Policies needed to support green hydrogen projects discussed

The second day of the Green Hydrogen Summit at SRM University-A.P. on Saturday saw the delegates discussing policies needed to support green hydrogen projects, investment opportunities, incentives and financing. A series of plenary sessions with industry-academia interactions and strategic discussions with industry leaders, scientists and policymakers led to exchange of ideas on technology innovations, infrastructure acumen, off-taker options and funding and policy to promote the country's green hydrogen journey. The panel discussion also explored the scope of fuel cells. Director of Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), R. Vijay, explained about the potential benefits of using metallic bipolar plates and the need to set up electrolyser plants to enable large-scale hydrogen production. Ramesh Guduru, associate professor at Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), and Hairsh Jayaram from Hygenco Green Energies explained about the current status of hydrogen applications. Referring to the challenges faced by the industry, they stressed the need for selecting appropriate use cases, longer project tenures for cost efficiency and the critical role of storage and sea-port accessibility. SRM University-A.P. Vice-Chancellor Ch. Satish Kumar and others were present.

Rushendra Thirupathi, a first-year BBA student at SRM University-A.P., clinched the silver medal in the men's singles category at the Yonex-Sunrise 11th Telangana State Senior Badminton Championship 2025. A statement released by the SRM University-A.P. said that Rushendra, who is a native of Telangana, had secured a gold at the Yonex-Sunrise 46th Junior National Badminton Championship 2023 at Bengaluru, and a bronze in the NMDC Telangana International Challenge in 2024. Rushendra thanked his coach, mentors and the teams from Gopichand Academy and SRM University-A.P. for believing in him and his skills. 'Their guidance and support helped me overcome difficulties and excel in the final round of the championship,' he said. 'We empower our athletes to rise, compete and conquer national and international tournaments,' said Director of Sports at SRM University-A.P., Anup Singh Suryavanshi. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Ch. Satish Kumar and Vice-Chancellor Manoj K. Arora congratulated Rushendra for his achievement.

SRM University- A.P., Amaravati, has secured top position in 'The New-Age Emerging University' segment announced by the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) 2025 under the Private University category. The IIRF evaluated leading educational institutions across the country based on comprehensive metrics, including Teaching-Learning Resources and Pedagogy, Research, Industry Income and Integration, Placement Strategies and Support, Future Orientation, External Perception and International Outlook. These parameters offer a balanced and holistic assessment, providing students, parents and educators with an objective framework to evaluate institutional quality and performance. A statement released by the institution on Friday (June 13) said the SRM University-AP achieved top scores across these critical benchmarks, and claimed the top spot, reaffirming its position as a university committed to academic excellence, impactful faculty research, and transformative student outcomes. Pro Chancellor, SRM University-A.P., P. Sathyanarayana, said the journey of SRM-AP has always been about pushing boundaries, whether in pedagogy, research, or student empowerment. 'Securing this top rank further validates our vision of creating a future-ready, student-centric learning ecosystem. We will continue to embrace innovation and strive for even greater heights,' he emphasised.

SRM-A.P.'s student part of women's team that won gold in 4×400 metres relay at international tourney

Kunja Rajitha, a first-year B. Com. student at Paari School of Business, SRM University-A.P., Amaravati, is part of the Women's 4×400 metres relay team that made history by clinching a gold on Day 3 of the 26th Asian Athletics Championship being held in South Korea on April 30, Thursday. The other three in her team included Jisna Mathew, Rupal Chaudhary and Subha Venkatesan. The quartet clocked the season-best time of 3:34.18s, edging past Vietnam and Sri Lanka in the finals, according to a report from the university. India won gold in the Women's 4x400m relay at the Asian Athletics Championships after 12 years. The university's Sports Director, Anup Singh Suryavanshi, congratulated Rajitha on her achievement and said it is a testament to her hard work and resilience. Her performance on such an international platform inspires all student-athletes nationwide, he added. SRM University Pro Vice-Chancellor Satish Kumar and Vice-Chancellor Manoj K Arora praised Rajitha and said her journey reminds one that students can rise to any challenge with the right support and determination. Her success adds to the growing legacy of the university as a hub for talent, they said. Rajitha hails from an inaccessible tribal village near Kunavaram in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district of Andhra Pradesh. Despite all odds, she continued her education while pursuing her dreams and became a national-level athlete, the release said. Rajitha bagged gold in the 400-metre sprint event at the Khelo India Youth Games-2022, held in Haryana. She also secured second place in a similar event in the 2019 edition of Khelo India held in Assam. In 2018, Rajitha joined Tenvic Sports Academy in Nellore. Later, she trained under coach Mike Russell at SAA Centre of Excellence in Guntur.
