Kota Kinabalu: Royal Sabah Turf Club's (RSTC) talented two-year old Borneo Star will make his debut (Race 6) this Sunday in the peninsula at Selangor Turf Club. Infinity Spirit is the favourite with Pahlawan, Cheeky White Face and El Chubasco to challenge. Race 7 (Class A) over 1,200m is feature race with hard to beat Pacific Vampire against Honesty and Filial Dragon. Always switch on type, 'veteran' 10-year old Cheval Blanc should be regarded while Witness Impact has ability to upset. Top draw for local races (Sunday) is Race 4 (Class 1/2) over 1,400m featuring Lord Justice against a plethora of combatants bent on overthrowing the lord. Leading the contingent are Kinabalu Warrior, David's Sling and Summer Glitter. Stiff competition is also expected from Sukoli Beauty (ex Coronation II) and Easylights. Race 3 (Class 4) over 1,100m sandtrack will be keenly fought. A princely pot of RM17,000 carry forward pool adds to the fanfare. Biduan and North Star are in excellent form homing in for a win with Golden Express and Dedek Beauty lurking not far behind. Race 5 (Class 3) over 1,400m will be fierce with dependable Classic Head taking on Messi. Lady Lara and Silent Arrow are proud and honest-types, and they will have a major say in the proceedings. Juggernaut Wattzilla looks unstoppable in Race 3

Published on: Saturday, June 14, 2025 Published on: Sat, Jun 14, 2025 Text Size: Apprentice jockey Britney Wong. Kota Kinabalu: Tambalang races headlined this weekend's bumper crop of local and simulcast races. Fiery racing passion will ignite with more than twenty local stables represented over five races tomorrow (Sunday). Race 5 (Initiation) 1,100m over sandtrack will be a competitive affair with a robust line-up of several contenders. Magic Opa is favourite but Billie Jean can threaten seriously in latter stages. Putra Rinaking loves to seize an early lead and should be closely watched. Advertisement Ranger Ranch likes to sit back, bides his time and then attack the line. Puteri Seroja is a seasoned trooper with strong chances for a placing. Race 4 (Novice) 1,000m over sandtrack pits Country Song against lead from front type, Ratu Pantai. Triten has ability to surprise with Malkita rounding up the selections. Speed merchant Wattzilla should take down Race 3 (Novice) 1,000m sandtrack. Dedek Girl, Seaworld and Gereek can try their best to challenge. Sunday also sees Royal Sabah Turf Club's (RSTC) Sabah Win and Sabah Star entered respectively for Race 1 and Race 5 at Selangor Turf Club. Sabah Win is marked as one of the favourites alongside Pacific Soldier and Sky Eight. Sabah Win has raced credibly in his last five runs with two second positions and one third placing. Race 5 features Sabah Star up against a classy field of 11 starters. His recent form has been patchy and less than satisfactory. He can use this occasion to build up condition and confidence. Favourites are Per Incrown, Cool Sixty-One and The Star. Kinabalu Light is emergency acceptor at Race 13 (1,700m). He is a proper long distance type and has decent performance record. He has outside chance of a top four finishing. Heavy favourites for this race are Happy Warrior and Pacific Rainbow. Today (Saturday) showcases eleven Hong Kong races from 4pm to 9.15pm. Race 4 (Class 4) over 1,200m dirt track is worth matinee watching. This intriguing race sees fan favourite apprentice-jockey Britney Wong locking direct horns with champion jockey Z Purton. Wong has been the one to beat on Sha Tin's dirt track this season, accumulating 8 winners from 58 rides. Slated to ride top weight Fun N Fun Together, Purton has strong chance of defeating Wong. Patch of Watch under Wong is going for a third victory on dirt. Patch of Watch had crushed his rivals on dirt track four starts previously and then returned to victory with another virtuoso performance on May 18. Race 8 (Class 2) over 1,200m turf sees four-year old Bottomuptogether trying to cement his glowing reputation against creditable opposition Call Me Glorious, Wunderbar and Raging Blizzard. Battle King ready to take on pretenders

Published on: Saturday, April 26, 2025 Published on: Sat, Apr 26, 2025 Text Size: Battle King with winning AB Stable. Kota Kinabalu: Race 1 (Initiation) over 1,100m sandtrack at Tambalang tracks this Sunday sees a heathy crop of promoted runners, Puteri Santubong III, Dynamite and Jelly Jelly with declared ambition to challenge incumbents. Of the three, Puteri Santubong III is highly regarded and looks sharp going into the race. Horse owner Chin Kui Sang is highly respected in the circuit, and always prepares his horses well. Resilient Battle King is tipped to win with Shahbandar Hero and Mountain Ace (Ex. Kante) in the mix. Race 4 (Class D) over 1,100m sandtrack is suited for Apin Apin Prince for a long overdue win. He should find Class D competition less intense. His lightning quick gate reaction and front leading style should lead him to glory. Hunter Champ is consistent-type and has capability to chase down Apin Apin Prince. Gold Dream and Kokorriko should be noticed. With leading jockey Firdaus in control, in-form Diva can surprise with an upset. Race 5 (Class D) over 1,100m sandtrack will be too close to call with as many as four runners legitimately fighting for top spot. Aqis is favourite with the slightest of edge followed closely by the well-trained Magic Blinks. Wawa's impressive runs of two second placings and a third placing qualify her as a strong contender. Go Tommy Go should be tracked even as he moves up to tougher Class D competition. Over at Selangor Tur Club this Sunday, Royal Sabah Turf Club's (RSTC) two representatives, Sabah Win and Vittoria Perfetta are scheduled to run Race 2 and Race 10 respectively. Sabah Win's excellent record of two consecutive second positions puts him as favourite. His career thus far at the Capital has been satisfactory and local racing fans will be rooting for Sabah Win for further success. He faces proven competitors in Kick, Ganbatte and Wan Legacy. Vittoria Perfetta in Race 10 over 1300m enters this race with modest expectation. A minor placing will be deemed assignment accomplished. Smoke and Mirrors is favourite with King's Gambit and Delilah rounding up the selections. This Sunday in Hong Kong sees the running of the Chairman's Sprint Prize (Race 5 - International Group 1) with international runners and jockeys participating. Ka Ying Rising, HK's sprint king undefeated with a sensational record of 11 wins since February 2024 is the horse to beat. Going after Ka Ying is Japanese horse Satono Reve. Satono Reve with jockey 'magic man' Moreira astride can pose a threat to Ka Ying Rising. Also in contention are Helios Express and Lucky Sweynesse. Race 7 Champions' Mile (International Group 1) over 1600m should see local favourite Voyage Bubble continuing his dominance over his usual nemesis in Galaxy Patch and My Wish. Mr Brightside and Royal Patronage, both Australian champions in their own rights, should be closely watched, in particular Mr Brightside. Race 8 is showpiece race - Queen Elizabeth II Cup (International Group 1) over 2,000m. This race will likely witness the emergence of a champion Japanese horse. Liberty Island (Japan) is installed as early favourite with Prognosis also from Japan, closely behind. Tastiera, another Japanese stayer, should be pencilled in but Goliath from France under famed Belgian jockey C Soumillon has every intention to gatecrash the Japanese party. Racing fans can look forward to a bumper weekend of on-course and off-course racing. Local races, Hong Kong, Australia, Selangor and Perak races are teleast 'live' at Tambalang Racecourse and RSTC's Off-Course centres in Tanjung Aru and Keningau.
