Taylor Swift reportedly paid jaw-dropping amount to buy back her masters
Taylor Swift, who became a billionaire last year, reportedly paid a jaw-dropping amount to buy back her master recordings. Sources told Billboard Friday that Shamrock Capital sold Swift's catalog to her for around $360 million, which is relatively close to what the private equity firm paid for it in 2020. Reps for the singer-songwriter did not immediately respond to Page Six's request for comment. Retired music manager Scooter Braun bought the rights to Swift's first six albums — 'Taylor Swift,' 'Fearless,' 'Speak Now,' 'Red,' '1989' and 'Reputation' — in 2019 when his company Ithica Holdings acquired her former label Big Machine Records. The following year, he sold her masters to Shamrock. 'Scooter has stripped me of my life's work, that I wasn't given an opportunity to buy,' a 'sad and grossed out' Swift lamented at the time, calling Braun a 'bully.'In 2021, the Grammy winner began re-recording and re-releasing her albums as a way of reclaiming ownership over her songs. But earlier Friday, she announced via her website that she was able to buy back all of her original music. 'I'm trying to gather my thoughts into something coherent, but right now my mind is just a slideshow,' the 35-year-old began her note, which was formatted like a handwritten letter. 'A flashback sequence of all the time I daydreamed about, wished for, and pined away for a chance to get to tell this news. All the times I was thiiiiiiiiiiis close, reaching out for it, only for it to fall through.' Swift admitted that she 'almost stopped thinking it could ever happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away. But that's all in the past now.' She marveled, 'I've been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found out that this is really happening. I really get to say these words: All of the music I've ever made … now belongs … to me.' As for her highly anticipated 'Reputation (Taylor's Version)' album — one of the two she has yet to re-release — the pop superstar confessed to her fans that she hasn't 'even re-recorded a quarter of it.' However, she did note that 'Reputation (Taylor's Version)' and her self-titled debut album 'can still have their moment to re-emerge when the time is right.' Shortly after Swift's big announcement, Braun, 43, told Page Six he's 'happy for her.'

The 25 best songs of 2025 so far
As we approach the halfway mark of 2025, among the things we have yet to find out are how many weeks Morgan Wallen's 'I'm the Problem' will spend at No. 1, when Lana Del Rey's supposed country album might actually drop and whether Taylor Swift was setting us up by suggesting she's unsure about completing 'Reputation (Taylor's Version).' What we do know is that Drake is not over and that Miley Cyrus is now better at making ABBA music than ABBA. Here, in alphabetical order by act's name, are tunes by the two of them along with 23 more of the best songs of 2025 so far (including a few that came out late last year but didn't achieve true liftoff until more recently). Scroll down to the bottom for a Spotify playlist that collects them all. Bad Bunny, 'Baile Inolvidable'The year's most widely heard piano solo? BigXthaPlug featuring Bailey Zimmerman, 'All the Way'A casually inevitable country-rap banger. Blondshell, 'What's Fair'In which a daughter poses the questions she never could ask her late mother. Bon Iver, 'From'Can we talk about vocal arranging? Caroline with Caroline Polachek, 'Tell Me I Never Knew That'For those old enough, a welcome reminder of Chicago's Joan of Arc. Sabrina Carpenter, 'Manchild''Why so sexy if so dumb / And how survive the Earth so long?' Charley Crockett, 'Lonesome Drifter'South Texas country meets South Memphis soul. Miley Cyrus, 'End of the World'As alt-rock collaborators go, Alvvays is a vast improvement over the Flaming Lips. Lucy Dacus, 'Best Guess'The unhurried tempo makes it only friskier. Damiano David, 'Zombie Lady'A key change to un-die for. Drake, 'Nokia'Ten years (and one career-shaking rap beef) after 'Hotline Bling,' Drake is once again pondering who's calling him on his cellphone in this sneaky comeback(?) hit. Sam Fender, 'Arm's Length'An extremely sensual soul-rock song about wanting not to be touched. Florence Road, 'Caterpillar'Here's where the story starts. Haim, 'Relationships'The L.A. power trio goes R&B girl group. Lady Gaga featuring Gesaffelstein, 'Killah'What you need you have to borrow. Kendrick Lamar with SZA, 'Luther'After 13 weeks at No. 1, this tender little love song still hasn't hardened. Parker McCollum, 'What Kinda Man'Flirty, rowdy, sly. Jensen McRae, 'Let Me Be Wrong'A type A can dream. Playboi Carti, 'Cocaine Nose'Scuzzy yet plush. Chappell Roan, 'The Giver'Man! She feels like satisfying a woman! Sleep Token, 'Caramel''Bohemian Rhapsody' for metalheads into 'Black Mirror.' SZA, 'Crybaby''I know you told stories about me / Most of them awful, all of them true.' Zach Top, 'Good Times & Tan Lines'As crisp as country music gets. Morgan Wallen, 'TN'Nashville's saddest superstar keeps finding new ways to feel sorry for himself. Lola Young, 'Messy'From the nation — not to mention the performing arts academy — that brought you 'Rehab' comes another instant classic of saucy throwback soul.

Taylor Swift had built enough and more anticipation about announcing 'Reputation (Taylor's Version) at the AMAs 2025. However, it all came crashing down when the singer didn't make it to the award show despite receiving six nominations. Surprisingly, the pop star walked away empty-handed after receiving nods for 'Artist of the Year,' 'Favorite Female Pop Artist,' 'Album of the Year,' 'Favorite Pop Album,' and more. Her no-show at the event, coupled with the snub, shocked her fanbase. Although this year's AMAs didn't work in her favor, Taylor Swift is reportedly teasing a hopeful future concerning her career plans. The source also hinted that the new music could potentially make her future wins 'inevitable.' The source revealed that the 'Cruel Summer' singer was happy for Eilish's big wins at the event. The insider also shared that Swift 'does not need awards to know how talented and loved she is.' No more Reputation Taylor's Version—Taylor Swift backs away from ‘Reputation' re-recording, fans accuse her of stalling
Taylor Swift has revealed the delay of 'Reputation (Taylor's Version) (Getty Images) Taylor Swift has finally confessed why Reputation (Taylor's Version) is nowhere in sight — and her reasons are stirring debate. In a surprising admission, she revealed she's barely started the re-recording, calling the album too raw to revisit. Swifties are split: is it artistic integrity, or emotional avoidance? Taylor Swift opens up about delay in 'Reputation (Taylor's Version)' and shares update on debut album re-recording Taylor Swift has finally broken her silence about the much-anticipated Reputation (Taylor's Version) — and her reasons for the delay are more personal than fans might have expected. In a heartfelt letter to her fans released on May 30, Swift shared a major milestone in her music career: she now owns all of her recordings after buying them back from Shamrock Capital. 'I can't thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but never owned until now,' she wrote, celebrating her long-fought battle for artistic ownership. Why Reputation TV hasn't dropped yet — and it's not what fans expected For fans eagerly awaiting Reputation (Taylor's Version), Swift offered full transparency: 'I haven't even re-recorded a quarter of it.' She admitted that revisiting the emotional weight behind her 2017 album has been challenging. 'The Reputation album was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it,' she explained. Swift went on to say, 'To be perfectly honest, it's the one album in those first 6 that I thought couldn't be improved upon by redoing it. Not the music, or photos, or videos. So I kept putting it off.' This confession puts the brakes on fan theories about an imminent 'Debutation' — a term coined by Swifties for the joint release of Reputation TV and Taylor Swift TV, her debut album re-recording. While neither release appears to be coming soon, Swift did confirm that her debut album is fully re-recorded and 'I really love how it sounds now.' A vault full of promise and a shift in tone moving forward Swift teased that unreleased vault tracks from Reputation may still see the light of day: 'There will be a time (if you're into the idea) for the unreleased Vault tracks from that album to hatch.' But this time, she emphasizes, any release won't come from a place of longing or sadness. 'It will just be a celebration now.' Her journey has already changed the music industry, inspiring artists to push for ownership of their masters. 'Every time a new artist tells me they negotiated to own their master recordings... I'm reminded of how important it was for all of this to happen.' Also Read: Taylor Swift ditches Travis Kelce for glamorous solo night out in NYC — is trouble brewing before the ring? Taylor Swift's artistic autonomy marks not just a win for her, but a cultural shift in music ownership — one that continues to unfold, even if Reputation has to wait a little longer.
