18 undocumented migrants deported from Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Immigration Department has facilitated the repatriation of 18 undocumented migrants from five countries during the first two weeks of July. Sabah Immigration Director Datuk Sh Sitti Saleha Habib Yussof, on Friday, said the group was deported via the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA). Those repatriated included six individuals from the Philippines, five from China, four from Pakistan, two from Thailand, and one from Indonesia. They were found to have committed immigration offences under Section 15(1)(c) and 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963. All had completed their prison sentences and were sent home upon completion of the necessary travel documents. To date, a total of 6,311 non-citizens have been repatriated from Sabah through official entry points. 35 undocumented migrants held in Inanam, Luyang immigration sweep

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Immigration Department detained 35 undocumented migrants during a series of enforcement operations in Inanam and Luyang between Thursday and Friday. The operations, led by 38 enforcement officers from the Kota Kinabalu division, took place from 11am until 12.30am and targeted residential areas, business premises, and known gathering spots for foreign nationals. Acting on public tip-offs and prior surveillance, officers launched five operations - Ops Mahir, Ops Kutip, Ops Selera, Ops Belanja, and Ops Sapu - across multiple locations. Those detained include 17 Chinese nationals (16 men and one woman), six Pakistani men, and 12 Filipinos (10 men and two women), suspected of various immigration offences. Offences cited include staying without valid documents, overstaying visas, and breaching permit conditions under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and related regulations. All detainees have been transferred to the Kota Kinabalu Immigration Depot for documentation and further investigation. 187 illegals rounded up during raids in Inanam, Luyang and Telipok

Kota Kinabalu: Some 187 illegal immigrants were detained in three separate operations conducted by the Sabah Immigration Department on Wednesday. The operations were carried out in two squatter areas and a construction site in Inanam, Luyang and Telipok. Advertisement Sabah Immigration Director Datuk SH Sitti Saleha Habib Yusoff said the simultaneous operations from 1am involved 108 officers and personnel. She said a total of 260 individuals were inspected, resulting in 187 of them detained for committing offences under the Immigration Act. 'Those arrested comprise 41 men, 43 women, 56 boys and 46 girls from the Philippines as well as an Indonesian,' she said in a statement. Sitti said all detained were taken to the Kota Kinabalu Enforcement Division Office for the documentation process as well as further investigations under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for not having identification documents. According to her, the department has conducted a total of 765 operations this year. She said some 15,092 individuals were inspected in the operations, with 2,777 illegals detained, while 6,290 individuals have been repatriated to their countries of origin. She urged the public to channel information related to illegal immigrants to the department for immediate action. Members of the public, especially employers, are advised not to protect or employ illegal immigrants as they would face legal action. 127 illegals deported to Nunukan

The children sent back were accompanied by their parents or legal guardians. TAWAU: The Sabah Immigration Department carried out a repatriation programme involving 127 undocumented migrants, transferring them from the Tawau Immigration Depot to Nunukan, Indonesia via ferry. Those deported included 105 adult men, 19 adult women, three boys and one girl, ranging in age from one month to 64 years. The children sent back were accompanied by their parents or legal guardians. The detainees were found to have violated Sections 15(1)(c) and 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for overstaying and entering the country without valid documentation. They had completed their prison terms and were returned after their travel documents were processed. All have been blacklisted in the department's system according to the nature of their offences. Sandakan crackdown nets 238 illegals

SANDAKAN: A 12-hour large-scale immigration crackdown saw 238 undocumented migrants detained here early Wednesday. Sabah Immigration Department Director Datuk Sh Sitti Saleha Habib Yussof said a total of 480 individuals were screened during the operation which began around 1.30am and ended before noon. The integrated operation, codenamed 'Ops Sapu' and 'Ops Mahir', targeted squatter settlements, construction sites and wood-processing factories at four hotspots, including Batu 8 and Batu 10 settlements. The operation involved 71 officers from the Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu and Kota Kinabalu districts, as well as the department's enforcement division. 'The 238 people detained comprise 88 adult men, 88 adult women, 30 boys and 32 girls,' she said. They were detained for not possessing valid documents under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, overstaying under Section 15(1)(c), misuse of passes under Section 39(b) and employing undocumented migrants under Section 55B, among other offences. Of that number, 6,058 individuals have been deported to their countries of origin, while 53 employers have been prosecuted. 'We remind employers in Sabah to cooperate by ensuring that their workers have valid travel documents before hiring them, especially in factories or the construction sector, to avoid facing legal action,' said Sitti. She said such enforcement operations will continue in districts, including Semporna, Kota Kinabalu, Tawau and Sandakan, to uphold immigration laws across the State. She warned that action will be taken against employers and premises owners found hiring undocumented foreigners or individuals violating the conditions of their passes.
