Sad Closures Hit Dallas's Lower Greenville in June

In a fast-paced city like Dallas, restaurants come and go all the time. Know of a Dallas restaurant closure that's not on this list? Drop us a line at dallas@ . This Lower Greenville spot will close on Sunday, June 29, and owner Rod Schaefer tells the Dallas Morning News that he is leasing the space to Goodwins owners (and neighbors) Austin Rodgers and Jeff Bekavac. Pizzeria Testa in Frisco will remain open, and Schaefer says that Rodgers and Bekavac made him an offer he couldn't refuse, meeting his criteria of having a plan he felt could work for the space and living in the community. Rodger and Bekavac remain tight-lipped about those plans. There's going to be one less tiki bar on Lower Greenville, bringing the total to a disappointing zero. Swizzle's owners announced on Instagram that the bar will close on Saturday, July 19. The business will continue as a catering company. Citing business difficulties since opening in 2020, the post suggests that customers support locally owned businesses they love. It will host a 'tiki takedown' sale on Tuesday, July 15, in which various items from the bar will be sold. The Afghan-influenced restaurant Nora, in the Bishop Arts, closed in May. In an Instagram post, its owners revealed that Nora isn't gone forever; it is just moving to a new location. More information to come on that. Patrons noticed that Peaberry's original location in Oak Cliff had a 'for lease' sign up early in June. Peaberry told the Dallas Observer that the shop's air conditioning failed, and while gathering quotes to replace it, the owners discovered deeper problems with the building. The shop was also broken into multiple times during its temporary closure. Owner Elijah Salazar confirmed to the Dallas Observer that Peaberry would reopen inside Centro Church, but those plans fell through at the last minute. On Monday, June 16, Salazar opened a pop-up called Peaberry on Ice inside Another Round, a mini golf place. It began in 1991 and is scheduled to close in 2025. Bodacious Bar-B-Q in Arlington, near AT&T Stadium, has been in its location for 34 years and will close its doors for good in August 2025. In a Facebook post, owner Fran Ruegsegger asked that, between now and the barbecue joint's closing, customers share their stories. Time for a new place to take the crown of the best chicken-fried steak in Fort Worth, because Old Neighborhood Grill has closed. The restaurant opened in 1998, and Texas Monthly lauded its breakfasts as being among the state's best in 2011. See More: Dallas Restaurant Closings
