IOCL donates medical equipment worth Rs 22 cr to SVIMS
Tirupati: TTD Chairman BR Naidu said that Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) in Tirupati is fast emerging as the best super specialty hospital in the country. Speaking after inaugurating advanced medical equipment at SVIMS on Thursday, he said that the TTD was committed to providing the best healthcare services to the poor, and to strengthen the hospital further, the TTD was allocating Rs 140 crore annually for its development and expansion. On the occasion, the Chairman inaugurated state-of-the-art MRI and CT scan equipment, which were provided with the support of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. IOCL donated medical equipment worth Rs 22.01 crore to SVIMS, a significant contribution towards enhancing the diagnostic and treatment facilities at the hospital. Among the donated equipment is a 3 Tesla MRI scanner, MAGNETOM Vida, costing Rs 14 crore, and a 4D CT Simulator System, SOMATOM used for radiotherapy planning, valued at Rs 8 crore. Speaking to the media, Naidu said that these latest technologies were being installed only in SVIMS, which is the largest super specialty hospital in the Rayalaseema region. The new machines are particularly beneficial for cancer patients, as they help detect tumours with precision and without side effects. The equipment aids in identifying brain disorders and locating cancer growths, while also determining the dosage required for various organs during cancer treatment. Naidu mentioned that these facilities will help provide better treatment to over 2.5 lakh poor patients every year at a minimal cost. IOCL Marketing Director Satish Kumar, who was present at the event, said that their organisation was proud to support SVIMS as part of their social service programmes. He assured that IOCL would continue to participate in such service-oriented initiatives in the future. SVIMS Director Dr RV Kumar stated that under TTD's management, the hospital was offering top-class healthcare free of cost to the poor, while also providing high-quality medical education to students at Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women. TUDA Chairman and TTD Board Member C Divakar Reddy, IOCL Executive Director (HR) Mukesh Rajan, SVIMS Medical Superintendent Dr Ram, Radiology Department Head Dr Vijaya Lakshmi, IOCL representatives Dattatreya, Badrinath, and several other dignitaries were present.

Rama Rao, to offer free and quality healthcare to the poor, is being developed as one of the best medical institutions in India. TTD is allocating Rs. 140 crore annually for its development. The Chairman inaugurated state-of-the-art MRI and CT scan equipment at SVIMS. These advanced medical devices, worth Rs. 22.01 crore were donated by Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) under its CSR initiative. IOCL donates equipment worth ₹22 crore SVIMS
The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) donated a state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment worth ₹22.01 crore to the TTD-run super specialty hospital Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), from its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. The advanced MRI and CT scanners were virtually inaugurated on Thursday (July 17) by Union Minister for Oil and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, while the event was physically attended by TTD trust board Chairman B.R. Naidu, TUDA chairman C. Divakar Reddy, SVIMS Director and Vice-Chancellor R.V. Kumar among others. Acknowledging IOCL's gesture, Mr. Naidu said that the SVIMS would soon become the best super specialty hospital in the entire country with the support of such benefactors. He explained the steps taken up by the TTD management, including donating ₹140 crore every year, to ensure best medical treatment to the poor. The 3TESLA MRI scanner and 4D CT simulator system (used for radiotherapy) would be used to screen tumours in cancer patients without any side effects. The equipment would help the hospital diagnose 2.5 lakh poor patients at a nominal charge every year. IOCL Marketing Director Satish Kumar appreciated SVIMS for reaching out to the poor patients and offered to support its future endeavours. SVIMS Director Dr. R.V. Kumar said that the hospital provided medical education exclusively to girl students by running Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women.

SVIMS conducts free medical camp, cancer screening at Perumallapalle
Tirupati: Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) in collaboration with the Retired Employees' Welfare Association organised a free super speciality medical camp and cancer screening programme at Perumallapalle village in Tirupati Rural on Saturday. SVIMS Director-cum-Vice Chancellor Dr R V Kumar, along with leaders of the Retired Employees' Welfare Association., G Subramanyam Reddy, Ramamurthy Reddy, Kumara Swamy Reddy, and Tirumala Reddy participated in the event. Former SVIMS Deputy Director Y Venkatarami Reddy and other retired officials were also present. Addressing the gathering, Dr Kumar explained the importance of early cancer detection, especially among women, stating that timely diagnosis can lead to successful treatment. 'Every woman deserves to be healthy, and identifying cancer in its initial stages can help in effective prevention,' he said. He noted that SVIMS has earned recognition across the State for its comprehensive oncology services — medical, surgical, and radiation oncology — under one roof. 'We also offer free treatment for eligible patients through the Aarogyasri health scheme. Women should come forward without fear and utilise the Pink Bus services for early cancer screening,' he added. Highlighting the impact of the initiative, Dr Kumar mentioned that, with the support of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and the State government, nearly 15,000 women have already undergone free cancer screening through the mobile Pink Bus service. The camp at Perumallapalle provided free consultations and medicines to 215 individuals, while 74 women underwent cancer screening through the Pink Bus facility.

Stress on improving edu, health facilities
Tirupati: Speakers at an awareness meeting held on the occasion of World Population Day at SPW Degree and PG College here on Friday, emphasised on improving basic facilities including health, education and livelihood to all to cope with increasing population. SVIMS deemed university Vice-Chancellor Dr R V Kumar said the country was nearing first place in population with the number of people in the country reaching 143 crore this was mainly due to rise in medical and health facilities. He said focus would be laid on food, social security and improving employment opportunities. SPW Degree and PG College Principal Dr Thirumala Narayanamma who presided over the meeting said there should be balance between increasing population and economic stability. Women empowerment cell co-ordinator Dr Uma Rani said the youth in our populous country should possess awareness on healthy lifestyle and make it a practice to take staple food. Assistant professors Dr Pravallika Sudharani, Dr Bhavani, SVIMS Medical College Principal Usha Kalavathi, Dr Lakshmi, Dr Padmaja, Dr Pushpalatha, Srivani, Lakshmi Devi and Vijaya Kumari were present.
