Andhra gets full fertiliser quota for Kharif

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh Department of Agriculture has refuted claims of reduced fertiliser supply by the Centre, confirming that the State received its full allocation for the current Kharif season. Director of Agriculture S Dilli Rao said that 16.76 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of fertilisers were allocated, of which 5.64 LMT had been delivered by the end of June. Distribution is ongoing through private and cooperative channels to ensure availability for farmers. Rao termed social media reports alleging supply cuts as baseless and urged farmers not to panic or fall for misinformation. As of July 9, the State had 8.73 LMT of stock, including 3.07 LMT of urea, 0.86 LMT of DAP, 0.57 LMT of MOP, 0.59 LMT of SSP, and 3.63 LMT of complex fertilisers. These are available at Rythu Seva Kendras, MARKFED godowns, cooperative societies, and retail outlets. Rao promoted sustainable farming practices, encouraging the use of organic and bio-fertilisers, green manure, nano-fertilisers, and pulse-based cropping to enhance soil health and cut costs.

Fertiliser stocks up 30%, govt warns against hoarding

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has ramped up efforts to ensure the smooth and timely supply of fertilisers, pesticides, and micronutrients during the ongoing Kharif season. The Agriculture Department recently issued a stern warning to all fertiliser dealers and distributors, making it clear that hoarding, black marketing, diversion of fertilisers, or selling above the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) would not be tolerated. With the onset of the Kharif season, farmers rushed to nearby stores to purchase seeds and essential fertilisers, resulting in increased demand. The Agriculture Department advised farmers to avoid panic buying and ignore baseless rumours of shortages, noting that fertiliser stocks in the state have increased by 30% this year compared to the previous Kharif season. S Dilli Rao, director of the agriculture department, stressed that the state government is committed to ensuring fair and uninterrupted access to agricultural inputs, particularly in rural and interior areas. To support this, fertiliser companies, cooperative societies, MARKFED, Rythu Seva Kendras, and private retailers have been instructed to maintain adequate local stock and cooperate with field-level staff. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Book 3 & 4 BHK from 6.76 Cr* All Inc. in Mahalaxmi, Mumbai 7 Mahalaxmi, Runwal Group Book Now Undo Special focus is also being placed on the availability of pesticides and micronutrients, which are equally critical for a healthy crop yield. For July alone, 3.84 LMT (lakh metric tonnes) of fertilisers are scheduled for supply, including 1.30 LMT of urea. The Centre has already allocated the full Kharif requirement of 6.22 LMT of urea, of which 1.95 LMT has been received. Including opening stocks, 4.93 LMT is currently available—sufficient to meet demand through the end of August. Taking note of irregularities in urea and seed sales, Dilli Rao warned that violators will face license cancellation and legal action under the Fertiliser Control Order (FCO) of 1985. He emphasised that distribution must strictly align with crop cultivation patterns and actual ground-level needs.

Andhra Pradesh to fully digitize agriculture from Kharif 2025

Vijayawada: The agriculture department of Andhra Pradesh is set to transition into a fully digital system from Kharif 2025, with all its operations to be carried out exclusively through the APAIMS 2.0 (Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Information Management System) platform. This landmark reform will cover every aspect of agricultural governance — from input management and subsidy distribution to pest alerts and e-market linkages. AP agriculture department announced that the digitization drive is progressing swiftly and will significantly benefit both farmers and the government. "From Kharif 2025, there will be no offline services. APAIMS 2.0 will handle everything — from seed distribution to real-time advisories—ensuring transparency and fast service delivery," said S Dilli Rao, director of agriculture Developed by Vassar Labs IT Solutions, APAIMS 2.0 is a farmer-focused platform that uses technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to provide plot-level pest and disease alerts, personalised advisories, and integrated workflows. The system is designed to enhance operational efficiency, reduce delays, and offer seamless digital services to the farming community. "This digital integration will help farmers to get personalised alerts based on the crop they sowed in particular season. This will be helpful in case of crop damage and claiming insurance. Farmers can easily sell their crop and they doesnt need to submit documets everytime. We are testing it this season and will rectify any flaws based on the feedback," Dilli Rao said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like One of the Most Successful Investors of All Time, Warren Buffett, Recommends: 5 Books for Turning... Farm mechanisation drive benefits 25K farmers in 45 days

Vijayawada: The farm mechanisation initiative of Andhra Pradesh govt is receiving a good and positive response from farmers across the state. More than 25,000 farmers benefited from the scheme within the first 45 days of its launch, with subsidies amounting to 61 crore disbursed for the purchase of essential agricultural machinery. After a five-year gap, the State relaunched this scheme as a flagship programme under the sub-mission on agricultural mechanization (SMAM), targeting primarily small and marginal farmers. In a key change from previous models, the new system offers a frontend subsidy model—where farmers receive a 50% subsidy directly at the time of purchase rather than paying the full amount upfront and claiming it later. This shift is encouraging more farmers to come forward and invest in modern farm tools, easing their financial burden and making mechanised agriculture more accessible. The scheme covers a comprehensive range of equipment, from land preparation to harvesting, with a special focus on reaching rainfed and tribal regions. This is expected to reduce dependency on manual labour and enhance productivity in the agriculture sector. The initiative is managed through the Karshak Portal – FM App, developed by NIC-AP, which integrates data from multiple govt departments to verify eligibility and prevent duplication. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo These include land ownership (webland), cultivation records (ePanta), family eligibility (GSWS), forest cultivator data (Giribhoomi), and previous subsidy status from the agriculture department. Applications, beneficiary selection, progress tracking, and grievance handling are all conducted online, ensuring a transparent and efficient system. "The AP Agro Industries Development Corporation Ltd (AP AGROS) is functioning as the nodal agency for this initiative, managing logistics, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring on-ground delivery of equipment. The govt is committed to expanding the scheme across all districts to strengthen farm infrastructure and help small and marginal farmers adopt modern, technology-based farming practices," said S Dilli Rao, director of the Andhra Pradesh agriculture department.
