'Makeup meal prep' hack goes viral on TikTok: 'I'm influenced'

Her beauty hack is no longer under wraps. UK-based makeup influencer Sam Begum is dividing the Internet with her head-scratching yet speedy makeup routine: a full face of cosmetics applied to a piece of plastic wrap at night, then slapped on her face in the morning. Videos of her technique have racked up nearly 10 million views on TikTok in recent weeks. Advertisement Sam Begum's TikTok videos showing the puzzling technique have wracked up nearly 10 million views in recent weeks. sxmiabegum/ TikTok Begum, 23, starts by sticking a clean piece of plastic to her naked face, then applies foundation, concealer, blush and bronzer onto the film, then sets it aside. The next morning, she finishes the routine by reversing the plastic and placing the side with the cosmetics on her face. Advertisement The warpaint initially appears blotchy and out of whack, until Begum uses a puffy makeup brush to blend it in and applies setting powder over the top. A lip gloss pulls it all together — all while Begum walks out of her apartment building. @sxmiabegum anything for an extra 20 mins in bed🫶🏽 @Lancôme foundation @Saie blush @Diorbeauty stick contour @Huda Beauty lip oil ♬ original sound – Mell ❤︎︎ 'Girl mathing 20 more minutes in bed,' reads the caption of one of her videos showing the technique, which has amassed over seven million views since it was posted June 30. Advertisement The once-viral hashtag 'Girl Math' trend refers to the illogical ways women justify purchases – or, in this case, more time in mattress mode. Some TikTokers are inspired by the glam game-changer. Some TikTokers felt inspired by the glam game-changer, while it 'pissed off' others. sxmiabegum/ TikTok 'Meal prepping makeup,' one person mused in the comments. Advertisement 'I'm influenced,' wrote another. Others weren't as rosy. 'I can't explain it but this pmo [pissed me off],' another said in a comment that's racked up more than 2,000 likes. 'Imagine all the bacteria on that foil and all the bacteria you absorb on the street while blending it all,' one person pointed out, along with the crying face emoji. In a July 14 video, Begum urged her followers to create a hole in the mouth area of the plastic wrap if they decide to test out her technique. 'Don't knock it till u try [it]!' she wrote. Begum did not respond to requests for comment.

Saie launches new Slip Tint Setting Powder - and here's why it's a summer staple

Metro journalists select and curate the products that feature on our site. If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission – learn more Saie has recently launched its brand new Slip Tint Undetectable Baked Setting Powder to rival Laura Mercier's iconic Translucent Setting Powder. I have been using Laura Mercier's Translucent Setting Powder for years to soak up any excess oil around my T-zone, but it may have met its match with Saie's new drop. What I love about Saie's Slip Tint is it is a multi-purpose make-up cosmetic as it functions as a setting powder, highlighter and bronzer – depending on the shade – as it adds an extra glow to my complexion while minimising any shine. This clean formula has been crafted using Phytosqualane, Silica, Hyaluronic Acid andlipids extracted from Jojoba Esters plant to create a skincare and make-up hybrid. This setting powder reduces excess oil, while also hydrating the skin. It offers a glowy finish, despite its function to reduce oiliness and set your make-up in place. Available in five shades, including very light to light, light to medium, medium to tan, tan to deep and deep to rich. BUY NOW FOR £26 Firstly the Saie Slip Tint is a pressed powder rather than loose powder, which I personally prefer to prevent wasting any product. The Saie Setting Powder is as lightweight on the skin as it promises to be, yet it delivers a natural glowy finish, sets your make-up in place without a single trace of setting powder or a cakey finish. This talc-free setting powder has been formulated with clean ingredients, including Phytosqualane and Silica, which work to smooth and blur any fine lines or enlarged pores. It also absorbs excess oil for a flawless finish. The formula also contains hydrating hyaluronic acid, as well as Jojoba Esters, which contains lipids that smooth and hydrate the skin, while providing a film to hold your make-up look in place. The powder promises to hold your make-up for eight hours, which I can attest to. In fact, I have worn it from day to night in the height of summer without my make-up budging. I always seek out non-comedogenic formulas to prevent any breakouts, which is another big tick this Saie creation delivers on. This setting powder is available in five shades, including very light to light, light to medium, medium to tan, tan to deep and deep to rich, so you can perfectly colour match the product to your skin tone. This is rare when it comes to setting powders and what sets it out from the crowd as it doesn't dull or lighten your complexion like others. While Saie's Slip Tint reduces any oily areas around my T-zone, it also lifts, brightens and adds a glowy finish to my complexion too, though it is not pearlescent or shimmery. While I opt for the light to medium shade on oily areas, I have also experimented using other shades as a bronzer on my cheeks, which was equally as effective in adding a pop of colour and definition to my cheeks without leaving me too shiny or one dimensional. This setting powder has been dermatologist tested, so it is safe to use on sensitive as well as blemish prone skin. Whether you sweep all over the face, or on select areas, is entirely up to you. Already Saie's Slip Tint has garnered an impressive 4.9 out of five stars from shoppers. Gloria's review read: 'I've been using this pressed powder and I'm seriously loving it. It gives me a natural finish without looking cakey. My skin still looks glowy like a soft, healthy glow, but not glittery or shimmery at all. It just looks like my skin, but better. I use it to set my make-up and it blends so nicely.' More Trending While Angie added: 'I enjoy this powder, it is light on my skin, doesn't not look powdery and it sets my make-up beautifully! I like how the shade is flexible since I'll be able to wear it once the season changes. There is no scent to it but there's some radiance to it, so this won't give you a matte look, which I appreciate since I have dry skin! it does not sit in my fine lines either!' A separate shopper, named Dahlia, echoed the same sentiment and shared: 'I am a huge powder girly and I've been looking for one that sets my makeup but doesn't look dry, especially under my eyes. I use it all over my face and under my eyes and it sets my makeup without taking away all the glow I want to keep. It looks really good under my eyes too and they finally don't appear crusty. The formula feels buttery almost! I love the compact and this will last me a long time since a little goes a long way.' Sold. New holy grail for me." —meesh22Price: $28 Biodance's Bio Collagen Real Deep Mask to seriously up the ante on your morning shed. I can use this with other products or alone. It truly does what it says. Love it!" —frangerinePrice: $18+ (available in two sizes) Shiseido's Ultimate Sun Protector Face and Body Lotion SPF 60+ Sunscreen because protecting your skin from the sun doesn't always have to mean slathering it in a white cast and gritty texture. This sunscreen glides on clear and soaks into the skin, leaving behind a radiant glow. Note: Based on the AAD Guidelines all sunscreens should have an SPF of at least 30 and protect against UVA and UVB rays. Promising review: "I love this sunscreen! Promising review: "I love using The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner! It's been a game changer for my skincare routine, especially in helping to fade my post-acne marks. Promising reviews: "Leaves my thick color-processed hair so light and soft, and my scalp feels less oily. I wash my hair 2–3 times a week on swim days and use lots of leave-in treatments. This works way better than shampoos to dechlorinate and clarify." —LottaLeiPrice: $37 Laneige's Bouncy + Firm Sleeping Mask, just in case slugging with Vaseline may be too much for you, but you still want something thicc to soak into your skin overnight. Promising review: "I absolutely love this wand. It does a good job of holding my thick hair back when I do hairstyles. Even when I leave my hair out, I like to run the wand on my ends to smoothen them. And it smells so good. I was thinking about what new hair perfume to buy since my Gisou perfume is running out, but I realized that this product also works as a hair scent. It's so multifunctional, making it well worth the price." —kazianaPrice: $18 Drunk Elephant's Protini Polypeptide Cream, which has a whopping NINE different signal peptides that all do different jobs on your skin, like plumping, brightening, and, of course, moisturizing. It comes in airless packaging to keep your skinvestment fresh, and its pump is the perfect surface for mixing in your foundations or glow serums, if that's your thing! Tatcha's Rice Wash gets wayyyyy down into your pores to help get rid of gunk. While this soft cream-to-foam works to buff the skin clean, hyaluronic acid and red algae work over time to moisturize the skin for a nonstripping feel. Promising review: "Every time my friends or family come over, they use this. And every time they are like?? OK, wow that's amazing. It's just the best. I am amazed at the life and performance! Highly recommend." —je55martPrice: $149.99 (originally $199.99) A concealer for 50% off that's basically a soft-focus filter in a tube. The formula is creamy but weightless, providing just enough coverage to cancel dark circles without caking or creasing. Promising review: "I am 63 and have tried so many concealers that I've lost count looking for one that does not crease under my very lined eyes. This one is a miracle. I have bought three tubes and can't rave enough. It detangles, hydrates, and prevents color shifts. It is so hard to get a good cool-toned product!" —roseoilPrice: $16 (originally $32; available in eight shades) An eyeshadow palette for 37% off that's basically a greatest hits album. Natasha Denona filled it with her all-time faves (some reimagined for extra impact) and ended up creating a palette that can replace all your old ones. The mattes are ultra-pigmented and blend like a dream, while the shimmers and duochromes are straight-up cosmic. Promising review: "This palette was everything I hoped for — the color story is fun and interesting without being too over-the-top. My mom and I both loved it, lol. The shades are stunning, especially the shimmers and duo-chromes, and they blend like a dream. Super pigmented and versatile, it's quickly becoming a staple in my collection — perfect for everything from soft everyday looks to full glam." —livlovesbeauty1Price: $48.30 (originally $69) A whipped self-tanner mousse for 15% off that'll make you feel as sun-kissed as if you just got back from Capri — instead of, you know, being chained to your desk since May. It's ultra-lightweight, smells great, and is weirdly satisfying to apply. And, instead of UV damage, you get a dose of skin-loving niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and echinacea. Promising review: "I have tried dozens of self-tanners, and this is the best, by far. It has the most beautiful undertone — not too red or olive. I have extremely pale skin, and this has great coverage and makes me feel so confident. It feels incredibly moisturizing and lasts long!" —MagsRosePrice: $40.80 (originally $48) A weightless shampoo for 25% off if you've been looking for a sulfate- and paraben-free shampoo that actually works well. With ingredients like moringa oil and sunflower seed extract, it'll treat your hair to a luscious lather that smooths as well as cleans. It's particularly useful for those with fine, frizzy hair who have trouble finding products that don't weigh it down. Promising review: "My hair is very fine and silky. Finding a shampoo that actually cleans my hair without weighing it down or causing flyaways has been difficult until now. I love this hair series." —TamieDLittlePrice: $16.50+ (originally $22+; available in two sizes) A fresh and fruity travel spray for 25% off that'll leave your audience (ahem, I mean the happy hour crowd) spellbound. Blending pear, cedar, and caramel, it's a totally original fragrance dynamic that stands out. Reviewers love its versatility — it's genderless, layerable, and somehow perfect for both first dates and grocery runs. Promising review: "Dedcool fragrances never disappoint. Typically, I'm not a fan of floral scents, but Aura has some of my favorite notes that I look for in fragrances. Cedar gives it a soft, woodsy scent that I love. I typically don't see caramel, and it gives a more unique scent to a fruity fragrance. I have worn this for several days now to test the longevity, and I will say it lasts eight hours at a minimum. I can still smell it on myself throughout the day when most fragrances wear down. I would consider this a more mature fragrance. It's not a sweet, youthful scent. Be careful how much you spray on. If you are sensitive to scents, then it may give you a headache if you put too much on. If you add a little, it will still last all day but won't give you a headache. Overall, this is an amazing and unique scent that I'm glad to add to my collection!" —HannahEZPrice: $22.50 (originally $30) A blowout styling milk for 25% off so lightweight and touchable it seems to disappear into your hair. Yet it's powerfully protective, standing up to heat of up to 450 degrees and increasing the longevity of a blowout by several days. Promising review: "Absolutely love. I even got my husband hooked on it, and we each have our own now! Smells like I've left a hair salon each time I use it. Hair is soft, silky, and smooth after a blow-dry; it's a very noticeable difference!" —EllyEssePrice: $24 (originally $32) A rosemary conditioner for 25% off, which will make you feel like you're walking through an herb garden. More importantly, it'll make your hair feel more moisturized and malleable, preventing breakage and split ends along the way. Promising review: "This was a game changer. The smell is fabulous, and using this makes me want to wear my hair curly even more. It moisturizes my curls and makes them smell divine. I finally love my curls. Thank you to the Sephora employee who recommended this to me. I 100% would repurchase." —Petunia000Price: $22.50+ (originally $30+; available in two sizes) A perfume oil roller for 30% off that's small enough to stash in your carry-on. Sneak a touch of this coconut-and-sandalwood scent behind your ears before you ~roll~ on over to that cutie you're eyeing. If this doesn't smell like summer crush, idk what does. Promising review: "Sooo yummy for summer! It's absolutely a warm coconut scent with a hint of vanilla. It's the kind of multitasker that makes your makeup bag feel way more powerful (and a lot less cluttered). Promising review: "This product totally knocked my socks off! I've been searching for a creamy gel eyeliner that's both sanitary for use on multiple clients and doesn't dry out in a pot. I've tried tons of felt-tip liquid liners, but they're not ideal for pro use. I was nervous this would smudge or budge since it's technically labeled an 'eyeshadow,' but it stays put beautifully. I used to swear by the Tarte squeeze-tube liner before it was discontinued, and I've been hunting for a replacement ever since — this is it! Super black, smooth, and creamy." —BigLivPrice: $14.40 (originally $24; available in five colors) An anti-aging serum for 30% off, because it's an upgrade on a cult-favorite formula that had already racked up dozens of awards. Plus, it absorbs fast, layers like a dream, and comes with a refill, so you're covered for the long haul. Promising review: "This has so quickly become a staple in my routine. I think out of any serum I've ever tried, I've never seen faster results. My skin feels so much smoother and my complexion looks WAY better, it's amazing! It sinks into my skin so fast, which is nice because I don't really like the 'dewy' feeling other serums give." —IzadoyanPrice: $98 (originally $140) A skin-plumping serum for 30% off that's basically a shortcut to smoother, bouncier skin — no needles required. It's packed with four weights of hyaluronic acid, peptides, and niacinamide to visibly firm, hydrate, and soften fine lines. It's like filler in a bottle, and reviewers swear their skin looks glowier and more even after just a few uses. Promising review: "I've been using this serum for a few weeks (tried samples from Sephora first, then purchased it with my own money) and can confidently say it's become my holy-grail night serum. I'll keep using it until they stop selling it! My skin is textured, scarred, and acne-prone, with regular hormonal breakouts that leave dark brown and red hyperpigmentation. It's also sensitive and oily, with large pores but after just a few weeks of use, I've noticed a significant difference. This serum truly works like magic and deserves all the praise. After a year of experimenting with various skincare products, this has been the best addition to my routine. It's incredibly effective — I get compliments on how smooth my skin looks the very next day after using it. Like with any new product, I started off slowly and gradually built up my tolerance, and now it's a permanent part of my regimen. So so happy with this serum." —MahalgnasPrice: $60 (originally $75) And that's just the tip of the dewy, glowy, perfectly lined iceberg. This New Saie Powder Blush Is My Go-To For A Healthy Summer Glow

Blush is the one makeup product in my routine that I absolutely cannot go without. It instantly makes me look awake and healthy, and it adds life back into my complexion—especially during winter months. I usually opt for liquid blush because I prefer a dewy look, and I associate powder blush with the formulas of my youth that felt chalky and could look garish. So when Saie introduced a powder blush that promised a lightweight, diffused wash of color, I was curious to see if it would change my impression of powder options. After using Saie's SuperSuede Baked Powder Blush for several months, I found that it delivers long-lasting color with a soft, radiant and surprisingly natural finish. Saie's SuperSuede Baked Powder Blush delivers a natural, lightweight flush of color that lasts all ... More day. Saie is a popular beauty brand best known for its Glowy Super Gel—a multitasking illuminator that can be worn on its own or mixed with your favorite base products—and the Dew Blush Liquid Cream Blush. The common denominator with Saie is that its formulas look natural and they're easy to apply, so I was excited to put the SuperSuede blush and its powdery texture to the test. Sephora When first trying it out, I began by swatching the blush colors on my hand using clean fingers. I was surprised at the instant color payoff—each was pigmented without looking harsh or overly bright. I then applied one of the lighter shades, Ciao, to my cheekbones using The Powder Blush Brush. I was surprised by how beautiful it looked on my skin: it blended easily, providing a just-right wash of color in a blurred, velvety finish. And it reflected the light without looking too shimmery for daytime wear. The Saie baked blush currently comes in six shades, and Mia and Ciao are the softest and most ... More wearable shades, in my opinion. After consistently using the Saie powder blush over several months (I even wore it to a workout class, and it didn't budge), I can say this has earned a permanent spot in my makeup bag. Applying it is easy—I swipe my blush brush onto the powder's surface two to three times to pick up enough color. I then tap off the excess before swiping it from the apples of my cheeks up toward my temples. I'll often combine shades for a custom flush, and I can easily build up the color for a night out. The blush currently comes in six shades: Amore (a vibrant fuchsia), Stella (a bright coral), Mia (a soft rose shade and my current favorite), Bella (a cool pink), Grazie (a bright berry) and Ciao (a soft terracotta). While six shades may seem like a limited selection compared to other similar options on the market, there's still a nice range of bright and neutral hues. Mia and Ciao are the softest shades and the most wearable, in my opinion, and I typically reach for them on a day-to-day basis. I've found that Ciao is excellent for the summer because it imparts a soft, golden glow that mimics being out in the sun. I hope that Saie expands this line to include even more shades in the future. The Saie Powder Blush looks incredibly natural on the skin and blends seamlessly, making it an ... More excellent choice for blush beginners. Although I've been a fan of liquid blush for the past couple of years, Saie's SuperSuede has made me a powder blush devotee due to its lightweight feel, velvety texture and the natural flush it creates. I love how easy it is to apply and build the color, and the shades Mia and Ciao work well with my current rotation of cream and liquid blushes, especially when I'm looking to layer products for nighttime. I'm also impressed with the staying power; it has lasted through long walks, subway rides, sweaty workouts and even a pool day where the temperature reached almost 80 degrees. Now that it's become a staple in my makeup routine, I plan to wear it all summer long.
