SVIMS conducts free medical camp, cancer screening at Perumallapalle

Addressing the gathering, Dr Kumar explained the importance of early cancer detection, especially among women, stating that timely diagnosis can lead to successful treatment. 'Every woman deserves to be healthy, and identifying cancer in its initial stages can help in effective prevention,' he said.
He noted that SVIMS has earned recognition across the State for its comprehensive oncology services — medical, surgical, and radiation oncology — under one roof. 'We also offer free treatment for eligible patients through the Aarogyasri health scheme. Women should come forward without fear and utilise the Pink Bus services for early cancer screening,' he added.
Highlighting the impact of the initiative, Dr Kumar mentioned that, with the support of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and the State government, nearly 15,000 women have already undergone free cancer screening through the mobile Pink Bus service.
The camp at Perumallapalle provided free consultations and medicines to 215 individuals, while 74 women underwent cancer screening through the Pink Bus facility.

NEET student dies by suicide in Sikar; 18th this year in Rajasthan
Jaipur: A 20-year-old student preparing for the National Entrance Eligibility Test (NEET) to get admission to any undergraduate medical course died by suicide on Saturday night in Rajasthan's Sikar, said officials. This takes the toll of such cases to 18 this year across the state- 16 of them in Kota and one each in Sikar and Jodhpur. 'His friends knocked on the door late at night. When he did not respond, the hostel authority broke open the door and found him dead,' the SI added. 'Prima facie, he went to the coaching centre only on Friday. No suicide note was recovered. The body was sent for an autopsy. His family was also informed. Further probe is underway,' he said. Kumar also said that officials are probing why an anti-hanging device was not installed in the room. Rajnath visits KGMU to check on BJP functionary's health
Lucknow: Defence minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh visited KGMU on Saturday to check on the health of senior BJP functionary Vindhyavasini Kumar. Kumar recently tested positive for Covid-19, but has since tested negative. The 77-year-old leader was admitted to the KGMU Trauma Centre last Saturday and was later shifted to the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) in Gandhi Ward. Doctors informed Singh that Kumar's condition is improving and has been taken off the ventilator. They said his kidney infection is also gradually subsiding. During his visit, Singh met Kumar's family members at the vice-chancellor's office, including his daughter Jayati Srivastava, son-in-law Anoop Sharma, and sons Devesh Kumar and Vishwesh Kumar. He assured the family of all possible support and instructed the doctors to ensure the best treatment. Later, he also visited the residence of corporator Nagendra Singh to offer his condolences on the recent demise of his mother. Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak, former deputy CM and Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Sharma, and mayor Sushma Kharkwal were also present. |
