Orlando Pirates news: Kaizer Chiefs sniped, R10 million midfielder
Both clubs tried to sign the 23-year-old in January and last offseason but were met with rejection on both occasions as Appollis continued to prove himself as one of South Africa's best.
The second half of last season saw a decline in performance, and it is perhaps because of this why Rise and Shine were willing to let their main man go.
According to reports, Orlando Pirates eyeing JS Kabylie midfielder Sadio Kanoute.
'According to Africafoot , the Soweto giants are considering tabling an offer in the region of €500,000 (approximately R10 million) to lure Kanoute, who previously turned out for Simba SC in Tanzania,' a SoccerLaduma report revealed.
In other news, there is growing concern that Orlando Pirates may see their golden boy Relebohile Mofokeng leave this winter.
'My biggest wish is to see Rele overseas in 2025/2026. I'm praying every day. I don't want to see him in the Betway Premiership again this season. I know God will answer my prayers,' Sechaba said
'[Whether it's in] Spain, England, Netherlands, France, Denmark, Switzerland — Rele can play. I believe that with all my heart. Take him to Barcelona? He can play. PSG? He can play. Any country. I'll be happy — but not Saudi Arabia,' he added.
'Not yet. He's still young. He needs to compete in UEFA competitions. If he goes to Saudi now, he won't experience that. Yes, he'd be rich — but happiness is more important. You can have all the money in the world, but if you're not happy, it's worthless.'

REVEALED: Why Kaizer Chiefs can win battle for CT Spurs duo!
Kaizer Chiefs have found themselves in a predicament with regards to an attempt to sign a promising young duo. Chiefs are believed to have agreed terms with Cape Town Spurs duo Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman but with complications. The two players were part of the Spurs side that suffered a double relegation in the past two seasons. Both Velebayi and Baartman were seen as promising youngsters and assets to the club after tasting topflight football. Despite attracting a lot of interest upon the first relegation of the Urban Warriors, the duo went down with them to the NFD. Now Chiefs have opportunistically pounced on them. Chiefs were also embroiled in a transfer saga with Spurs for Velebayi in the close season transfer window. The player was reportedly desperate to join Amakhosi last season with the club making several bids. In the end, the Urban Warriors held their ground, demanding R10 million for his services. With the side being relegated to the amateur ranks, under NSL rules, both he and Baartman should be free agents. As Chiefs looked to take advantage of that rule, Spurs have threatened legal. This if Velebayi and Baartman end up joining the Glamour Boys while still having what they feel is a valid contract with them. In fact, the Cape Town side have ordered the duo to report for training. But according to the NSL ruling, Velebayi and Baartman are legally free agents. Even if Spurs were to acquire a professional status, they would not be allowed to change that. This means it is advantage Chiefs. 'Rule 4.3.1.4, in the NSL handbook states; a player may apply to the dispute resolution chamber (DRC) to be declared a free agent in the event of the member club ceasing to exist as a member club falling under the jurisdiction of the NSL rules also state the entity which is the current club and its members current directors cannot within 12 months buy another franchise, which is likely the attempt of the club with keep hold of their key players. Should a potential status purchase transpire – this new entity – under new new directors – would contractually have no hold on the current players.' iDiski Times states. Chiefs fans are you now optimistic that your club will legally win the battle to sign Velebayi and Baartman? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab. BREAKING: FIFTH player leaves Kaizer Chiefs!
Kaizer Chiefs are busy finalising their squad for next season with both incomings and outgoings being the focus. Chiefs have already announced a balanced five incomings and four outgoings so far ahead of their pre-season. So far, Chiefs have confirmed the exits of Sabelo Radebe, Ranga Chivaviro, Edmilson Dove and Mduduzi Mdantsane. Radebe was highly rated during his youth days at the club, captaining their DDC side before promotion. He failed to stamp his authority in the senior team and was eventually sent on loan before being shipped out. Chivaviro, Dove and Mdantsane all failed to have lasting impressions on the club and have been released. In terms of incomings, Chiefs announced the signings of Nkanyiso Shinga, Flavio Silva and Ethan Chislett earlier this week. They then added the former Orlando Pirates duo of Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane. They were already one of the worst kept secrets having reportedly been the first to sign deals. It is believed that another ex-Buccaneer will soon be unveiled as Khosified. That being Siphesihle Ndlovu who joins from the now defunct SuperSport United. Now the signing of Ndlovu could have already had a domino effect. According to FARPost , Venezuelan midfielder Edson Castillo has left Chiefs by mutual consent. 'Edson Castillo has parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs following a mutual agreement between the club and the player to terminate his contract. The Venezuelan winger was not among the players who travelled to the Netherlands on Thursday night for the pre-season tour, which will last for the next two weeks. With the recent signing of SuperSport United star Siphesihle Ndlovu, the club has terminated his contract. Castillo is exploring new opportunities, with his representatives actively seeking a club for him in the off-season.' Wrote the publication. Chiefs fans, how do you feel about the release of Castillo? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab. Or by emailing info@ or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Breaking: Kaizer Chiefs part ways with fan favourite
Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly parted ways with Venezuelan midfielder Edson Castillo. According to FARPost , the two parties decided to separate following a mutual agreement to terminate the player's contract. The 31-year-old midfielder was not among the players who travelled to the Netherlands on Thursday night for the pre-season tour. Castillo arrived at Naturena in 2023 under coach Molefi Ntseki, where he impressed and became a fan favourite. In his debut season, he scored five times in 32 appearances; however, that was overshadowed by Amakhosi's poor season. Last season, Castillo only made seven appearances for Kaizer Chiefs after suffering a fractured fibula for the majority of the season. FARPost reported that the midfielder recently signed a one-year extension with an option to renew, but failed to impress the technical team. Castillo now becomes the seventh Kaizer Chiefs player to be released in a couple of weeks. So far, the club has parted ways with Njabulo Blom, Ranga Chivaviro, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Sabelo Radebe, Bongani Sam and Edmilson Dove. Amakhosi have signed striker Flavio Silva, midfielder Ethan Chislett, and left-backs Nkanyiso Shinga. The three players were announced last week. On Thursday, Kaizer Chiefs confirmed that the former Orlando Pirates duo of Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane had joined the club.
