Former Pathikonda MLA Kangati Sridevi counters Minister's claims, highlights Jagan's welfare achievements

Pattikonda: Former MLA Kangati Sridevi strongly condemned the recent remarks made by the Labour Minister during his visit to Pattikonda. She criticized the coalition government, stating that they came to power in the previous elections by making false promises. Responding to the minister's claims on development, she said that 70% of the work under the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi project was completed during the previous TDP government, and alleged that the current government failed to provide even a single new ration card or pension during its early tenure. Speaking to media persons on Sunday at Pathikonda, countered the allegations, Sridevi pointed out that by the time former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy assumed office in June 2019, only 12.7% of the Handri-Neeva project had been completed. She claimed that under Jagan's leadership from 2019 to 2024, nearly 80% of the project was completed and water was released. She added that in the last five years, around 4 lakh new ration cards were sanctioned and the number of pension beneficiaries rose from 39 lakh to 65 lakh across the state. She also rebutted the Minister's claim that no welfare scheme was implemented for women. Highlighting the efforts of the YSRCP government, she said that loans worth Rs.25,570 crore were waived under YSR Aasara for 78.94 lakh women and Rs.19,189 crore was distributed to 26.98 lakh women under YSR Cheyutha. Furthermore, nearly 30 lakh house site pattas were given in the names of women and the Amma Vodi scheme also focused on empowering mothers, she added. The former MLA called the Minister's comments baseless and laughable, questioning his awareness as a cabinet member. She rejected the 'psycho governance' label made by the Minister, asserting that the previous YSRCP regime ensured inclusive and welfare-oriented administration. She further accused the coalition government of misleading the public and declared that people, deceived once, are now ready to teach them a befitting lesson in the next elections. 'Welfare schemes are synonymous with the YSR family,' she stated.

‘FLOW' bus rolls into Tirupati bringing hands-on science to students

Tirupati: India's first futuristic mobile science lab – EDODWAJA – Futuristic Lab On Wheels (FLOW), has begun its journey in Andhra Pradesh, starting from Tirupati. Designed to give students hands-on exposure to science and technology, the project is the brainchild of a Hyderabad-based startup, supported by Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV). The university not only incubated the idea through its Technology Business Incubator (TBI) but also provided Rs.25 lakh in funding. Now, under the PM-USHA scheme, SPMVV is facilitating the FLOW bus tour across TTD-run and government schools in Tirupati over the next 10 days. The bus, which can accommodate over 35 students at a time, is more than just a classroom on wheels. It's a solar-powered mobile lab packed with state-of-the-art technology — including robotics, AR/VR setups, drone kits, 3D printing stations, holograms, and a mini planetarium. There are 16 interactive zones where students can explore their curiosity, perform hands-on experiments using 'Do It Yourself' (DIY) kits, and learn directly from trained mentors. FLOW features three core learning modules: Innovate Yourself, Design Yourself, and Recreate Yourself. At the heart of the project is Madhulash Babu, a BTech graduate who wanted to change how students connect with science. He believed that direct, practical experience would spark deeper understanding and long-term interest. After getting seed funding from SPMVV, he secured another Rs.80 lakh from George Mason University in the USA, and with support from his peers, brought FLOW to life. 'We want students to uncover their hidden potential and build on it. FLOW is more than just a lab. It is an ecosystem that gives students a chance to innovate and learn from experts in a hands-on setting,' Madhulash explained. Since it was flagged off by Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on June 10, 2024, the bus has already reached 45,000 students across Telangana. Now, it's beginning a new chapter in Andhra Pradesh, where it will be available to schools on a subscription model offering curated workshops and experiences. SPMVV Vice Chancellor Prof V Uma, who inaugurated the bus in Tirupati, praised the effort and vision behind FLOW. 'Madhulash and his team are doing commendable work by bringing science to students' doorsteps. The tools and tech they've included speak volumes about their dedication,' she maintained. Students like Ramya and Kalyani, who toured the bus, were amazed. 'We have never seen anything like this. It is not just about hearing theories as we were able to see how things actually work. It makes us excited about the future of science,' they commented.

Supreme Court grants Tamil Nadu MLA Jagan Moorthy anticipatory bail in abduction case

The Supreme Court Monday granted anticipatory bail to Tamil Nadu MLA M Jagan Moorthy in the case of the alleged abduction of a teenager in the state's Thiruvallur district, and said 'the matter requires consideration.' Issuing notice to the Tamil Nadu Police, the bench of Justices Manoj Mishra and N Kotiswar Singh directed, 'In the meantime, if the petitioner is arrested in connection with FIR No.101/2025 registered at PS – Thiruvalangadu (renumbered as C.R. No.1/2025), he shall be released on personal bond of Rs.25,000/-, subject to the undertaking that he shall cooperate in the investigation and will not threaten the witnesses or tamper the evidence.' Moorthy, the Kilvaithinankuppam AIADMK MLA, approached the top court after the Madras High Court dismissed his plea on June 27. Appearing for him, Senior Advocate Siddharth Luthra submitted, 'There is no dispute that the abductee was recovered and not from the possession or control of the applicant.' Luthra contended the legislator 'has been implicated for malafide reasons by alleging that he had a hand in the abduction' and that 'even assuming that the applicant interacted with one of the parties to the dispute, that may be considered for the purposes of settling the issue.' Luthra added, 'In any event, no custodial interrogation is required.' The Madras High Court also ordered the arrest of H M Jayaram, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Tamil Nadu, in the matter, but it was set aside by the Supreme Court. Moorthy and Jayaram were 'implicated' in the May 10 abduction of an 18-year-old boy in Thiruvallur. The boy was reportedly abducted by a group seeking information about his elder brother, who had married a young woman from Theni district against her family's wishes.
