Can't Cancel Christmas: ‘Power' Prequel ‘Origins' Gets 18-Episode Order At STARZ, ‘Raising Kanan's' MeKai Curtis Joining Cast

STARZ is spinning the block and stepping back in time by showcasing the bold beginnings of the Power Universe. Source: Michael Kovac / Getty After years of fan theories, flashbacks, and early announcements, STARZ has greenlit Power: Origins , an 18-episode prequel series focused on Tommy and Ghost's early days before Truth Nightclub, betrayal, and bloody finales. Described as a 'fun, rambunctious' look at their rise, Power: Origins will follow James 'Ghost' St. Patrick and Tommy Egan as young, wild, and way too ambitious up-and-comers, navigating New York's underworld with big plans and even bigger problems. Not even that, but an official press release reports that MeKai Curtis is set to reprise his Power Book III: Raising Kanan role. Source: Courtesy / Starz 'I'm excited to continue to explore the origin stories of the Power Universe's founding fathers,' said Sascha Penn, showrunner, writer and executive producer in a statement. 'Ghost and Tommy's backstories have fueled years of constant fascination and speculation among fans, and I'm thrilled to be able to answer some long-held questions and share new layers of the story that viewers won't see coming.' Kathryn Busby, STARZ's President of Original Programming, also made it clear this one's for the day-ones. 'Our fans have been asking for Ghost and Tommy's origins story since we first met them in Power — and with the launch of this series, we're delivering in a big way,' said Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming for STARZ. 'This marks an electrifying new chapter in the franchise's evolution as we dive deep into the legacy of these iconic characters and the explosive moments that shaped their path.' Power: Origins marks the fourth spin-off in the ever-expanding Power Universe, joining Power Book II: Ghost (which just wrapped its final season in 2024), Raising Kanan (returning for a fifth and final season), and Power Book IV: Force (set to close out this fall). The crew behind the camera remains stacked: Courtney A. Kemp returns as executive producer through End of Episode, along with Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson (G-Unit Film and Television), Mark Canton (Canton Entertainment), Pete Chatmon, and Chris Selak. Lionsgate Television is producing for STARZ. Outlander fans all have same reaction to spin-off trailer as they say its 'magic'

Exictement for Outlander: Blood of My Blood spin-off is ramping up among fans, with many reacting to the official trailer which was released last week. Outlander fans are delighted as the official trailer for Blood of My Blood was officially released last week. It comes as viewers are eagerly awaiting the eigthth and final series of Outlander itself. The premier date of the prequel has been billed to land on August 8, with Starz announcing, "Can true love overcome rival clans? Experience Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser's story in Outlander: Blood of My Blood premiering August 8 on STARZ." ‌ And with the official trailer finally dropping, fans have taken to discussion platform Reddit delighted with whats to come, as they all said the same thing. ‌ One person observed, "Brian really looks like jamie with dark hair. Those facial features are on point! Great casting for all of them," as one fan responded, "And the expressions! That thing he does when he furrows his brow….that's Sam, 1000%." Someone else interjected, "That really stood out to me! So excited for this," as another echoed, "The way he says im brian fraser sounds a lot like jamie." One fan noted, "I keep thinking for a second that's Sam, but it's not. They really did well with him." "Look at the way she looks at Brian…just magic," added another fan. One excited viewer commented, "I haven't met Ellen yet and I know I'm going to love her personality and looks... she's amazing! "We already know where Jamie got his character from, I have no doubt it was from Ellen. And Brian is the cracked one. He looks 100% like Jamie's dad because of the physical resemblance. Even the gestures are similar to Jamie's! I'm super excited." ‌ Elsewhere, some fans have been sharing their hopes for the spin-off. One fan stated, "Jamie stated in season one that it was normal for husbands to hit their wives to 'discipline' them- 'and so it was with my own mother and father', and Jamie expected that afterwards things would just go back to normal, and the wife would be chastened but not hold a grudge." They continued, "If that truly was the norm, and Jamie really did experience that with his mother and father, I hope the show doesn't shy away from showing it. Ellen should be her own character, not a proto-Claire, expecting to be treated according to standards that don't exist in her time." ‌ Many of the Outlander fanbase, which is based on Diana Gabaldon's original award-winning novels, are hoping the characters bring as much on-screen energy as both Claire and Jamie Fraser did, played by Sam Heughan and Catriona Balfe. "I hope they found some actors with amazing chemistry because they will live in the shadow of the original couple's chemistry. I already feel bad for the comparisons that are to come, but I am also really excited about new material," gushed one fan. One pondered, "Have they said whether this is intended to be a mini-series/one-season wonder, or if it's open-ended and might go on for multiple seasons?," as some speculated already that it could be billed for a second series before it's even hit screens.

Outlander drops official Blood of My Blood trailer as fans are left in tears over unexpected plot

Outlander has released the trailer for prequel show Blood of My Blood which is due to drop on August 8 and fans say it has 'exceeded their expectations' Outlander fans have finally been given the moment they've been waiting for as the Starz show has released the official season one trailer for Outlander: Blood of My Blood. The Outlander Instagram account dropped the trailer this evening on July 10, much to fan's delight, alongside the caption: "Two timeless love stories. One epic new show. Outlander: #BloodOfMyBlood premieres August 8 only on STARZ." The account also tagged Hermione Corfield, Jamie Roy and Jeremy Irvine in the post, who all take on leading roles in the prequel. The trailer opens to the narration of Corfield, who plays Julia Moriston, as the camera pans over the stones of Craigh na Dun and Julia is seen waking up beside them. Soon after, it's revealed that one of the timelines starts in 1714. ‌ Blood of My Blood is a prequel to the highly popular Outlander show, which will tell the two love stories of Jamie's p arents, Ellen Mackenzie and Brian Fraser, and Claire's parents, Julia and Henry Beauchamp simultaneously. There will also be some familiar fan favourites along the way including Colum and Dougal MacKenzie, and Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser. ‌ However, it's not yet known how much these storylines will overlap. Based on the trailer, it seems both of their mothers meet at least once - a moment which fans seem particularly excited about. This would suggest Julia goes through the stones and as true Outlander fans know this is a very plausible theory, given the fact that time travel is genetic in this universe. Outlander showrunner Matthew B. Roberts is returning to write and executive produce the prequel series. Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis will also return as executive producers. Fans have raced to the comment section to have their say on the trailer with one gushing that it is 'beyond their expectations'. ‌ The impressed fan wrote: "This is beyond my expectations. I am so unbelievably excited to see Julia, Henry, Ellen, and Brian's stories come to life!!" Another commented: "Holy absolute bloody hell!!!! Tears, excitement are you kidding me !!!!!! You guys have absolutely done it. Claire's mom meet Jamies mom this is TOO GOOD. It was fate!!!!" A third exclaimed: "Omg!!! Claire's parents are BOTH time travellers?! So excited" ‌ A fifth emotional fan wrote: "I am already tearing up in the trailer?! I think this'll break my heart." Outlander: Blood of My Blood has already been renewed for a second season which should ease some pain for Outlander fans who are still waiting for the eighth and final season of the main series, which is expected to premiere in late 2025 or early 2026. Blood of My Blood debuts on August 8, and new episodes will drop weekly on Fridays at 8 p.m.
