2025 Arizona Cardinals training camp roster preview: K Chad Ryland

We will preview every player on the Cardinals roster leading up to training camp. This is about K Chad Ryland. The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team. Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2024, questions they face and their roster outlook. Next up is kicker Chad Ryland. Chad Ryland background, 2024 season Ryland enters his third NFL season and second with the Cardinals. He was drafted in the fourth round in 2023 by the New England Patriots, but he struggled as a rookie, making only 16-of-25 field goals. He was cut after the 2024 preseason and and was unsigned until the Cardinals added him to the practice squad when Matt Prater injured his knee. He ended up finishing the year as the Cardinals' kicker, showing leg strength, accuracy and the ability make big kicks, as he made game-winning field goals in the final two minutes in three games of a four-game stretch. He finished the season making 28-of-32 field goals (87.5%) and 26-of-27 extra points. Chad Ryland 2025 contract details, cap hit When Ryland was signed from the practice squad, he signed a deal through 2025. He will make $1.03 million in salary and that will be his cap hit. After the season, he will be a restricted free agent. Questions he faces, roster outlook The Cardinals did not bring in any other kicker to compete with him this offseason, so his job is as secure as it can be for the moment. Considering his uneven rookie season, the question will be whether or not he can maintain the consistency he had in 2024. He is a lock to be the Cardinals' kicker, at least until he isn't. Especially with no guarantees in his contract, he could be easily replaced if things go sideways. 'The trailer for Ryan Gosling's Project Hail Mary is so good I need the film now'

2025 is the year of the trailer. All too often teasers for movies have given far too much away, if not the entire plot, and now it feels like Hollywood is finally reclaiming the art of the trailer. At least, it does with Project Hail Mary. The first trailer for the sci-fi film landed on Monday, 30 June, revealing Ryan Gosling as a man sent to space alone in a bid to save humanity from extinction, his character Ryland Grace is out of his depth and feels woefully unqualified for the mission as a middle school teacher — though he does have a doctorate in molecular biology. The preview comes almost nine months ahead of the film's release, and it has got me so excited for the film itself I already can't wait to see it. Project Hail Mary's trailer felt like a breath of fresh air compared to previous teasers, giving just enough away to be get me (and audiences) excited and ready to spend my hard-earned cash on tickets. What is it about the trailer that is so great? Well for one Gosling is always charming and he already seems to be having a ball in this teaser for Project Hail Mary. His utterance of the phrase "I put the not in astronaut" is just sublime, give him his Oscar nomination now please and thank you. The promise of a fun sci-fi epic is also an enticing one, especially when the writing is already as strong as it appears in the trailer. This can definitely be linked back to the source material from Andy Weir, the creative mind behind another excellent sci-fi novel The Martian. There are some that have complained that trailer has given just slightly too much away by revealing a glimpse of an interaction between Ryland and alien life, but it also feels like it fits with the comedic, fish out of water feel of the movie. It's not just the visuals that are a spectacle in the trailer, it's also the strength of the music choice — in Project Hail Mary's case the use of Harry Styles song Sign of the Times. It's something that was done well in another excellent trailer, the one made for 28 Years Later. The preview for Danny Boyle's return to the 28 Days Later franchise was a real masterstroke, showing some of the best bits without actually revealing the context. Slicing terrifying action sequences together to the tune of Rudyard Kipling's poem Boots, a poem with a tempo so repetitive it unsettles the listener. It perfectly encapsulated the sense of dread needed for the British horror film and has been described as one of the best trailers made in recent years for good reason. In this digital age it's always hard to break through, and so for a trailer to make a mark like Project Hail Mary has is a real feat. And I for one can't wait to see the film, but I may also read the book ahead of its release because I'm so excited I already want to know what happens to Ryland in space. Project Hail Mary is coming to UK cinemas on 20 March, 2026.

New trailer for 'Project Hail Mary' gives first look at Ryan Gosling in space

A first look at 'Project Hail Mary,' the upcoming science fiction thriller starring Ryan Gosling, captures how a middle school teacher is suddenly tasked with saving the world — from space. Based on Andy Weir's 2021 novel of the same name, 'Project Hail Mary' centers around Ryland Grace's mission to space after a mysterious astronomical phenomenon threatens the existence of humanity. In a trailer for the film, which premiered exclusively on "TODAY" June 30, Gosling is pictured with long hair and a beard, shouting, 'I just woke up from a coma.' 'And I'm not an astronaut,' he repeats several times — until the next scene shows him echoing the same sentiment well before his fateful mission. The trailer explains that the sun is dying, and Ryland, a former scientist turned middle school teacher, might be the government's only hope in understanding why. The mission is called Project Hail Mary, given Ryland's 'long shot' at surviving it. With his background in molecular biology, Ryland is dubbed the Earth's only hope. The thrilling trailer, featuring Harry Styles' 'Sign of the Times,' sees Ryland struggle to survive in space light-years away from Earth. And as he works to communicate his findings to his team, he may encounter a few aliens along the way. 'Project Hail Mary' will also feature Sandra Hüller, known for 2023's 'The Zone of Interest' and 'Anatomy of a Fall.' The screenplay was written by Drew Goddard, while the film was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The movie will be released in theaters and in IMAX on March 20, 2026. Weir also wrote 'The Martian,' which was adapted into a 2015 film, starring Matt Damon.

Ryan Gosling is sent to space in 'Project Hail Mary' official trailer

Ryan Gosling is a reluctant space traveler in the official trailer for "Project Hail Mary." The Amazon MGM film is based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Andy Weir. It follows middle school teacher Ryland Grace, played by Gosling, who finds himself on a spacecraft with no memory of his past or even how he arrived there. Ryland must successfully complete an interstellar mission to save Earth from disaster. This leads him to meet an alien who is also trying to save its own species. The best of Ryan Gosling "I just woke up from a coma. I'm several light years from my apartment, and I'm not an astronaut," Ryland says in the trailer. In another scene, Ryland repeats to a room full of scientists and experts, "I'm not an astronaut," to which Oscar nominee Sandra Hüller, who plays Eva, responds, "If you don't go, you die. With the rest of us." Ryland does not respond well to the idea of taking on such a dangerous mission. "I put the 'not' in astronaut," he says. "I've never done anything. I've never done a space--I can't even moonwalk!" Oscar-winning filmmaking duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller directed the upcoming movie. Milana Vayntrub, Lionel Boyce and Ken Leung star alongside Gosling and Hüller in the film. "Project Hail Mary" blasts off into movie theaters and IMAX screens on March 20, 2026.
