TAMPARULI: Parents waiting to pick up their children after school hours were shocked when a lorry lost control and crashed into vehicles outside SK Pekan Tamparuli here on Tuesday. The 1pm incident happened in front of the school and fortunately there were no fatalities or injuries to the public. Tuaran District Police Chief Supt Noraidin Ag Maidin confirmed the incident after viral footage of the crash started making its round online. Initial investigations found the 10-ton lorry carrying a load of stones from Kota Kinabalu to Ranau when it lost control at the scene. 'Upon reaching the site, the lorry lost control and crashed into a lamp post at the road divider as well as a parked Perodua Alza on the opposite side of the road,' he said in a statement. The fallen lamp post also hit another vehicle, though both cars were unoccupied at the time of the accident. He said the lorry driver was attempting to avoid a Perodua Myvi that had stopped suddenly in front of him. A urine screening test conducted on the truck driver returned negative. Police advised the public to exercise greater caution and responsibility while driving and to always comply with established road laws and regulations. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
