but if you're not happy, it's worthless.' At the same time, Orlando Pirates are reportedly in a tug-of-war with Kaizer Chiefs for Neo Rapoo. The SuperSport full-back has impressed at youth level and is now seen as one of the most promising defensive prospects in the country. It's unclear where he'll end up — but if Mofokeng leaves and Rapoo joins, it's clear the Buccaneers are planning for the next generation. PSL transfer news: Lucas Ribeiro hints Brazil move, Mofokeng exit
PSL fans still have just under two months to wait until they see their favourite players grace the pitch in a season which promises to deliver fireworks. Orlando Pirates were hot on Mamelodi Sundowns' heels last season, but tapered off towards the end. This offseason, they have already brought in 10 recruits, including established PSL stars Oswin Appollis and Tshepang Moremi. Their arrivals would make the departure of Relebohile Mofokeng a lighter pill to swallow. The 20-year-old phenom has several clubs, from FC Cincinnati to Ah Ahly, vying for his services, fuelling speculation of an offseason exit; a notion further solidified by his father, who has urged the Pirates winger to flock the PSL. Mamelodi Sundowns celebrate a result. Could a PSL exit be looming for the league's top goalscorer? 'You know that we, players, support the team we play for, but I have always supported Palmeiras,' said Ribeiro Costa. 'I've always been a big fan because of my father. He loves Palmeiras a lot and has always made me follow him since I was little. But we, professional players, have always loved the club we are playing for, too.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Orlando Pirates news: Kaizer Chiefs sniped, R10 million midfielder
Orlando Pirates have yet again beaten Kaizer Chiefs to a prized player. This time it's Polokwane City winger Oswin Appollis. Both clubs tried to sign the 23-year-old in January and last offseason but were met with rejection on both occasions as Appollis continued to prove himself as one of South Africa's best. The second half of last season saw a decline in performance, and it is perhaps because of this why Rise and Shine were willing to let their main man go. According to reports, Orlando Pirates eyeing JS Kabylie midfielder Sadio Kanoute. 'According to Africafoot , the Soweto giants are considering tabling an offer in the region of €500,000 (approximately R10 million) to lure Kanoute, who previously turned out for Simba SC in Tanzania,' a SoccerLaduma report revealed. In other news, there is growing concern that Orlando Pirates may see their golden boy Relebohile Mofokeng leave this winter. 'My biggest wish is to see Rele overseas in 2025/2026. I'm praying every day. I don't want to see him in the Betway Premiership again this season. I know God will answer my prayers,' Sechaba said '[Whether it's in] Spain, England, Netherlands, France, Denmark, Switzerland — Rele can play. I believe that with all my heart. Take him to Barcelona? Orlando Pirates news: Moremi, Kwayiba, Mofokeng, Saleng
Orlando Pirates have already confirmed eight signings – and it's not even July. AmaZulu FC winger Tshepang Moremi and Stellenbosch midfielder Sihle Nduli, along with Sinoxolo Kwayiba, Yanela Mbuthuma, Masindi Nemtajela, Sipho Mbule, Tshepo Mashiloane, and Nkosikhona Ndaba will report for duty on July 1. Each player is a star in their own right, signifying a remarkable seven-player haul by the Buccaneers, who are desperate to end Mamelodi Sundowns' eight-year PSL reign. Regarding sour news, it appears that Monnapule Saleng and Relebohile Mofokeng could both be heading in different directions this offseason, but for differing reasons. The former player hasn't featured since December 7, amid salary demands that the club was unwilling to meet. Meanwhile, Mofokeng has several clubs interested, from MLS side FC Cincinnati to Egyptian giants Al Ahly. However, the player's father believes his next destination should be Europe. 'My biggest wish is to see Rele overseas in 2025/2026. I'm praying every day. I don't want to see him in the Betway Premiership again this season. I know God will answer my prayers,' said the Orlando Pirates' player's father, Sechaba. '[Whether it's in] Spain, England, Netherlands, France, Denmark, Switzerland — Rele can play.
