Who is Wimbledon presenter Rishi Persad?
OVER the years Rishi Persad has managed to forge a very successful career as a sports presenter. Thanks to this, he has been able to cover some of the biggest sporting events in the world - which includes Wimbledon and the Cheltenham Festival. Who is Rishi Persad? Rishi Persad was born on May 25, 1974 and was raised on the Caribbean island Trinidad as a keen horse racing and cricket fan. His parents are of Indian descent, with his mother being a bank manager, while his father earned his living as a lawyer. The family bred horses as a side hobby which is how Persad grew his passion for racing. By the age of 12 he moved to Britain, and attended boarding school. After this he went onto secure a law degree from King's College London. 3 However, Persad realised he had a gift for broadcasting, and switched to presenting. His career began in 2002 when he joined At the Races - a show dedicated to horse racing now known as Sky Sports Racing. This was followed by a transition to Channel 4 in 2003 where he made his debut on a winning coverage panel for Cheltenham Festival. And since then, he has travelled across the globe covering a range of sports for the likes of Sky Sports, ESPN, BBC and ITV. What events has Rishi Persad presented? After Rishi's successful opening act on At The Races, the broadcasting legend was recruited by the BBC. Dubai World Cup set for record-breaking global broadcast across 170 countries
The Dubai World Cup, one of the most prestigious events in international horse racing, is set to be broadcast to a record-breaking 170 countries when it takes centre stage at Meydan Racecourse on Saturday, April 5. The fixture, known as the world's most international race day, will showcase elite talent from more than a dozen nations across nine thrilling races, culminating in the $12 million Dubai World Cup (G1), sponsored by Emirates Airline. In total, a staggering $30.5 million in prize money is up for grabs. Racing TV reports that Dubai Racing Club, in collaboration with its appointed distribution and production partner, Racecourse Media Group (RMG), and agency HBA Media, has secured an unparalleled global television footprint for this year's event. RMG, alongside Timeline TV, will manage all broadcast services for Dubai Racing Club, including the highly anticipated World Feed program, fronted by renowned presenter Rishi Persad. A record 37 broadcasters have signed on to air the event live, ensuring a truly global audience. For the first time, Australia's Channel 7 will showcase the action on mainstream television, while Canada's leading sports network, Sportsnet, and India's Fancode, with its 160 million users, will bring the excitement to millions more. Other major networks featuring the Dubai World Cup include Fox Sports in the United States, ESPN/Star+ across South America, SuperSport in Africa, and top European broadcasters such as Eurovision, Viaplay, and Setanta Sports. Meanwhile, the MENA region will be served by Dubai Racing Channel, Yas TV in Abu Dhabi, and Saudi Sports Channel. In Asia, audiences can tune in via Japan's Green Channel, Fuji TV, Kansai, and NetKeiba, as well as Hong Kong's HKJC TV, Cable TV, Now TV, and TVB.
