Texas A&M receives prediction to land elite 2027 4-star QB out of Georgia
Texas A&M's quarterback future presents an interesting discussion in today's transfer portal age, as 2025 starting QB Marcel Reed will need to succeed this season to continue in his role, while the depth chart includes redshirt freshman Miles O'Neill, who looks like the next man in line if Reed fails to deliver. However, 2026 four-star commit Helaman Casuga, who was one of the top performers during On3's Elite 11 event last week, looks like the future starter after Reed and O'Neill, so looking ahead to the 2027 cycle, coach Mike Elko and OC Collin Klein have their eyes on four-star quarterback Jayce Johnson, who is one his way to becoming a five-star prospect by this time next year. After landing in his top-five program list this week, Johnson is down to Tennessee, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Florida State, and Texas A&M. According to a source, Johnson and Collin Klein have developed a strong relationship based on what the Valdosta, Georgia native could do in his offense. On Saturday, it was revealed that Rivals recruiting insider Sam Spiegelman has predicted that Texas A&M will land Jayce Johnson, who is expected to announce his commitment on August 3. This isn't a shock given the staff's closeness to his development, combined with Elko's recruiting pipeline in Georgia, which features three high-ranking 2026 commits from the Peach State. Set to enter his all-important junior season at Lowndes High School, Johnson made his mark during his 2024 sophomore season after throwing for 1,799 yards, 16 touchdowns, and three interceptions, paired with over 300 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. According to Rivals, Johnson is currently positioned as the 29th-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the 5th-ranked quarterback, and the 4th-ranked prospect in Georgia. IOL Khalief Canty commits to Missouri Tigers
IOL Khalief Canty commits to Missouri Tigers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. While many fans are spending the summer thinking about games this fall, Missouri Tigers head coach Elijah Drinkwitz and offensive line coach Brandon Jones are preparing for the upcoming season and setting the foundation for success in the future as well. Advertisement After starting the summer with just one recruit in their 2026 class, the Tigers added another to an ever-increasing group on Tuesday. Three-star interior offensive lineman Khalief Canty announced his commitment to Mizzou, as first reported by MizzouToday and Rivals. Canty made the announcement while participating in the 2025 Rivals Five-Star showcase in Indianapolis. Listed at 6'5", 305lbs, the high school standout hails from Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan. According to 247Sports' composite rating, Canty is the No. 9 high school player in the state of Michigan and the 38th ranked interior offensive lineman in the country. Advertisement Canty has impressed fans and coaches alike since his sophomore season. While only being rated as a three-star by most recruiting services, the offensive lineman received an invite to the prestigious Rival Five-Star prospect showcase. The event pits the best recruits in the upcoming class against each other and provides a good look at prospects before they hit the college ranks. Relationships play a big part in every player's recruitment, with Canty's being no exception. One of those key relationships for Canty was with third-year offensive line coach Brandon Jones. "He keeps it straight and it's all about development," Canty said of Jones to 247Sports back in April. He received offers from 20 Division I schools, including Alabama, North Carolina, Texas A&M, Tennessee and Michigan. Four-star quarterback Gavin Sidwar was the first to commit, with Mizzou securing pledges from four-star linebacker Keenan Harris, four-star wide receiver Jabari Brady, three-star tight end Isaac Jensen and three-star running back Maxwell Warner since the start of the summer.
