Gambhira Bridge Collapse: Check Alternate Routes As Connectivity Between Anand & Vadodara Disrupted
A vital link between Central Gujarat and Saurashtra is down—here's how to navigate the chaos and reach your destination. In the early hours of 8 July 2025, the decades-old Gambhira Bridge over the Mahisagar River near Mujpur village in Padra taluka collapsed without warning. Four vehicles—two trucks, a Bolero SUV, and a pickup van—plunged into the river, causing tragic casualties, as per Republic World. #WATCH | Vadodara, Gujarat | The Gambhira bridge on the Mahisagar river, connecting Vadodara and Anand, collapses in Padra; local administration present at the spot. — ANI (@ANI) July 9, 2025 For over 40 years, this bridge had served as the main corridor connecting Vadodara, Anand, Bharuch, and further towards Saurashtra. Although the bridge underwent repair work costing approximately Rs 1.75 crore in 2019–20, local reports had long highlighted its poor maintenance and dilapidated state. Now, thousands of commuters, farmers, and traders are struggling to reroute their journeys. When Was It Built? While there are no official records about the original year of construction, local sources say the bridge had been in use for over four decades. It was widely described as being in a dilapidated condition, raising questions about the urgency and extent of its upkeep. What Did It Cost? In late 2019 or early 2020, the District Roads & Buildings Department carried out repair and resurfacing work on the bridge and its approach roads. This project cost around Rs 1.75 crore (~Rs 17.5 million). The original construction cost remains undocumented but is believed to have been significantly higher. Its collapse has not only disrupted lives but increased travel times by 2x to 3x for nearby villages. Alternate Route 1: Via Ahmedabad–Vadodara Expressway (E-way) Best suited for: Trucks, buses, and long-distance travellers Route: Two-wheelers are not permitted on the expressway. Expect queues at toll plazas during peak hours. Alternate Route 2: Local State Highway via Gotri and Chhani Best suited for: Motorcycles, light vehicles, and daily commuters. Drive from Padra through Gotri. Pass Airport Circle and continue towards Chhani and Nizampura. Finally, reach the Amit Nagar area, which connects to central Vadodara. What Should Commuters Keep in Mind? Emergency vehicles are advised to take the expressway via Anand for quicker hospital access. Commercial transporters should stick to the expressway for smoother freight movement. Daily commuters and bikers should opt for the Gotri–Chhani–Amit Nagar stretch. Monitor Vadodara city traffic updates for any new closures or diversions. Plan extra time—whichever route you choose, expect delays due to rerouting and increased traffic volumes. The Gambhira Bridge collapse has created a massive dent in Gujarat's transport ecosystem. Until a permanent solution or temporary bridge is built, these two routes will be the lifeline for thousands. Whether you're a farmer, worker, student, or trader, knowing the best way around the disruption can save you hours. Ram Kapoor walks back comments about having enough money to support four generations, but says Sakshi Tanwar and Ronit Roy do
Television actor Ram Kapoor had earlier admitted that top TV actors like him, Ronit Roy and Sakhshi Tanwar, have earned enough money to take care of the next four generations of their family. Now, in a recent conversation, Ram clarified his statement and reiterated that only if TV actors invest wisely can they truly save a substantial amount of money. Speaking to Republic World, Ram said, 'The question was how much TV actors can make, and I found that question very vague. Then he asked who do you consider in the same league as you and I answered Sakshi Tanwar and Ronit Roy.' He added, 'Then he asked about how much can you three people make? Then I answered that if you are in the top level of the television industry, if you are the top actor of the television industry and if you are a wise investor, then you can make a lot of money to take care of the next four generations. Like Ronit and Sakshi has 100 percent done.' Ram refuted claims that he has earned money to support the next four generations, but explained that some top television actors have managed to do so by investing wisely from the beginning of their careers. He said, 'TV is different than film. When you do a film, you might not get a film for the next two years, but in television, if you have a hit show, it is going to last for 3-4 years. Sakshi's show Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki lasted for eight years. Now when you know making that kind of money every month for eight years, it is a very very big amount. And if you invest that money wisely from the very beginning, then by the time your career is towards its end, you will have enough money for everything that you need, but the bottom thing is, if you don't invest in if you keep spending that money, then no amount is enough.' In an interview with Humans of Bombay recently, Ram Kapoor had said, 'It is not that television actors make as much as film actors. But if you have a hit show which lasts for 7-8 years and if you are at the top of television or making a lot of money, your per month cheque is equal to your salary for 8 years. People like me, Sakshi and Ronit, if you have been on television for 20 years and are sensible then you have made enough for at least 3-4 generations.' Ram Kapoor was one of the highest-paid television actors in India. He became a household name through popular shows like Kasamh Se, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Kehta Hai Dil, and more. He has also appeared in several films, including Student of the Year, Agent Vinod, Udaan, and others.

Ram Kapoor says he would have ‘1000% taken Mounjaro' but met with a ‘huge accident': ‘People take antibiotics when ill, how is this different?'
Ram Kapoor's drastic 55 kg weight loss transformation has become the talk of the town. The actor has been under scrutiny, with reports suggesting he used weight loss drugs such as Ozempic and Mounjaro. However, he has denied these claims multiple times. In a recent interview, Ram addressed the matter and questioned the negativity around the usage of such drugs. He also revealed he was ready to take Mounjaro as advised by his doctor but fate came in the way. During a conversation with Republic World, he said, 'Even if I have taken it, what's negative about it? Nobody is answering me this, galat kya kia hai agar kisi aadmi ne liya bhi hai? Everyone becomes silent because there is no answer for this. Ozempic, Mounjaro, whoever has taken these, what wrong have they done?' Clearly denying the usage himself, Ram asserted, 'I have not taken it. I was recommended Mounjaro, which came after Ozempic. When I was shooting for Neeyat with Vidya Balan in Scotland, I was at my most unhealthy state. I was big, at 140 kgs. I was taking insulin three times before every meal, my sugar was out of control, I was working overtime, no rest, my blood pressure, everything was unhealthy at that point of time.' The actor's health became a huge concern, after which his family doctor recommended the drug to him. 'My doctor told me that if you are this unhealthy and you are working this much, you can have a diabetic stroke. You will have to slow down. I said that I can't, I have two more projects to finish. After 6-8 months, maybe I can take a break. He then said that I am in a very big danger, I have to start something extreme to get yourself in control,' he revealed. ALSO READ | Ram Kapoor says he 'didn't have long to live' had he continued like he used to, doctor told him 'tu mar jayega' Ram Kapoor continued, 'He said everyone is taking Ozempic, but there's a new drug Mounjaro, listen to me and try it for 3-4 months because you are at risk. I said yes, please get it for me. It takes time to import such drugs and I was in Scotland for two and a half months. The decision was taken. I trust my doctor completely, even with my children's life.' However, even after giving a nod, he couldn't take the drug as he met with a huge accident. 'Before I could start, I had a very bad accident and I ruptured my shoulder. I had stage-3 surgery. In fact, when Mistry was offered to me, I was in full sling and cast. I said that I can't work for 8-9 months because surgery had just happened, they waited for me. You have to do hardcore physiotherapy after surgery to get the strength back,' he said. The actor had to take physiotherapy sessions and practice weight training everyday. 'They asked me to stop all drugs, take full physiotherapy and weight training to get back. Instead of Mounjaro, I was forced to do weight training. During that period, I developed a habit of doing it and I immersed myself in it. That is why I am doing it now and building my body. Zaroorat nahi padi Mounjaro ki otherwise I would have taken it 1000% because my doctor said so.' Ram believes that these weight loss drugs aren't a shortcut and compared them to taking antibiotics to cure infections. 'It is given by a doctor once a week. If the doctor is asking you to take it, would you say no? It is going to make you healthier. People say that it's a shortcut, not natural. When you are sick and go to the doctor for medicine, isn't that a shortcut? If you get an infection and you go take antibiotics so that it gets better in three days, isn't that a shortcut? Your body can easily treat the infection on your own in 3-4 weeks. Ozempic and Mounjaro are the same only,' he stated firmly. When asked about Shefali Jariwala's sudden death, despite maintaining a fit and healthy lifestyle, he responded, 'It's a very sad news. But, this is not the first time. So many fit people around the world have cardiac arrest, even in the gym. It is a very common phenomenon. It's very simple, if you have a doctor whom you trust and he is asking you to eat something, you shouldn't overrule that.' On the work front, Ram Kapoor was recently seen in Jio Hotstar's show Mistry. Directed by Rishab Seth, the series also features Mona Singh, Shikha Talsania, Kshitish Date, and Namantar Rajendra.

Indian Journalist Arnab Goswami Suggests Boycotting Turkey: Pakistan Used Turkish Drones to Attempt Infiltration of India
Indian journalist Arnab Goswami said that Pakistan had used 300-400 Turkish Asisguard Songar drones to attempt to infiltrate 36 locations in Indian territory, in what he called a 'major escalation by Turkey.' Furthermore, Goswami, said that it was 'strongly suspected' that Turkish nationals had operated the drones. Speaking on 'The Debate with Arnad' on Republic TV on May 9, 2025, Goswami said that 'many people are beginning to evaluate whether we need to have any business or other connections with Turkey, whether people need to go there on holiday, whether they should support Turkish tourism, but more importantly, whether Turkish companies should be allowed to operate in India.' The program was posted on the Republic World YouTube channel. Goswami is the managing director and editor-in-chief of Republic Media Network.
