SK Tambatuon new building project in Kota Belud launched

KOTA BELUD (July 4): Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick has launched the SK Tambatuon new building construction project here, valued at RM42 million. This project, under the Third Rolling Plan of the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (RMK-12 RP3), will replace the existing dilapidated school building and is expected to be completed within 24 months starting this month. 'I hope the project runs smoothly and is completed on schedule so that it can benefit the students and villagers who have high hopes for improved educational facilities,' he said to reporters after officiating the groundbreaking ceremony at the school construction site here today. Ewon, who is also the Kadamaian assemblyman, said that as co-chairman of the RMK-13 Project Monitoring and Coordination Intervention Committee, he is responsible for overseeing the smooth implementation of development projects funded by the Federal Government throughout Sabah. 'This is part of our mandate to ensure all projects are expedited for the benefit of the people. 'As the Kadamaian ADUN and a member of the Federal Cabinet, I will ensure that large-scale development needs are brought to this area under RMK-13, which begins next year and runs until 2030,' he added. He also stated that the Kadamaian Development Plan launched in 2020 has shown considerable progress and will continue to be enhanced. Ewon expressed his appreciation to the Education Ministry and the Kota Belud District Education Office (PPD) for their commitment to upgrading neglected schools, especially within the Kadamaian State Constituency. 'Some projects have been completed, others are ongoing, and many more will be proposed under RMK-13. I also congratulate the Sabah Public Works Department (JKR) as the implementing agency, as well as the Development Office and District Office of Kota Belud for their contributions to the district's development,' he said. Meanwhile, the Deputy District Education Officer (Planning Sector), Ishak Hj. Mohd Yusof, stated that among the facilities to be constructed at SK Tambatuon are 10 classrooms, an RBT room, science laboratory, canteen, prayer room, administration block, covered open space and a field. He also informed that schools in the Kadamaian State Constituency have received significant allocations, including completed projects such as SK Sayap, SK Tarintidon, SK Nahaba, SK Gensurai, SK Tengkurus, SK Taginambur, SK Tuguson and SK Lasau Tintapon. 'Projects currently under construction include SK Kiau 1, SK Tamu Darat, SK Kaung, SK Kebayau, SK Mengkulat, SK Melangkap, SK Tambulian, SK Kelawat and SK Tambatuon. 'Several other projects have been approved and are awaiting tender processes, such as the administration blocks at SK Taginambur and SK Dalas, additional classrooms at SMK Narinang, as well as preschools at SK Tampasuk I, SK Piasau and SK Kinasaraban,' he added. He mentioned that SK Rangalau has also received RM1 million allocation under the Renovation and Upgrading Project managed by the Sabah State Education Department. Furthermore, the Kota Belud PPD is currently applying for the construction of new schools including SMK Narinang II, SMK Arshad II, SMK Pekan III and SMK Pintasan following approval of site applications by the Kota Belud Land and Survey Department.

RM42 million SK Tambatuon construction project launched in Kota Belud
KOTA BELUD: Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Datuk Ewon Benedick has officially launched the RM42 million construction project for Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tambatuon. The new buildings, set for completion within 24 months, will replace the existing dilapidated structures and introduce modern facilities. The project, funded under the Third Rolling Plan of the 12th Malaysia Plan (MP12), includes 10 classrooms, an RBT room, a science laboratory, a canteen, a surau, an administration block, a covered open space, and a field. Ewon emphasised the importance of timely completion to meet the community's expectations for improved education infrastructure. 'I hope this project goes smoothly and is completed according to the set schedule so that it can benefit the students as villagers have high hopes for better educational facilities,' he said during the ground-breaking ceremony. As the Kadamaian State Assemblyman and joint chairman of the Intervention Coordination Committee for Monitoring the 13th Malaysia Plan (MP13), Ewon highlighted his role in overseeing federal-funded projects in Sabah. He assured continued efforts to accelerate development initiatives under MP13, set to run from next year until 2030. Ewon also acknowledged the contributions of the Ministry of Education, Kota Belud District Education Office, Sabah Public Works Department, and local administrative offices in advancing district development. - Bernama

‘13MP to guide five Sarawak sick projects'

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, said the causes for the projects' delay included site issues such as permits, land acquisition and overlapping pipe alignments, in addition to weather conditions. 'Since the 13MP will be tabled at the coming Dewan Rakyat session, any sick projects will be expedited and its completion period must be within the 13MP, namely from Rolling Plan 1 to 5. 'For example, for non-sick projects but projects that have been delayed, namely the Maktab Rendah Sains Mara in Lawas, which has obtained approval but is not yet implemented ... my instruction is that it must be implemented under the 13MP Rolling Plan 1,' he told Bernama here yesterday. He said this at a media conference after attending the special meeting on the implementation of the ministry's development projects in Sarawak here. Ahmad Zahid said that following the landslide incident in Kampung Lereng Bukit, Miri in January, which completely damaged 14 houses, efforts to rebuild the houses of all the affected residents would be carried out after the Gawai Day celebration. 'A suitable plot of land has been obtained as determined by the Sarawak Land Custody and Development Authority, with the implementation carried out by the state government agency,' he said, adding that the incident affected a total of 277 residents in the affected settlement. He also said that his ministry plans to set up the Mara Poly-Tech College (KPTM) of Sarawak either in Kuching or Samarahan to expand opportunities for youths in the state to further their studies at the pre-diploma, diploma and foundation level. He is targeting a total of 1,000 students to study at the KPTM by 2028. 'We plan to start with about 200 students and, in the following years, we expect to take in 500 students yearly,' he said, adding that KPTM will offer studies in the fields of business, information technology and humanities. Also present were Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang and Sarawak Utilities and Telecommunications Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi. Earlier, the nearly two-hour special meeting aimed to coordinate the implementation of the ministry's rural development projects in Sarawak to ensure the people can enjoy the basic facilities and infrastructure. Meanwhile, the ministry said in a statement that Sarawak has received an allocation of RM3.2bil under the 12MP, involving the implementation of 403 programmes and projects, at a total project cost of RM21.73bil. It added that of the total, 178 projects or 44.71% have been identified as still in the pre-implementation status, with 155 projects having been approved from 2021 to this year.
